August 31, 201510 yr Great for us that De Gea is gone. Best GK in the league and this is weakening them. Courtios is still here.
August 31, 201510 yr I'm sad to see Chicharito leave the league, quality player just never got a real chane to shine IMO. If it had been up to me I would have signed him in a heartbeat instead of Falcao.

Blackett, Evans and Cleverley aren't exactly players that should be included in a first eleven aiming to win things.
August 31, 201510 yr De gea performs poorly for untied but they support him then he has one good season and he wants out. No loyalty in this sport. I hate modern football Loyalty is a myth, players aren't loyal, fans aren't loyal, and teams aren't loyal. You only have to look at forums like these to see it, a few bad results and fans are quick to turn on players just as they are to praise them. It's not modern football its life.

Wasnt calling this a starting eleven, not saying Cleverley, Evans and Blackett were certain starters. But if you were to start every league game in a season with those players I think they could do quite alright... mid table at least :) Edited August 31, 201510 yr by Bogga

In fairness if players aren't performing but still get a wage that we can only dream of the fans of the club are entitled to ask questions. If you don't do your job I'm sure you have to answer to someone. You can't say fans ain't loyal granted some do go over the top
August 31, 201510 yr United is actually paying 80 million euros for Anthony Martial. Unproven 19 year old that has started a few dusin matches in Ligue 1.The world has gone mad.
August 31, 201510 yr That is mad. They reckon €60m upfront with €20m with add ons. If that was Chelsea, I would be fuming. Let's hope their scouting department have done their work on him.
August 31, 201510 yr that lad is going to have to prove he is worth that fee pretty quickly, otherwise...

August 31, 201510 yr Martial is an interesting one. Way overpriced for his age, but he's very different to most youngsters. He's extremely physically developed, quick and strong, and possesses really great awareness and decision making but his technique rests somewhere between Demba Ba and Cuadrado.
September 1, 201510 yr Smart by United, if they keep de gea and add the two French forwards. Woodward trying to finish the DeGea deal
September 1, 201510 yr So DeGea deal is definitely off? If that's the case, it's probably LVG's way to saying f* you DeGea and a huge cost. Surely Real won't be paying 30M comes January.
September 1, 201510 yr United are meant to be pushing for it to go through though. Maybe they needed the money for another deal?

September 1, 201510 yr Just heard that we purposely sent the papers over late and in the wrong format to stop the De Gea deal. If it's true then that's hilarious. Yeah, De Gea is probably pissed and probably won't play for us again, but then he never was anyway as it was clear he had his heart set elsewhere and we don't need the money either. The most important thing was sending Madrid a big F U and that they can't walk all over us anymore.

So what do Man U gain by not selling him? a little face, as you said you don't think he isn't going to play for you again. So would £29m or £18m and a decent keeper not have been fairly useful especially if you wanted to sign someone like Bale, Neymar or Muller. So to save a bit of face you have kept a player on the books who doesn't want to be there haven't bought in a quality replacement and aren't going to get a substantial amount of money seems smart to me :/
