(Sky Sports) Stoke fans saying he never fully recovered from the angle injury on England duty. Confidence shot and distribution iffy. Doesn't sound like something we should consider.

Would be a solid number two and he's homegrown. I agree on Willie getting older and frankly, I'd prefer a better backup. While Kepa stays frozen Caballero is actually coming for crosses but he flops at them at least once every match.
August 14, 20205 yr Too soon for a Messi to Chelsea rumour? 😇 What about the Bourmouth GK? He looked a pretty good shot stopper, should have a relegation clause, probably better than what we got at moment, and a home grown

Michele Vorm has left Spuds and is a decent back up available for free Edited August 15, 20205 yr by WhiteWall

I'd imagine they'll either a) give him a raise and loan him out for another year with the guarantee he's coming back to take over as the first choice starting 2021-22 season, or b) sell De Gea (or inform him he's not an automatic starter anymore) and bring Henderson back for this coming season. In any case, I just don't see them selling, let alone loaning Henderson to us. He's a young English talent coming off a fantastic season at Sheffield. Given De Gea's recent struggles they're probably already planning to move forward with Henderson as their new starting goalkeeper, it's just a question of when. If I'm wrong though and he's somehow becomes available, we're definitely should be interested. Edited August 16, 20205 yr by abramovich

I was thinking along the lines of assuming we cant get one of the worldie keepers out there, we have to assume Kepa stays for 8 mil and say to him show your form and you will be number one, prove you are better than kepa and you will be the choice hopefully he will raise his game as, like you say at 27 he should be able to get form back and also it could push Kepa to show whatever it is that made him so highly rated before we bought him.
August 17, 20205 yr Just read the rumour that we are also interested in Ben Foster as a replacement for Kepa....This can't be real...As a back up it would work, but we need a world class goalie. Also 40m for Dunk is insane....

I followed it up after I posted about this and it turned out Butland's been struggling and performing very poorly as of late, that's the reason they want to sell him relatively cheap. Apparently he had a save percentage in the fifties and made a number of howlers that led to Stoke dropping points.
August 17, 20205 yr Wonder if we are looking at Nick Pope or Dubravak (sp)? Both had pretty good seasons and would cost nowhere near Oblak. I do not seriously believe we are going to pay 120mill for him.
August 17, 20205 yr I jokingly suggested Joe Hart to a mate the other day, he rebutted said he's better than Kepa or Willy, looks like Spuds have signed him on a free, can't be paying him that much either
August 17, 20205 yr Interestingly it seems like Ilkay Gundogan has inadvertently confirmed that Claudio Bravo is leaving Man City. Anyone? May I suggest a back 5 of Bravo, Moses, Christensen, Rudiger and Emerson for next season?
