Fair enough I might have you confused with someone else mclovin

I wasn't at the game, I was watching the game and frankly after the sh*t performance he put in during which he played 80 minutes firmly placed in Ryan Nelson's back pocket the last thing he should have done is throw a strop and walk past the man who had placed everything on the line allowing himself to become a hostage of Torres. You hadn't noticed or wandered around this thread in the after match fair enough.

Regarding his selection - it was never earned, it was never warranted. Lukaku has more EPL goals in one season at West Brom where he was no where near first choice than Torres has scored in 2 and a half years at the club. Most of that time Torres has been starting ahead of superior players like Lukaku; Sturridge; Drogba; Anelka.

Sturridge who was sold has outscored Torres in the League 3 years in a row and generally has one of the best minutes to goal ratios in the League when played up top.

Drogba turned up for some of our biggest matches

Anelka sacrificed himself for the team many times and was played out of position

Lukaku was given possibly two full matches over the course of his first year here.

Hell even a loyal guy like Kalou deserved a shot at some point to start ahead of Torres up top.

By all accounts we should have started last season with Sturridge as first choice and Lukaku and Torres as second choice - instead Lukaku was pushed out and Sturridge was benched. In the end it didn't us a spot in the CL and we managed to scrape 4th spot but it did cost us any chances of challenging for the league or staying in the CL.

Ba I don't want to comment on because I never really though it was a good deal to sell Sturridge and buy an inferior player. Fact is that he might turn out to be good if given a proper run(14 games on the trot for example like Torres had before scoring his first goal). But I don't think Ba would get that chance - he had a shot if he had continued scoring during the first 6 months at the rate he was doing at Newcastle we might have though he might be the one. But overall I think it would be best for Lukaku to get his chance as either first choice or back up of Lewa or Cavani.

Torres didn't start 'almost every game for us'.

Of course he stared his fair share, he represented 50% of our striking options and in the Europa he was our only option hard though it is to believe so there was little choice.

Ba stated against United home (FA cup), United away (league), Swansea home, Man City (FA cup semi), Sunderland home, West Ham home, West Brom home, Newcastle away, Swansea away (league cup), Southampton home, Stoke away & Southampton away (FA cup). They both started against Everton which was the only time that happened so for every game listed above Torres was benched.

I don't agree with him getting picked for certain games, Ba should have been first pick as far as I'm concerned but the suggestion that Torres started 'almost every game' even when Ba was available is nonsense- it was pretty even, maybe too even but never the less it wasn't all Torres.

It certainly felt to me like Torres was always playing. Obviously Ba got plenty of games but I just remember often thinking to myself 'Torres is starting AGAIN?'

Even after Ba had just scored a brilliant goal or something in the previous match and Torres hadn't done anything of note. Cos we all know he went five months without scoring in the league.

The Rotation policy was a bit of a joke if you ask me, The three amigos started near enough all those games with maybe one rotated for europe. Nevermind the fact Oscar and Mata have played god knows how many games.

I feel both strikers suffered from the lack of concistency in barely getting a run of games for the whole second half of the season. Bit of Joke even the great RVP went a few games without scoring last season and he started near enough every game.

I'm all for him having a bit more confidence if we do decide to keep him. I'm not going to repeat what I think cos I've said it a few times now so let's leave it at that.

I think it's daft that he scored four goals against Tahiti and all of a sudden thinks he's Messi though. In one interview he said 'I am strong, I am comfortable, and very fast on the ball.'

Easy there, fella. Let's not exaggerate.

I don't think this thread should be locked. Torres is a Chelsea player, he's been poor for the most part and he's currently in a competition where people would want to discuss his performances. I personally don't care what he does for his national team but other users may want to have their say on him in the upcoming games.

I don't really see who benefits from any thread being locked to be honest.

The people who are debating (however low the standard of the debating may be) are presumably enjoying themselves.

The people who are calling for threads to be locked can just as easily not go into a thread if they think it is not worth their while.

Mikel & Torres are still Chelsea players and there will be times when there will be genuine reason for people to wish to comment on them- why should there be no platform to do this just because a select few have deemed the thread a waste of time & demanded it be shut down.

Don't get me wrong- I have seen the state of the Mikel thread with various members clearly creating accounts just to troll (they know who they are) which is pretty tiresome and reduces the credibility of the site so I can understand where people are coming from but it just seems a bit of a shame to close down the thread all together.

For someone that has torres as there profile picture and even as there name you sure are harsh on the guy. What's wrong with having a bit of confidence in yourself?

ah torres. dispossessed on the edge of the opposition penalty area, italy break, chance.

Ah yes, lets just pick out every little thing he does wrong, even though when he hasn't actually done anything wrong yet, and take straight to the forums to slander him at the any given opportunity.

im slating a chelsea player who by all accounts is absolutely rubbish. its that simple. take your snipey sh*t comments and keep them to yourself.

and he just missed a good chance there too.

Absolutely rubbish  :good2:

correct mate. glad you agree. after attending almost every game last season and having to suffer watching torres lumber around like a spoilt sour faced bar steward, I have absolutely no qualms in saying I want him to f**k off to another club.

Oh please tell me the story of how you logged on a forum four minutes into each game to let us know how badly he lumbered around.

to be fair, he should've been here within the first minute when torres let a goal pass by him when he didnt bother to run into the box
