July 24, 20178 yr I see many people commenting on the manure vs RM match - did any catch that there was a CFC fan in the stands sleeping? That was funny
July 24, 20178 yr btw did you people see this last night? The Free Kick was the winner between Jamaica vs Mexico - this marks the 2nd consecutive Gold Cup Final appearance for The Reggae Boyz.

July 25, 20178 yr £161,000,000. One Hundred and Sixty One Million Pounds Real will pay Monaco £161M, for Mbappe. Football has long passed the line of stupidity
July 25, 20178 yr Oh how I would laugh if he's a one season wonder and struggles. Harsh on the player, but, still..

Football has long passed the line of stupidity I would have happily seen us pay that if there was a chance of getting him, would even have taken a short term hit (abandoning a few signing's) to make it happen. Some players it is just obvious. So in that sense it's bittersweet as him heading to Manchester or Arsenal would have been as big a game changer as Ronaldo going United, Henry going Arsenal and Hazard coming here.

I seen a lot of people saying stuff like this and I can't get my head around it. Like are you not a football fan? I mean surely you liked football before you liked Chelsea. If you're a football fan, you should be looking forward to watching what looks like an extremely exceptional talent in Mbappe for the next 15 years, not hoping his career turns into a nightmare because a club decides to splash a huge fee on him.

Like I said, I know it's harsh on the player, he can't control the fee being paid, but from a purely schadenfreudian point of view, I'd just find it funny if Real paid such an insane price for someone with 1 season of football behind him, and it back-fired. I mean, who wouldn't have to stifle a grin if they paid 150m and it turned out he was just the next James Beattie.
July 25, 20178 yr Politics in football. What do you think of this statement by Rodgers? http://www.the42.ie/green-brigade-brendan-rodgers-unhappy-politics-celtic-glasgow-3513726-Jul2017/ “Celtic is not a political arena for any supporters to come into and display any sort of political element,” he said on Tuesday. “I don’t think there is a need for it. Some supporters might say there is a political element to football and a basis to tell a story.

From what I've seen of him I think he is exceptional. I know he's only 18/19 and lots can go wrong, injuries, relationships etc that will turn his head but he looks to have what it will takes to go to the top and reach a Ronaldo level or beyond. No matter who buys him or what they spend I'm looking forward to watching his progress and hopefully he doesn't hurt Chelsea too much in the future.

Whilst the fee involved is obscene, some players look to have immense potential at a very young age. Mbappe does appear to be one of these players,a player you could build your team around, 10 yrs time we could be saying he has only cost Real 16m per season, yet again it could be the biggest mistake in football history. Whilst i would love a player like that at Chelsea, I remember only too well us being plunged into debt in the 70s and the future of the club subsequently being in danger. With that in mind I accept he is out of our reach and glad we are looking to keep the club on a sustainable business model.

I beg to differ. Obviously not all potential fulfils itself but some are just glaringly obvious. To me, Mbappe is one that's a very certain bet. He's special.

Football has long passed the line of stupidity Some of this window's other prices confirm that. It's long past the level where a single player can be 'worth' more than the entire cost - players, backroom staff, grounds - of entire lower leagues. I still can't see how BT makes money from the EPL while chucking money at clubs.
