If we do allow Zappacosta to go in order to create more first team chances for James then it looks like we're going all in on academy players this season. 

We could be seeing as many as 6 academy players starting some games.

Now we just need Bakayoko and Drinkwater gone and we can say Marina has done a wonderful job this summer.

In terms of selling players, I have no doubt we are great at getting good fees for players that dont command it. 

Our problem has always been (well in recent years) is who we bring in... and the way we handle our loanees

I don't mind Zappa at all. He's really not that bad. In fact, going forward, he's a lot better than Dave. We'd be selling him in order to promote James, not because he's a bad player. He's a perfectly good back-up RB, that injects a bit of energy into the team. He's always given it his all and if he goes I wish him well.

    I'm with you on this. I love his work rate. Always puts in a shift. I don't see him as a massive liability on defense. I wish we would have seen him more against teams that parked the bus last season

    Rumour has it Lampard is thinking of James RB and Azpi LB when he's back fit, if that's true then it makes more sense to sell Marcos.

    I just don't believe that. James is young and a rookie at this level and he's coming back from injury. He'll rotate at best. We're likely to play a lot of games.

     

    Edit: I guess what I'm saying is Dave will still be the go-to man at RB for the games that matter for a season more at least, though I have very high hopes for James.

    Rumour has it? I've not seen this anywhere other than on this forum mentioned by you and Terraloon. Can you send some links, I want to see who's reporting it.

    Well done marina for shifting Luiz and Drinkwater (temporarily at least). Euro window is still open so can you finish the job and get shot of Zappa, Baka and Willian please?

    Heading on loan to Roma until 2020 according to Romano.

     

    Loan deal to Roma. 

    Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand Iw ould have preferred selling him permanently as a loan deal seems pointless. But on the other hand, given how bad Azpi has been I would rather he start for now until RJ comes into the fray.

     

    Being sent out to accommodate Reece James I suppose, I thought Lamps might like him as he's basically the right side version of Emerson. One RB too many I guess.

    Chelsea was perhaps a level above his talent but he was a handy backup and seems a good guy. Wish him the best. Clear runway for James to compete now.

    Yes, and it sounds like the club wanted to loan Reece out and use Aina in that role.  But he left to play.  Ironically, he could have played a lot this year as things have turned out.

    That would be massively unfair on Emerson.
