Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Coped well after the early booking.

Carried the ball well, read the game well and his weight of pass at times is sublime.

Love to see how he copes against better opposition but we might have just saved ourselves £60million!

I aknowledge the opposition was weak but I thought it was a big statement by Jose to start him given the pressure was on before the game. He did really well and looked energetic. I like his forward runs -'very Yaya Toure like.

Do you think he suits playing as a DM?

I think he is very flexable so he could yes, your similitude to yaya is right he should be a box to box dm/cm he is far more attacking than matic so could be good in that double pivot, or in a 4 3 3 as matic is already a very good dm that can hand back between the lines

Very promising. Gives us options as well, can sit there and keep it simple, but can also push on where necessary. Surely should start to edge in front of Ramires/Mikel as the season progresses?

First time I've seen something to buy into the hype. Promising performance, I like how quickly he gets the ball out from under his feet when receiving the ball, very slick player to watch, got a bit of Berbatov about him.

seems to have berbatovs aura of nonchalance about him at times if that's what you're implying? Don't forget Berbatov was notorious for his lack of work rate at times something RLC needs to avoid if he is to make it in a Mourinho team

Expect to see him much more this season

Capital One Cup ties. FA Cup ties. Bogus CL ties and the occasional prem appearances. Could easily get to 15 starts this season.

Although he had a bright performance, Mourinho will not start him in any EPL matches bar injuries to other midfielders.  Can't be blamed for that though as he's still a promising youngster.  The blame should be accorded to the Board for failing to bring in a quality central midfielder to provide competition to Fabregas and Matic which also led to Mikel being retained when he should really be sold off for being a deadwood.  Even if there was a new midfielder in place, Loftus-Cheek will still get games in the cups and substitute apperances.

Hmmmmm not sure about that,i think that has shown that he is willing to give you a shot if you seize the opportunities presented to you, remember Azpi and Zouma,i would not be surprised to see him start against Arsenal and if he plays well against them who knows

If Jose is brave enough to start with RLC on the weekend, the least he will bring is the surprise factor. Wenger would have spent all week preparing for Ramires/Mikel in the midfield role. We are where we are partly because we were too predictable, the opposition could have picked the team for us. I'm not saying he's all that, but right now it's the time to bring him in and kick others a kick in the backside.

Yeah im thinking the same thing. Hes played well today, not the toughest opposition, and had to keep it easy and careful for the entire game thanks to that insane yellow in the first minute. Thats shows some degree of professionalism and maturity. Im not betting on him starting vs Arsenal but hes earned it as far as Im concerned. Keep performing like this and he'll be a starter by the end of the season if not sooner.

These are the types of chances our young players should be getting.

I was impressed by him, even more so after that joke booking after a minute...not sure if it was me, but he seemed even bigger out in the pitch than last season...really towered over everyone...obviously still raw but wouldn't have a problem seeing him play a lot more

He is a big lad and at his age his growth plates are still open so he may well have grown, he is 6'4 probably going on 6'5 by the end of this year and powerful, to be that big and still elegant is a wonderful attribute for a CM, I hope he has the game intelligence a CM to be top class

Predictable like run down our right flank and score at will?

Quote from Mourinho: He is potentially a very good player but you have to feed these young players and choose the right moment.

I think that suggests that he wont play on saturday which is a shame, but not a real surprise

Not it wasn't a comment on work rate, if anything I was impressed by RLC'S willingness to track back, especially after making a decent run forward.

I was more referring to a certain coolness he exudes when in possession, it looks very easy and fluid how he does things. A player like Zouma for example looks quite awkward and ungraceful in what he does, even basic passes but RLC as sense of effortlessness to his play.

He's got some great touches on the ball and willing to dribble and get out of tight spots. I dont think he will start just yet but it's down to him to show Jose that he can trust him and out perform others.

It is slightly annoying that English kids don't get the chances compared to other foreign kids. Kennedy, Baba, Oscar all quickly started games for us whereas RLC has to be "drip fed".
