I think the frustration stems from even when he has a good game and does everything right in the build up, you just know hes going to mess up the final touch/pass or shot.

He left Vermaelen for dead at one stage but of course nothing came out of it. Its been that way since he joined Chelsea

Thought he was woeful first half, but better second half!

That's all that needs to be said really, however I think it's taken 4 pages since yesterday's game to make a very simple appraisal of his game!

Unfortunately very true.

It just doesn't quite happen for him and never has since he signed. He showed some good bursts of pace yesterday, the obvious one to completely beat Vermaelen (like you refer to) and set himself up for what should have been a one on one and a very good goal scoring oppertunity but his touch was awful and the chance goes begging.

Overall by his standards it wasn't an awful performance, he contributed and caused a few problems but it's not good enough for a club in our position and more to the point it is not enough to justify his inclusion in the starting 11 when we have Demba Ba on the bench who constantly looks a threat to the opposition goal when ever he is on the pitch. He is also much more capable at holding the ball up and considering we still have Cech launching the ball up top every game I would strongly suggest we have a man up top capable of winning the long balls and setting up moves in this way- Demba Ba will do this all day long as seen in the last 10 minutes yesterday. He is a genune danger and goal threat and that is something that sadly Torres rarely is.

Thought he looked okay personally, not a fantastic game by any means but positive with his movement and was causing Arsenal some problems.

Isn't it funny how this is about as positive as it gets for Torres these days. £50 million...

He did look a bit pacier and had some moments of good build up but I think the moment he has a second to think and make a decesion on goal he suffers from the yips.

He gets slated in the tabloids every week. The Daily Mail amaze me there is a whole article on Nando's hair practically and they add abit about him not scoring. Such sh*t journalism.

Very good mate, youre a funny guy. But what i mean is more so than usual. There's no analysis of his performance in any way shape of form apart from his hair not inspiring a goal.

I'm sorry, Sweddy, I'm not a guy at all.   Yes, you're right, the Mail hit an all-time low even by its own standards!

The reason he's such an easy target for tabloids is because he's playing like sh*t. That, combined with the biggest transfer in British football history on top of massive wages turns Torres into a daily scapegoat. But make no mistake, it's his doing.

Somehow nobody talks about Ronaldo's fee. You know why? Because he's been a success since the day he arrived in Madrid.

How much influence does Roman have in terms of ensuring Torres 'gets a game'? Benitez signed Ba but we've assumed that the regular selection of Torres that has applied all too often when he's been out of form (which it used to be, this is the third manager who has played him when no-one else thought sensible) is nothing now to with RA because they are both scouse tainted spaniards  Why the obsession from RA with him. Is it ever so slightly dodgy?

Benitez signed nobody. Our managers dont have that kind of power, never mind a fat interim c**t like him

Benitez was hired, at least in part, in the hope that he could get Roman's £50m purchase firing.

If Benitez could succeed where others have failed he would look good in Roman's eyes.

If he ditches him it would be an admission that he can't do any more with Torres than our previous managers, and that won't really help his job prospects at Chelsea.

This is why Benitez will bang on about tummy bugs, tiredness etc, and will try and convince all and sundry Torres was the star performer when in fact he was sh*t.

He's trying to pull the wool over Roman's eyes ..

Simples.

He's rotating them I don't think either is number one in his eyes.

You could say the Swansea game and the Arsenel game are/were both as big as each other, they both would have a go in each game assuming Ba starts on Wed which he will.

Mentioned this in the matchday thread and whilst its a little harsh because we scored i think its still worth highlighting.

Just look at the position of Torres when we attacked for the first goal on Sunday. Right at the the top of the pic. This is our centre forward!

It actually looks worse if you look at the replay on the video here from around the 0:47 mark. He really does seem to actually run away from the ball, doesnt even look like he is trying to pull a defender away.

I know its harsh because we scored but its still bizarre.

There is no doubt Torres is no where near the player he was at Liverpool.

His time with Chelsea has turned out to be a failure.

His performance against Arsenal is further proof of that.

If Rafa  persists in starting him things will only get worse.

Since Ba arrived the pressure on Torres has increased.

From now on Rafa must start Ba.
