July 7, 20179 yr How about Angel Correa? Can we get him involved in the deal? He'd be suitable for a second choice imo. Accept £20m plus Angel Correa would be good enough for me. Young striker with a really high potential, and especially him being at A.Madrid we know how good they are at scouting strikers. Swap deals happens less than Lukaku having a good first touch so it probably won't happen.
July 7, 20179 yr "Diego Costa is expected to report for preseason training on Monday, with the rest of the squad, Chelsea sources have told ESPN" ...... wow, really?

July 7, 20179 yr Who are the big figures who can sit Costa down and ask him what the f*** he's playing at? Who are Conte's main allies in the dressing room?

No Terry, Lamps, Cech, Drog to command respect... In all seriousness I wonder the same thing. Maybe Luiz, Dave, Cahill? Not sure how seriously Costa would take any of those three though. I really wish Lampard would come back as an attachment to the first team as a coach or whatever. Need Drogba, Cech and Terry to hang up their boots and head back to base too.

Just don't feel that back three would be solid mates off the pitch in training etc, there's no spine. I can't imagine the likes of Luiz and Hazard having a serious intervention when a player starts acting up! Lamps as Assistant manager would be ace.

July 8, 20179 yr There are holes in the whole text story. Wouldn't rule out it being a storm in a teacup.
July 8, 20179 yr You know I am growing more to believe that things will be smoothed over and Costa will stay as our main striker. Despite this supposed late lukaku offer I don't see us paying mega money for him or any other player (Sandro included). So a new deal and pay increase for Diego seems most likely.
July 8, 20179 yr This is all so convenient it's like the papers have made it all up. I don't doubt the text happened, maybe not like they say, but if it really happened like that Costa has done a number on us. It feels like we're the one with no chair here since Atleti are the only club seriously interested in Costa and everyone else knows we are in need. Morata won't come cheap and Madrid apparently won't sell him until they know they can sign Mbappe. I feel like we're in for the same thing next summer.
July 8, 20179 yr I said a couple of days ago, we may as well dig our heels in and keep him unless Atlético get close our valuation. I'd still be looking at bringing in another forward like morata, because you don't know which diego will turn up. No point selling him so cheaply when replacing him is proving to be so expensive. Things blow over quickly in football.

I’d rather we brought in a 1st choice forward, and kept Costa as a backup till Jan.

If he plays up we have other options and if he doesn't (to make the move smooth) we get a cracking 2nd striker up to Jan. Despite what others say i think WE hold the cards, AM will have to play somewhere near proper money, If not we let him rot for another season and a half and NO player wants that in a world cup year !

I agree he can't be relied upon, but it still doesn't mean we should sell him on the cheap. Hopefully Atlético cough up the cash and we bring a replacement and everyone goes away smiling. If they don't, then we need to smooth things over. He has been harping on about returning to Atlético for 3 seasons now, what does 1 more matter. It seems we do favours for clubs more than what we get in return. We have given away Veron, Crespo, Shevchenko, and Torres, which I could understand because their wages were bigger than anyone could afford. We loan top talent to clubs that go on to bend us over when it comes to buying their players. Let's look after ourselves this time.
July 9, 20179 yr There are reports coming out now he's still in Brazil and have no intention of showing up for pre-season tomorrow.
