Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

I wouldn't take rumours in the papers as Gospel. These papers have been keen to help destabilise Chelsea now this comes just before a important CL tie i doubt any truth is in this. This is just another attempt to cause friction at the club and fans take the bait.

Good call but hasn't he made it clear he has no intention of moving?

I think it was last summer when he signed a new contract, if I'm not mistaken. Also, it would be great if we decide to develop Kenedy and Traore.

The full interview with Le Parisien is on their site.

After bigging up PSG earlier in the interview (apparently everyone at the club said 'Oh no, not PSG' when we were drawn with them) he's asked about Guus's comments that he might want to leave.

After a bit of faffing he's asked specifically about PSG and he says it would be hard to say no to them. That's a bad answer to give. He's been told how to deflect these questions like every other player but he doesn't do that.

This is him creating a story out of what should be a bland puff-piece.

I wouldn't sell him nor take his quotes in French as Gospel until he comes out to a creditable source an says this i have little interest in these quotes. Call he silly but i still believe to make progress we need his quality as when he's on form he's one of the world's best. Sell him we are becoming Arsenal and Liverpool

When Juventus were relegated after the match fixing scandal, Del Piero, Buffon and others stayed with the club to get them back into Serie A. Those are real men, proper footballers. Those are the sorts of characters I want to see representing Chelsea, not players who run at the first sign of trouble. If ANY player at Chelsea doesnt want to be here and fight for every ball, every minute of every match then they can go as far as im concerned. Whether it's eden hazard, nemanja matic or anyone else. I'd rather be 16th with comitted players who I feel affinity with and who share my love of Chelsea, than in the champions league with mercenaries who dont give 2 sh*ts about the club

Really good post that.

I share the sentiments.

I just want to have players playing for us who are truly committed to the club and none of this faux badge patting sh*te from overpaid mercenaries.

I'm not sure whether Hazard has been correctly interpreted with this latest interview.  But, if he has and if he leaves I will despise him for as long as he plays.  He is part of the reason we are in this mess this season and if he had any guts whatsoever he would dig in next season as get us back to the top of the pile again.

Sadly in the five decades I have been supporting our club much has changed - for sure there has always been an element of fast cars, fast women and decent-ish salaries.

But nowadays we have very young guys picking up a million or so a month (what the average UK man earns in a lifetime) in the sure knowledge that the gravy train just keeps rolling along even if they have performed badly during the season.  And they don't just worry about their contract pay any more - now it's all about image rights, poxy crisps and after shave adverts and growing the individuals 'brand'.

Nonsense really and it sickens me to see some of the attitudes they adopt - at St James's Park this season I saw one of the most gutless and pathetic displays by our team in years and only five players could even be arsed to walk about 10m in the direction of our fans and applaud and Hazard wasn't one of them.

The rest just scuttled off down the tunnel.  They'd done their time on the pitch, passed 'Go' on the crazy monopoly board of EPL football, picked up another couple of million between them and were buggering off home in a luxurious coach.  Oh my how I laughed as we drove back in pouring rain for 5 hours wondering why the ***k we'd spent around £250 for the day to dump more money into their bloated bank accounts.

So, if he really wants to go then fine.  He's been a total crock of crap this season esp' at £200k a week.

If he stays, gets stuck in and helps us on our way again then that too will be fine with me and he'll have earned my respect.

I look forward to seeing how this one pans out.

If he places CL football above our Domestic prizes i think he will go, hopefully we get a manager who fires his ambition and he comes back with a bang, and a new determination to make No1 in England again..

Up to him end of the day, and his attitude towards the club and his career.

As has been said he has won the big one in England already, only opportunity he would miss out on by going abroad would be the FA cup, which we have a small chance of picking up this season.

So if us not being in the CL next season is enough of a reason for him to want to leave, whether he goes for the riches of PSG or to fulfill his desire to play for Zidane at real, then I am fine with that, so long as we get a top fee. One bad season does not make him cheap, and PSG have bucket loads of cash to force Real to pay up. Minimum fee I would accept would be 80mill.

On the other hand if he decides he wants to stay and put right a poor season and his own terrible form, I am good with that as well.

Hoping he doesn't jump ship at the earliest opportunity.

Would like to think we can build around him for the next couple of years and he regains confidence and form.

Don't see his slump this season as anything other than a temporary thing.

Sell Hazard to the highest bidder outside of England.

He keeps sending cryptic messages about wanting to leave to another club for various reasons. If he doesn't have the desire to be here get rid of him and use the cash to buy two or three top players.

I'll take Riyad Mahrez for 40 mil, Yaya for 20 and Ross Barkley for 30-35.

For me those 3 are more valuable than Hazard who obviously is not interested in helping dig Chelsea out of the hole he has helped create.

Yaya as in Toure?

No thanks, he's what 32/33 and looks totally spent as a top class midfielder.

He looked good to me vs Tottenham yesteryday despite the loss.

Every team needs top class experienced players to give the team leadership and character. Toure can still play at a high level and he doesn't have to play every game.

Well at £20 million (or even a few million) and on an absolute fortune on wages all on top of him being in his latter part of his career with the best days behind him I wouldn't be interested.

In terms of midfield we need someone who can feature long term IMO.

Toure will be off to China, that's where the big bucks are and Toure does love the big bucks after all.

I'm sure we can keep him. Remember De Gea stayed and eventually signed a new deal. He was even more adamant about leaving.

Say to him, "give me one year to help us get back into the CL and then you'll have your wish." Who knows what can happen in a one year. De Gea signed a new deal within weeks.

It also sends out the wrong message that we're losing our best player at a time when we need him most, with no CL.

I don't think he will go off to China this soon. He's still quality and a team like Juventus, PSG, Monaco or a Turkish team will probably pay to have him and that will give him CL football.

Either way, Toure is just an option I like there are many other players we can buy with that cash. Would be nice to unearth an unknown or young prospect for a value cost and see him become a star also.

What does it say about a player who has been one of the main reasons his team has struggled and he's talking about going to other teams?

A class player would shoot down those rumours and be adamant about staying to re-build his club.

I don't even want him at this point if what he said is as it sounds.

100%. One more season and see how he feels after that.

At this point he's useless and has bad additive, he looks on the pitch like he doesn't want to play for Chelsea.

Yes me may struggling with his fitness but I don't believe that's the case since beginning of the season.

The funny thing he won't be going to RM anytime soon.

PSG is there for him.

Barcelona won't go for him.

Perhaps Bayern but I don't think they would throw massive amount of money for player that at this point looks very iffy.. It would be too risky for them.

We are going to get a lot less for him if he replicates this season next year to though. So i would prefer to sell him now if we can get a pretty penny for him and wisely use the money we get from him. Preferably young english talent with the right attitide and hunger to become one of the best. Barkley for example.
