Let's just give him another season to adapt, it's way too unreasonable to pass the judgment after two years of struggling.

It's not his fault, the team doesn't play to his strengths. As soon as they discover what those strengths are, we'll be just fine.

To be fair you don't really have a clue with regards to the 'teams in world football' that apparently wouldn't go near Torres. In Europe maybe so but when you consider the rich Russian, Chinese & American clubs that would love to sign a big name player from the Premiership there could be takers, you are making assumptions and presenting them as facts without really knowing what you are talking about.

Oh and didn't we sign Torres 2 years ago on a 5 year deal? How are we stuck with him for another 4 years?

Torres signed a five and a half year contract. So not far off. We're stuck with that contract unless another club is feeling very generous. I won't hold my breath.

The mere fact that you're suggesting destinations like China and America for a 28 year old says it all. That is about his level but he wouldn't go there.

The Russians are signing young players close to or at their peak like the Witsel's and Hulk's of this world. They're not interested in close to 30 has-beens like Torres.

Sarcasm?

Two years is more than enough

what bothers me is that he just seems to have no passion even when Sheva was struggling you could see he was clearly trying but it doesn't come off. I have a theory that maybe the use of a false 9 by Spain might have impacted his overall play. Yes that one where they seem to pass the ball around and just don't seem to shoot.

People dreaming about Falcao are out of the minds.

What in god's name would make Roman spend that much on a forward again? Shevchenko was a disaster, Torres has been a disaster, and I dont see why he would just rush into another potential fiscal disaster.

Other teams can find reasonably priced strikers who score in bunches. Dont see why we are so fixated on the biggest, most expensive one available.

Regardless of how it may affect Torres its pretty evident we do need a new top class striker. I was all for him getting the opportunity to be the main man at the start of the season and whilst I still think he probably would rack up 15+ league goals, we could really do with a striker who is capable of inspiring the attack in games such as today and nicking a goal just when we need one.

Torres and Shevchenko were nowhere near their prime when we signed them. Falcao is considered to be the best center forward in the world at the moment.

I have always been a huge torres fan, but I've finally lost faith. He's holding us back massively and I pray the club can see it.

Don't care if we loan him to inter or something but we need another option in Jan if we want to challenge for title this season. If not falcao, maybe huntelaar, lewandowski or llorente are more likely options. Not remy - would rather sturridge.

But for me, studge deserves to be our #9 until xmas

the thing is I reckon as soon as he went to another team, be it in the EPL or elsewhere, he'll probably start banging them in again

How do you know any of these things? Do you speak to Torres a lot about where he wants to go? Do you know about what signings clubs in Russia would or wouldn't make? Do you have a source within all if the clubs within Russia, China and America?

No- you are once again making assumptions based in nothing more than your own little opinion and presenting them as fact.

In reality you don't know any more than anyone else regarding which clubs in world football might take Torres, so you should probably stop acting like you do.

In spain perhaps, his career as a top draw striker in the prem ended after that injury Liverfool tried to rush him back from, & likewise Spain in the world cup. The only good game he had for Liverpool after that was against us.

Its a dfficult decision, with the wages hes on, the contract hes on and the ordinary form hes shown I can't see many options other than treating him like any other player and stop wrapping him up in cotton wool in case his confidence suffers.

He needs competition, we need a top class striker to compliment the top class midfield we have and there was a day Torres could have been that man, the thing is if he still has it in him it's down to him to show it and make these conversations seem ridiculous...they certainly have merit whatever your views on him and an unfair spinoff to this is that Sturridge, watching on and getting a few minutes out of position or a game out of the blue when not match sharp could well end up going somewhere else and becoming the player he thinks he is.

I've never been a fan Of Danny but I don't think he should witness some of the displays Torres has put in without knowing he is going to get another chance, there have been times on here when I've wondered how people come to their conclusions when saying things like "so and so should start...he can't do any worse" but it almost feels like wise tactics sometimes in this case where we could end up losing a bright prospect who has never really had the chance in his preferred position for a reasonable time.

I think in the next couple of months the two of them should share the minutes until either one starts to show some good form or we get in somebody else, what I don't want is Torres to keep being untouchable and Danny to rightfully get itchy feet and be gone before we know if he could have done the Job.

I support him because he is a CFC player but like you I am begining to lose faith in him as an individual and his playing abilities. For some reason his head just doesn't seem to be in it, he runs hot and cold and when he is cold he is very cold. He is our number#9 but he rarely plays there, he goes out wide, rarely takes a shot at goal on a half chance which is what a CF should be doing...do you think he would have scored the goal that RVP scored today..hitting it first time without thinking...no..a milliion things would have been running through his head and probably held up and tried to pass...chance gone...today he had 2 or 3 opportunities to at least have a poke but choice a different option, he clearly doesn't believe in his own abilities....it's in his head or his heart just isn't in this team...maybe the wrong colour?

I agree chippy, but with a twist. We've only got 3 players who can play up front, 2 of them have scored 4 goals in their last 3 games, those are the 2 players who should be sharing the role.

Torres should be benched until they have had a fair crack at it, like he has had for 2 years.

I think Sturridge upset RDM during the AVB time. He's never really given him a fair run.

It really is over now. We can't go on forever being good loyal Chelsea fans making excuses and progressively stretched justifications for him. We got it wrong, quite badly wrong. We bought an out of form striker for a huge fee and he has never got his top form back. And it is highly unlikely he ever will now (here or anywhere else).

Fai play to him, in the main he has worked quite hard and has made the odd contribution but, ultimately he was bought to be a high scoring big impact player and he has not been that.

Terrible really that there is an almost unprecedented level of attacking talent in a Chelsea team but one of our weakest strikers in recent history. I agree with Chippy, give Studge a run and if he doesn't seize the chance we wil need to go shopping in January (or accept that this is not a title challenging season and wait till summer).

And it's also time to accept that being negative about Torres can't be dismissed as knee-jerking. I can't think of any player anywhere anytime that has enjoyed such a prolonged period of faith in the face of continued disappointment.

This thread seems to be going on for ever and quite frankly its doing my nut in. (although, I can't help myself in checking it) This question applies to everyone and If you are backing Torres or not at this moment in time is irrelevant.

If we could get £18 million for him in January would you take it?

No changing of the fee I have provided. Just a simple answer please.

Yes or No?

I would but very curious on what the overall consensus will be.

I would hold onto him until the summer, but get a replacement in jan. I think he is still worth more than £18m.

For 18 million I would drive him to his new destination myself.

No one is goin to pay near £20 million for a striker that doesn't score.

I prefer Torres to Studge but think neither are good enough to score 30 odd goals a season for us, we need a top player.

Studge looks odds on to leave in Jan because he won't get a starting role as our CF, Liverpool will no doubt come on for him.

We really left ourselves open to bowing to Torres needs with no real striking option other than him, we can't wait to the summer.

No. Wait.

We paid £50 million for one.
