I quite liked him, made quite a bit of money betting on him getting booked every single game.

I would have liked us to sign him. I think if you get him you will have made a very good signing. I rate him higher than Blind and Carrick.

You've got Matic, who is a better player at the moment (the best DM in the league for me).

Schneiderlin is a very good signing though, should it happen.  I still think Arsenal will land him for some reason.

Victims of their own success.

How a club is supposed to break the stranglehold on the 6 when any glimpse of success sees all your best players sold is beyond me.

Wages.  When Man Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea/Man City come in for you and double, sometimes treble; your wages - as a player, you're not going to turn that down and the club can't really block players moves these days as the modern day footballer is the boss.

It's sad but it's how it is.

Which is kind of my point, the gap is widening between the top and the rest which is a shame for the Premier League especially.

FFP was supposed to try and address that but if anything it just helped to maintain an established order... UEFA look like they're going to wimp out on FFP now so with the huge revenues that Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City get a club like Southampton has absolutely no hopes of maintaining any sort of competitiveness because they can't match any financial offer to their best players.

Lucas was excellent a few years ago when Liverpool were playing more reactively. He's struggled [somewhat] under Rodgers although their team looked far stronger when he was in the side than when he wasn't. Admittedly a lot of that might have been down to Gerrard being a massive liability but still...

Is it? I'm surprised he is still there. I see him to be a bit like our very own Mikel; he's been in the squad for years but why? Plenty better players than him already there.

I think thier best run of form where they beat city, etc was with Lucas in the team so he clearly has his uses.

When fully fit I think he is one of the best in the league, problem is that doesn't happen very often.

Quite surprised that Schneiderlin is off to United to be honest given that they have Carrick and Blind already at DM. That said Carrick is 33 and might not have much longer left at United.

He'll walk into that team and Blind needs someone solid alongside him plus Carrick is always injured. I think it's probably the best move for him.

Paulinho signed from Spurs to a random Chinese club for £9m.

Is it April fools day?

Why on earth would he go from the premier league to china at 26 years of age?

I'd prefer to live in China then Tottenham

Guy who broke the Sanchez transfer to Arsenal is saying they are close to landing Vidal.

Sky just said that contrary to reports, they understand that it's just rumour.

Good to see you posting mate, if you're the same bloke from twitter.

I don't do twitter but I'm aware of your account and it's da bomb (as we like to say in the ghetto).

Haven't really paid attention to this fella but am aware of his reputation so had a look on youtube and (though it's not always the best barometer) I thought I was watching Matic.

Very similar in style, and if he's half as good, you've got yourself a player, should it happen.

What happens to Blind? LVG likes him obviously so it looks like a full/wing back role for him, but then you've got Luke Shaw so maybe it's a centre-back role. You're overloaded with centre-backs and none of them great.

What do you think? Where will Blind play?

If we can get Schneiderlin in, I think it will finally complete our midfield. He is a capable of playing as either the 8 or the 6 and can therefore give us enough depth. For me, he is in the top 5 CMs in the league and would give us the steel of Fellaini but also with the ability to pass.

On Blind, I do not think he is quite good enough to play as our 6 all the time as he is bypassed far too easily on occasions. He is a very talented footballer with a brilliant footballing brain. It is just a shame he is not as fast/strong.

Also, interesting that Sergio Ramos is potentially coming to OT... For some reason he is just one of those players I have never liked (probably due to the Real Madrid theatrics) but he is undoubtedly one of the best CBs in the world and with a Ramos/Otamendi + Smalling CB pairing, we would look a lot stronger.

Why are we seemingly so quiet in the transfer market while our rivals are busy......or is there a blockbuster in the works?  Or is it Jose thinks if we recall all those on loan we might find some decent squad players have returned?

The Arsenal fans at work are very confident about next season. It's real confidence too. I hope they come unstuck in the usual fashion but their confidence is disconcerting.

I still would have liked us to sign Schneiderlin though. Numbers are needed and i think he would make our midfield more solid.

The Gooner boom bust cycle always reaches its peak when no football is actually played. When they're 12 points off the pace in November they'll be dusting off the Wenger Out banners.

I've had a Gooner fan I know posting pics of Cech on my Facebook wall. I love their overconfidence as I think it will be their downfall.
