Whenever I see Zouma with the ball, I always think he looks like the most uncomfortable football player ever. 

 I think the love for Zouma after the Palace game really emphasises how poor we are defensively. Without bothering to look I'll wager I'll find posts saying he has to go and isn't remotely good enough to be a first team player. The same posts exist for all our centre half options.  Today he played well and made that tackle at the death. But he also conceded a totally unnecessary corner not long before that. We got away with it. Against West Ham, Rudiger did the same and we didn't get away with it. He got hammered for it. Next week Zouma may make a cock up and suddenly he will be back in the 'get rid' camp.  Its hard to think of a consistently top class side who didn't have a leader at the back. A Terry, Kompany, Baresi, Beckenbauer, or Erland Johnsen.   We need that dominating influence and voice at the heart of the defence. Someone who leads by example, commands authority and demands a certain standard. Just now none of our defenders do that. Nobody organises them or portrays a need for collective responsibility. 

Did Zouma got MOTM today? He deserves it. 

Curious why's he been on the bench for so long.

Did you not see Rudi, under no pressure, toe poke the ball out for a corner which resulted in a goal for West Ham?

That tackle by Zouma probably saved us 2 points and could  turn out to be his most important moment in a Chelsea shirt.

i think that is more because of his passing technique, where you bend your knee slightly and as you are kicking the ball it almost passes over it. while it looks ugly it usually also means more accuracy and pace in your passes.

Agreed, it's really a sign of how dramatically our defensive standards have dropped, not just from the 'glory' days of JT, Carvalho, etc., but even from a few years ago.

A top defender who doesn't get the credit he deserves. He knows his limitations on the ball but defensively his attributes far out way that. With the right partner can perform a good partnership but i think the partner needed isn't currently at the club

I have criticised Zouma more than anybody, but over the season, he has proven to be our most consistent CB (which isn't saying much) so he has earnt at least a bit of praise. I do think we need an upgrade on all 4 of our CB's though. Zouma will have to do for now, but we really need much better going forward.

We should make use of him while he still has the pace and power. By 29 he'll decline massively unless he learns how to position himself properly starting now.

He's a defender who relies solely on his physical characteristic. Wished he had a JT on the team to learn from, he'd improve leaps and bounds

It probably is time to sell Kante, he's not the same player he was before. Makes more mistakes and much more injury prone. Also probably the last year where we can cash in on Kante as well and get a good juicy sum for him.

The Suns linking Zouma with Spurs, why would we sell our only decent Cb to Spurs??!

Easy clickbait. It's known Mourinho is a fan. Will never happen mind you. Wouldn't be surprised if we don't sell a single player to Spurs for decades after the Modric saga. 

I seem to remember Zouma switching off quite a lot earlier in the season and being in the defence that also couldn’t mark a corner to save their lives. I think a lot of people are doing the same thing as with Christensen and getting way too carried away. Zouma played well but he’s not good enough to be our starter next season.
