Manchester City have had their restrictions on transfer spending lifted and will be able to field a full Champions League squad this season after meeting their Financial Fair Play targets.

I thought Platini had pretty much lifted the restrictions anyway as he wants the French teams to be able to compete, and FFP was only ever about restricting English clubs.

An interesting point is that Man City actually got around the restrictions mid season when they signed Bony, using money they had not yet received from the planned sale of Negredo. Seemed dodgy at the time, but it also seemed they would be really restricted in the next transfer window by having already spent half their budget. But now they can again spend pretty much what they like.

Will we abandon our new found policy and go out splashing again? I am not sure!

We may as well. If City can avoid restrictions again this season without really doing anything to shrink their spending then i don't see how we can get in any trouble with FFP.

FFP is a joke, UEFA aren't strict enough with it and are now giving up on it because they haven't got the balls to follow through with it. We all knew this would happen though.

What makes you think they haven't done anything?

They have gotten Richards and Milner off their wage bill, sold Rekik, Dzeko and Jovetic are pretty much gone as well. Take all that into account along with the transfer budget they would have had last season if they weren't restricted and the sales of Natastic, Negredo, etc, they are spending well within their means. UEFA have already confirmed this anyway, they passed FFP.

So it's sounding more and more likely that City will buy Fabian Delph other than a home grown option I don't see what he adds to them. For me he looks another overrated English midfielder.

For the rumored price of £8m it really doesn't matter if he's overrated or not, it's a great deal. He'll be a good rotation player to have in Pellegrini's 442 as he adds a bit more balance to that system than someone like Fernando currently does.

Let's not kid ourselves that he'll actually play, just a nice replacement for Jack Rodwell to get paid to sit on the bench and throw his talent away.

Rodwell played quite often though, he even got a long run of games. It's not City's fault he is made of glass.

Well I personally think it will be a move similar to Sinclair and Rodwell where it was a waste of time

He started 7 games in 2 seasons, that's not quite often. The longest run of games was 3.

Delph would just highlight how much money they wasted on Fernando.

Still think Fernando is a great player, just the last type of player you would want to use in a 442. Completely unbalances it.

I thought it was longer from memory, I recalled him playing a few games early on when he joined. Then he got injured for about half the season and kept on getting injured from then on out. It was his injuries that kept him out the team, he looked pretty decent when he was actually fit.

Van Persie looks set to move to Fenerbahce after agreeing personal terms with them.

Having already decided not to sign Falcao on a permanent deal I think it's fair to assume that United at in the market for a top quality striker, be interesting to see who they go for as there aren't many players available right now.

If I was to guess, I reckon they might go after Cavani.

Really is slim pickings, Benzema and Cavanni are the only ones I can think of but Real wouldn't sell a striker without replacing them first and they would face the same problem as United.

Audacious bid for Aguero from either?

I think Cavani is the only option left. I suppose they could ask for Benzema as part of any De Gea deal with Real Madrid.

But then if Benzema leaves Madrid, who are they going to buy to play up front?

No way are they letting Benzema leave he's too good to let go in a market where top quality strikers aren't readily available.

I can't believe De Bruyne is worth 50 million, but if this goes ahead I feel this has the potential to be a bit embarrassing for somebody. Whether that's Mourinho or Pellegrini remains to be seen.
