Tiémoué Bakayoko

Featured Replies

i will defend him and say it's unfair to compare 28 year old matic to a 22 year old player who's still developing. it would be better to compare matic at 22 to bakayoko. if conte wants him then he obviously sees something in him.

I feel like he would be another very frustrating player to watch, he has a bit of the Matic/Mikel about him, jogging around the pitch.

For me he's all brawn and no technique.

If we let Matic go for this guy I really do think the club is making a huge, huge mistake.

I am not excited about this. Time will tell and I stand to be corrected, but not so sure he is an upgrade on Matic, who looks like he is on his way to Man Utd according to several reports. I still believe we need a more creative player in that position, someone like Dembele (Tottenham), not that we will go for him or that he will be sold to us.

Looks like it's happening. Personal terms apparently agreed.

- "Unless situation turns around, Chelsea have won the race.

- "5 year contract, 42m (£36.7m)"

- "Player was waiting for Conte to sign his extension to meet with Conte and seal his arrival"

How is Kante in any way limited?

I keep seeing people downgrade the boy who's just done a clean sweep of individual player awards and being in the team of the year two years on the trot.

It's bizzare.

I think "limited" is the wrong word to use when describing Kante. Saying he's limited implies that he'll never get better. Which is just a wrong assessment. I think Kante is obviously not an all rounder (how many midfielders are tbh?) and there are things he's still adding to his game. I saw his long range passing improve over the course of this past season, which was encouraging. He obviously won't have Cesc level vision but it's good to see he's growing as a player still.

He is however ridiculously good at the things he's good at - breaking up play, covering ground, pressing, starting counters and most importantly, shielding the defence.

I think Bakayoko is being massively underrated by Chelsea fans. He has quite a lot of room to grow. He's only 22 and already looks better than Matic. For one, his weak foot isn't completely useless for everything except walking like Matic's is. He's incredibly good at getting across the pitch, many times, in 2 or 3 strides. He always looks to play vertical, something Matic massively lacks, horizontal merchant. He's not the most creative but that can improve and really, if you can get across the pitch, you'll open up chances for the team anyway (see Essien for reference).

I'll take a midfielder who dominated Verratti any day.

I gotta admit, i'm underwhelmed, i have not seen him have a great game yet. Out of all of the Monaco players that have broken through this season, he was the one that impressed the least. His worst performance was against Juventus, he was at fault for both of the goals Juve scored in the second leg and he was poor against City too. To be so poor in 4 high profile games isn't exactly something you want to see from a player who will be playing in many high profile games next season for us ( if we sign him )

Hopefully i have just been watching him at the wrong times. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

His ability on the ball is a lot better than I expected and got a powerful presence as well. Seems the type of bulldozer other midfielders will be scared of when he is running at someone. Similar to Toure. Looks like it is getting closer and after what Conte done with our signings last season, defo going to trust him with this call.

Looks good in clips but seeing him over this season live on TV and the 6 or 7 times we got to see him in the CL he looked really clumsy and didn't affect games at all.

They do say never rate a guy on YouTube though.

Maybe he will improve and for me he has to if we are to start with him next season

maybe the style of monaco didnt advantage him ? running box to box all game , all year maybe affected him during the champions league games ? he looks strong and fast and good on the ball i wouldn't mind this

transfer . We know that Conte wont tolorate him trotting on the pitch so im not really worried about his work rate and lets not forget that he has Kante behind him .

Matic to united wouldnt bother me much , i was mad when we sold Mata at first but we cant really say that hes been killing it with them and we all know how matic is  anyway !!

A signing to play 3-5-2? More Mobile than matic I am hearing, giving freedom to hazard or cesc?

1 more 3-5-2 conspirator, welcome.

Conte hasn't given anyone a reason to doubt his talent evaluation. Good enough for me if he fancies him

Omg. Read what I said. I said the pairing would be limited. No attacking threat whatsoever and limited ability on the ball.

willing to give this guy a shot but i feel like he comes up short when being compared to matic and mikel who were also big guys but they both actually had a good degree of technical skills. not sure this bloke has that in his locker but would love to be proved wrong

Not a huge fan at all, but like others have said I too have only watched him a few games. What does have me excited is that it seems quite clear Conte wants and rates him. He is also not Matic, which is a clear positive from me.

His main attributes seem to be size, strength and bursting through the midfield. In which case, how much more does he offer than RLC?
