i couldn't be more impressed at the amount of perspective being kept on this thread, good work guys. i also believe Torres is amazing/sh*t (delete depending on whether his last touch was successful or not)

I would have been very impressed had Torres scored against Italy, simply because Italy are such a solid side. I had a feeling it would be 0-0 cos Spain and Italy matches are generally really tight.

It puts things into perspective I suppose given everyone (mostly Torres) was starting to think he was Messi after scoring four goals against Tahiti, who weren't even professional footballers.

I'm not knocking Torres, I love the guy. But it does make it clear that it was Tahiti, not Brazil.

im slating a chelsea player who by all accounts is absolutely rubbish. its that simple. take your snipey sh*t comments and keep them to yourself.

and he just missed a good chance there too.

So rubbish that he gets into one of the best sides to ever play football in a semi final. ........

Maybe roman is threatening del bosque

And Mata doesn't get into one of the best sides to ever play football, should that mean sell Mata and sign some one who Del Bosque prefers

Actually scratch that idea, fire Jose - sign Del Bosque he's made Torres a goal scorer at the Confed Cup and European Championship, he will turn him around at CFC

Italy and Spain drew in the group stage, Spain beat Italy on penalties in Euro 2008, the final was so lopsided as Chiellini had to go off for a left back, and the last two goals came in the last 10 mins against an Italy team desperate to score.

Thought he was Spains best player last night although most of them were off the boil it has to be said.

Not suprised to come on and see the same members soak their y fronts when he loses possesion though.

Spain's best player !!!!! Talk about see a different game!!!

Not surprised to come on here and see the same members soak their y fronts when he completes a three yard pass.

I watched the whole game and kept thinking how untouchable Spain would be if only they had a top draw centre-forward.

Oh, and Inestia is still absolutely top quality.

Agreed i thought he was quite good yesterday.Like to see him start in the final against Luiz.

Spain are untouchable anyway. They've won every international competition going for about five years. Except the last Confederations Cup four years ago. It's very likely we'll be seeing the Spanish players celebrating again next week.

I don't really have a problem with Spain, but I would like to see another team win it, so I'm backing Brazil. It'd be a nice change.

^^^

true, but they still don't have a consistent top class centre-forward, which probably makes it all the more remarkable. Villa is long past his best days and we all know Torres gets selected, (sometimes), because they have no other genuine options. It is the reason that they have choosen to play without any recognized centre-forward on many occaisions.

If they had a Falcao or a Van Persie to pick they would be even more untouchable.

But Negredo and Soldado both banged in 25 goals in the league alone last season. The fact that Torres still starts over them shows that he is not as bad as many of you try to make him.

Soldado only scored 24 league goals but that's a good point.

Mata is better than Silva yet Silva generally starts. All Spain's attacking options are better than Torres yet he usually starts.

It's no suprise that when Spain needed a goal against Italy they took off their only striker and they actually looked more threatening after that.

Darren Bent has often been one of the highest scoring Englishman in the Premier League but never really got England call ups.

Sometimes as a player your face just don't fit and that's the impression I get with Spain not calling up strikers other than Villa and Torres, just seems like Del Bosque doesn't like them for whatever reason.

Does Del Bosque like anything? he always looks miserable.

I saw him laugh in the semi final match. I think he was talking with the fourth official and he laughed. I'd love to know what the ref said.

I can't believe you started Torres. Thought you wanted to get to the final, mate!
