He rejected us prior to his move to Bayern when we had Jose and CL football. If he wasn't going to join then, we have absolutely no chance now with no manager confirmed and no CL football. 

 

Whether he's worth £70m or not is another question, history suggests though that when we spend that much on a striker they generally flop for whatever reason. Not going through that again.

Torres is one of the main big money flops but we have had others when we have spent big.

Shevchenko was another expensive flop while Falcao being a loan is on a crazy amount of wages considering he’s hardly kicked a ball for us since the summer.

We are hardly blessed in the striking department when it comes to throwing the cash around.

Lewandowski is looking for a new challenge and a new league. Even if Costa isnt keen to return to Madrid I would still hope we go in for him. I would imagine wherever Pep goes will be favorites but if he isnt worth 70m I dont know who is.

I dont see Lewandowski being a flop even if he comes to us. Sheva and Torres both had question marks when we bought them. Shevas pace, Torres's injury and the fact the whole team at pool was focused around him. Lewandowski is the closest thing to a guaranteed 20 goals you'll find no matter what league or style the team plays with.

Despite what many of you believed the guy was very highly rated in France by a lot of clubs. I still think he was a superb buy on face value and its not his fault he wasn't given a chance. If he moves to Marseille I expect him to get a chance to prove Chelsea coaches wrong.

I'm just suggesting we thread very carefully given our track record. We got a perfectly capable striker in Costa for less than half of that.
