June 13, 20188 yr He is going to stay, he is going to staaaaaaaayyy, Antonio conte, he is going to stay. Because we are so cheap, because we are so chhhheeeeaaaappp, Antonio conte, he stays cause we are cheap.
June 15, 20188 yr Anyone watch Portugal v Spain? When AC let Costa go at the start of last season I thought it was probably for the best. But after seeing his goal, AC would probably wish he could go back in time and do everything he could to keep him.
June 15, 20188 yr it's easy to look at Costa's perfomance in regret, but we didn't get that from him often enough. Far too many matches he was sucked into being the panto villian getting into petty squabbles, and rolling around on the floor. When he is putting himself about, holding the ball up, and playing it simple, he is one of the best strikers in the world. I think his best period for us, was during that 14 game win steak, when he was going through matches, not getting booked, bullying defenders, and hurt teams where it counts, by sticking the ball in the net. He was never really settled here, but it was a pity the manner in which he left, and I think conte deserves criticism for that. It's just a shame morata has come in, moaned twice and much, and misses 3 or 4 times as many chances as costa ever did.

He wanted out almost every season too.

He is a real beast but as a player he has one of the worst attitudes, maybe for that type of a striker it goes hand in hand but if he was just a bit more nice maybe Conte would never let him go...Conte is from that Lippi old school where they don't tolerate any ego or bad mentality, sadly our replacement Morata is far too soft so we went from almost one extreme to another
June 16, 20188 yr Certainly one of the best strikers about when on form and up there with Lewa and Kane but as mentioned his attitude let him down.

When you have player like this, you have to flatter and ingratiate, not get rid of him. That was a battle of egos, it was not club vs player, because the club obviously lost from his departure.
June 16, 20188 yr I think Costa realised early on that he preferred plying his trade in Madrid rather than London. Homesickness.

June 17, 20188 yr Interesting little read in Marca this morning.. Sergio Ramos vetoed the appointment of Antonio Conte as Real Madrid manager after listening to feedback about him from Chelsea's Spanish contingent.
June 17, 20188 yr One thing that has never sat right with me about Conte is the fact that he gets "good reports" from players that have worked with him but dont understand why they wont follow him to a new club. Quite rare for a manager not to be able to take along players he likes from an old club to his new club. Players would make it happen and even take lower wages to reunite with their old manager but none of his supposed disciples have made that commitment to him.

Like Morata who signed for Conte twice? We were linked with Bonucci but he apparently didn’t want to leave Italy. Beyond that, who would you expect him to sign? He’d been out of club management so his ex Juventus players were doing well under Allegri. I can’t think of anyone else from the Italian national team who would have been an upgrade on our squad had we bought them that Conte has worked with?
June 17, 20188 yr Morata signed for Juventus 19th July 2014..........Conte left Juventus 15th July 2014 Edited June 17, 20188 yr by Osgood is Good

June 17, 20188 yr So much back and forth media wise, its hard to know what is happening and when. But the recent Italian reports seem convinced tomorrow or Tuesday Sarri's deal will be concluded, they even name the staff coming with him besides Zola. Soon see

Chelsea and what other club? He loaned him from Real but the signing was never made till Conte left Juventus. If not for the bickering between Real Madrid and Manchester U no way we would have signed him. Linked with Bonucci but he didn't want to leave Italy you say. Eh....I believe that was my point in the first place. It's not a criticism of the man, just a "mystery" I'd love to get some enlightenment about.
