January 23, 20197 yr I'm hoping that Gay 4 Diego (hmmm?) is merely jesting in their post. The "it's all over" and the "whoa" I think were a jibe at the sensationalism of the press to find stories where there are none. At least I hope I am right in that context. As stated, this is a nothing story. I think Eden himself has said in the past that he know's he's not captain material, so this shouldn't really come as a surprise. A creative player, out on the wing, who likes to come in and get involved. Nothing more than that.
January 24, 20197 yr The reliable Matt Law says this morning that Real Madrid will be making an opening bid for Hazard. Sounds as if it is happening.

January 24, 20197 yr I wondering if Hazard is actually symbolic of this team. Sometimes brilliant, sometimes goes missing. I think it’s time to break up this team and rebuild it. It looks tired and stale.

He's a great player but I wonder if we might be able to become a better 'team' in his absence. Challenge is whether you trust the hierarchy to adequately replace him.

The fact that Jose, Conte and Sarri have all called out his lack of defensive contributions is significant. It was interesting that Sarri called him an “individual” player. Maybe we will be a better team without him - big statement I know.

I think it’s time to break up this team and rebuild it. It looks tired and stale. But I think that could be said of most teams (bar the dippers and City this season). We were spoilt for years by having a backbone of unbelievable quality and reliability but since we have lost JT, Ash, Lamps, Drogs, Cech + a few others, we have struggled to be a consistent side. We have players that are great, even exceptional at times, but we just don't have that REAL quality now, which is why we are battling it out for top 4 along with Sp*rs, the gooners and utd. As much as I am a massive fan of Hazard, I can see the merit in cashing in and re-building the squad. But you have to have someone doing that who knows exactly what they are doing and can be 100% trusted and who isn't going to fritter away £150M on more Drinkwaters, Morata's, Zappercosta's................etc. If we do lose Hazard and we don't replace wisely, we really could be then doing battle for mid-table with the Everton's and Wolves. Folk are very quick to overlook just HOW important a player and how many points he has won us over the seasons. He isn't irreplaceable but we will need a few players to give us what he has given us on his own.
January 24, 20197 yr Transition doesn't happen over night and losing Hazard would certainly weaken any continuity the team may require. I'd like to think we can keep Hazard and invest in a decent centre forward. Higuain isn't a long term solution although I do have high hopes. We may get a season and a half out of him but we need a younger forward as well. Someone for Hazard to feed and play off. At the moment the false 9 thing isn't working because he naturally plays on the left and comes in. I suspect Sarri knows this but is only persevering because our current forwards are so poor. I really want Hazard to stay but if he goes the club really should hold out for top dollar. £200 million and negotiate down. It's a new market every season and finding a replacement or two will be more expensive than ever. Maybe Higains arrival will tempt Hazard to extend his contract. I'd pay Hazard £500k or even more a week to keep him.
January 24, 20197 yr Hazard is rubbish, I dont know why any top team would ever even go near him, and he causes trouble all the time, pinching other kids sweets, giving them wedgies, not listening in class. So to sum up, no one should ever buy him...EVER.... Just in case anyone from Madrid is reading...

Everyone would have said losing Suarez and then Coutinho would be a massive loss but they actually look a better team without them and the players that fit for them now. Could we do better without him?

Could we do better without him? As I've said above, we would only do better without him if we signed a number (3-4) real quality players. Then we might not have 1 player who is viewed as one of the best in the world, but we would have more depth and not be too reliant on one player to keep producing every week. But our club do have a habit of signing second rate players so could we do better without Hazard? Possibly, although probably NOT.
January 24, 20197 yr Hope Eden has it in him to want to show Sarri he's a leader by his superb std of football he delivers
January 25, 20197 yr Showed again last night that when he's on song, he is on a completely different level to just about anyone else in the PL. Don't even want to begin to think of CFC without Hazard
January 25, 20197 yr Hazard said: 'For me as a winger you know I like to play with top players. 'With Chelsea I had the chance to play with one of the best in Diego Costa for three years, and I think Higuain is one of the best. 'My position is more winger than No 9, but me, I just try to have fun with my striker, with the other winger, so when the striker is there it is good for me. 'We all know that I like to play the give and go with my striker, so if the striker just goes deep, I am going to be in trouble, but Giroud understands this, that's why I like to play with him. 'We all know that, and I think Higuain is going to do the same, and of course he is a fantastic striker, he has scored a lot of goals, when you see his career, Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus, he has always scored goals.' He said: 'My reaction is to be on the pitch and try to do my best. Managers in the past have talked about me, this manager talked about me, the next manager is going to talk about me. 'My target is just to play football. I don't care what people think, I just want to do my best. 'Today I did, not against Arsenal, of course, but now I look to the future and I will do my best again. 'We didn't talk about (the criticism). I don't have a problem with that. A manager can think what they want to think. 'For me the best response is to be on the pitch and winning games. I understand, when the team is not playing well, the manager has to criticise players. 'I'm not saying I am the best player, but when there is always this kind of player who can help the team to win the game, I just try to do my best. 'I am not focused on what the manager says, I don't care about that. 'To be fair, if the manager has to say something he will say it, we are men, big men, so we can talk together, so no problem at all. 'In the dressing room all of the players, we have almost won everything. We are big players. 'We know when we are not playing well, and we know when we are playing good. So at the end we just need to look in the same way and try to win games. That's it.'
January 25, 20197 yr I'll be really upset if he does leave but I won't hold it against him, it's now or never really. Like I said in the last post, I think Hazard is more interested about this deal than Madrid are, and if he wants to go we should sell him instantly. Pointless keeping a player who doesn't want to be here for another year, especially when he'll be going for absolutely nothing, I just hope he makes his decision quickly but I did hear that he'll make his decision when the season is over.

January 27, 20197 yr Hazard is now Madrid's main target after Los Blancos ended their interest in Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen. Like Hazard, Eriksen's contract expires in 2020, but Madrid have opted not to go after the Dane in a bid to avoid a transfer war with Spurs, a club they consider an ally after successfully doing business over Modric and Gareth Bale in the past.

Rubbish story .. no sources and the excuse (club relations) laughable.. I wouldn’t bother reading..
January 30, 20197 yr Can't believe this isn't a hot potato of a topic, Sarri has apparently said Eden can leave if he wants, on SS .playing a nice game of poker there maurizio, if RM don't make noises about a positive purchase inquiry, the flavour of the media outcry is going to change. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11622145/sarri-hazard-can-leave-if-he-wants
January 30, 20197 yr I don’t have any problem with what Sarri said there. We are bored of Hazard rumours, it’s been going on for at least 3/4 years so we may as well give him the ultimatum and then we can prepare for summer. I think with the transfer ban looming, we simply don’t have the time for a transfer saga. He either signs a new contract or he leaves.

January 31, 20197 yr IS it just just me or is anyone else tired of Hazard? I hate players who whore themselves out to other clubs. Utter disrespect. Mark my words, Hazard will do the same as Courtois starting next season. 100%.
