June 30, 201610 yr Medical passed. Seems pretty much a dine deal now. Lot of dough for a kid with a temper! Be good to get some genuine pa e up front again.
June 30, 201610 yr Exciting signing imo. We can't attract the likes aubemayang in this window, so we go for a player that has the potential to make that same leap in quality. Really wish he went by his last name tunga! Sounds more like a footballers name than batshuayi. Hopefully follow this signing with top central midfielder, and defender. We will probably need a left back if the rahman rumours are true, unless conte goes with Kenedy. Everyone please stop with this madness. Kenedy is not a left back!!
June 30, 201610 yr Read "properly" and then write. I have multiple times said that Batshuayi is a talented player. Was just pointing out the hypocrisy of some on here who ridicule lukaku or "dont rate him", and yet think Batshuayi is going to be world class. see below Yes. the more expensive yet the lesser quality option. What a brilliant statement we have made. Brilliant job. i read alright mate
June 30, 201610 yr To be fair, all these year later and I'm still upset that we sold Eidur Gudjohnsen. and we've missed a player like him ever since. I'm sensing we will buy another striker yet. Perhaps more a support/link striker. the rumours aren't going away. which makes me think conte wants to play two up front. Wouldn't surprise me eighter. But i can imagine Conte trying to use Hazard in that position. I can see that too. I think he;d be a liability on the left of a 442 and I think conte wouldn't want fabregas in the middle of a 442- especially if hazard is in that midfield four as well. so what is conte's first 11 looking like at the moment? at the moment I can only see a 352 and despite my misgivings over azpilcueta as an attacking player I think he and willian will be wingbacks. looking at italy he's been happy to use right footers as the left wingback- indeed one of the key patterns that side uses is for the left wingback to receive the ball from defence or midfield and play a first time inswinging pass on the ground or in the air to the target striker, who then plays a first time pass to a midfield runner or his strike partner. of our current defenders I think only ivanovic suits playing in a back 3 (in the way barzagli has been used) as he is capable of splitting very wide to the right (owed to his experience at rightback). so lots of work will need to be done there. I'm not sure what his plan is for fabregas, but I imagine he will be relying on him. similarly oscar is probably the only player in the squad capable of doing the giacherrini role of shuttling between central midfield and moving into the left channel. in summary I don't know. seems like a 352 / 3511 with a lot of horses for courses rather than a defined first 11 at the moment.
June 30, 201610 yr I'm sensing we will buy another striker yet. Perhaps more a support/link striker. I reckon we'll bring in someone who is versatile and could play up front yet cover in attacking mid if required
June 30, 201610 yr and we've missed a player like him ever since. Agreed. Him and Joe Cole are two players who I wished had stayed on for a few more years. They were very unique players that offered something most players cannot.
June 30, 201610 yr Agreed. Him and Joe Cole are two players who I wished had stayed on for a few more years. They were very unique players that offered something most players cannot. Agreed, we have made some mistakes over the years. It's like in the 06-07 season we had let Huth go and Gallas followed. We'd have been better off keeping Huth that season as we had problems with injuries at CB that year. I also think Ballack leaving in 2010 was a dreadful decision.
June 30, 201610 yr Why not? Incredibly good on the attack and poor defensively. There's a reason we don't play Hazard at full back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
June 30, 201610 yr Kenedy is perfect for that wing back setup. He can run up and down the flank all day long [emoji1]

June 30, 201610 yr There's a reason we don't play Hazard at full back. sounds like a reason not to play hazard at wingback then. which I don't believe anyone is suggesting.
June 30, 201610 yr sounds like a reason not to play hazard at wingback then. which I don't believe anyone is suggesting. People were suggesting Kenedy at full back though who operates in a similar position naturally hence the comparison. What exactly do you struggle to grasp there? The point is you need to be able to defend in the prem, something Kenedy (or any other attacker we have for comparison) can do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk operating in a similar position is not analogous to having similar strengths and weaknesses. for example, milner operated in a similar position to nasri at man city- that does not make them similar players. willian operates in a similar position to salah. that does not make them similar players. beckham operated in a similar position to giggs. that does not make them similar players. fabregas operates in a similar position to lampard. that does not make them similar players. ivanovic operates in a similar position to juliano belletti. that does not make them similar players. if you need more examples then there are literally hundreds of them. in any case, you are trying to say kenedy couldn't play as a wingback because he's an attacking player and defending isn't his strongest area. as I've explained above, you've done a terrible, terrible job of articulating that point, but I understand it nonetheless. the problem is, kenedy has had two european cup winning managers in his one season at chelsea and BOTH of them played him as a leftback. and he received encouraging reviews in that position. talking about kenedy as a wingback or fullback isn't totally hypothetical therefore, whereas it would be with hazard. this is why your comparison is completely ill fitting and arbitrary. furthermore he's still young enough and early enough in his development as a professional footballer to be moulded into a fullback or a wingback. there are loads of examples of players changing their position at similar points in their careers. June 30, 201610 yr oh michy you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind hey michy! I'm going to temper expectations on the signing, but from what I hear he is a talented player. He was fourth in scoring in Ligue 1 and accounted for more goals altogether than 2 out of the three above him. 9 assists in the league seems like a high number for an overly selfish player....

He'd be bang average at LB when he has the potential to be incredible on wing. I'm sure Ashley Cole could have been a winger if he'd wanted when he was younger, but his strength ended up being as a full back. Kenedy's main strength is quite obviously dribbling and shooting, why would anyone want to waste that at full back? Wing back is another story. Had that been mentioned at the start I would have agreed and said give him a chance as there is less reliance on his below average defending and he can get forward more. Your point about managers already using him at full back was more to do with how bad Baba was than how good Kenedy was. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
June 30, 201610 yr Ashley Cole was a striker as a young un, Many players started out in a completely different position to the one they made a career out of (I think JT was a midfielder for example)
June 30, 201610 yr I don't necessarily think Kenedy's best position is left back, but it's not unrealistic or stupid to suggest conte might see him as a left back, when most of his appearances for us have came at left back, under 2 managers. There's also a lot of top rated full backs nowadays that are great going forward, but pretty weak defensively. He is a great prospect though, so hopefully he makes a big impact here.
June 30, 201610 yr see below i read alright mate Again, You need to read and understand. Which dont seem your strong suit. I have explained exactly why I think he is the costlier option.
July 1, 201610 yr I guess this deal drags till tomorrow. Belgium plays today. I guess they have given Michy time to concentrate on the game.
July 1, 201610 yr I just read this on the Daily Fail. £33.2m - Fee agreed between Chelsea and Marseille for transfer of Michy Batshuayi £11.62m - Amount due to Standard Liege as part of a 35 per cent sell-on clause £21.58m - Money remaining for Marseille £20.5m - Figure the Ligue 1 club owe France's football finance regulator (DNCG) £1.08m - Sum left over for Marseille If this is true, then that is unlucky for Marseille, they get pretty much nothing from it. July 1, 201610 yr He's going to be a flop, folks, a Spurs fan has spoken. Twice. Tottenham outsmart Chelsea by preferring Sanabria over Batshuayi New Chelsea striker will be a flop Edited July 1, 201610 yr by Charles Ryder
July 1, 201610 yr Again, You need to read and understand. Which dont seem your strong suit. I have explained exactly why I think he is the costlier option. oh wow, thanks for the personal insult which is totally unnecessary anyway, i've read all your post in this entire thread, and i couldn't find one explanation that justify your post where it says Batshuayi is more expensive than Lukaku all you did was saying Lukaku is better than Batshuayi, which then again, is very subjective, and i'm not even disagreeing with on the other hand, 33m valued Batshuayi is definitely cheaper than 60m quoted Lukaku. that one isn't subjective Edited July 1, 201610 yr by magichat
