September 19, 20187 yr Quote Ethan Ampadu has already accumulated plenty of impressive feats and performances which bely his tender years, but it is perhaps this line that will hit his age home hardest to Chelsea supporters. He was 11 years old when we lifted the Champions League in Munich, and like so many Blues fans, of all ages, it is the game he draws to mind when we ask him to pick out his favourite moment from supporting the Blues back in his childhood. ‘When Bayern Munich scored I was probably crying, getting angry at the TV! Then I saw my favourite player Drogba do what he does best, step up and score that header and then the penalty. Thankfully we won.’ Ampadu explains that his support for Chelsea stemmed initially from wanting to ‘go against’ his Dad, Kwame, who has strong ties to Arsenal, the club for whom he started out with as a player and now works for in their academy. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2018/9/19/true-blue-ampadu-ready-to-keep-learning-and-working
September 19, 20187 yr Didn't realise he was a chelsea fan. Like him even more now! Great news about the contract, just need CHO to follow suit now. I don't think I've ever been as sure of a chelsea youngster making to the top than I am with Ampadu. I think he will be 1st choice centre back within 3 seasons.

Will probably wait for CHO to turn 18 before signing him up. Can't you only offer under 18's a 3 yr deal but over 18's a 5 yr deal, or something like that.

Yeah that's true, CHO turns 18 in 6 weeks, so I'm hoping it is announced then, however I have heard rumours about him considering leaving on a free at the end of the season. Sancho is doing well at Dortmund, and I think a few more of the English players will be looking at their options. Hopefully we give CHO enough of a chance to convince him to commit.

Yeah i think if he can notch up 10+ starts this season in the early stages of the cup competitions and maybe 1 or 2 sub appearances in the league it'll hopefully be enough to get him to sign.
September 19, 20187 yr Good stuff https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-6184029/Ethan-Ampadu-signs-new-five-year-Chelsea-contract.html

Hopefully, he still knuckles down and trains as hard.

I agree totally, but to my simple and addled brain, if these kids are playing football, (on the basis that they must be good enough to be paid the money) in the first team they won't have as much downtime to spend in the casinos, the bookies, booze, drugs, punch ups in nightclubs and stuffing young soap opera hotties.
October 12, 20187 yr Injured his knee last night for Wales, hopefully nothing too serious. I still can't help but feel he still isn't ready for regular men's football, his muscles haven't developed fully yet so it's almost inevitable he'll pick up injuries. Just hope he doesn't go the same way as Weigl and Zouma who don't look half the players since their long term injuries. Edited October 12, 20187 yr by the special one
January 7, 20197 yr Shocked no one has commented here about Young Ampadu's performance vs Notts Forest - The lad looked good playing the midfield role - I like him better in the midfield than in the backline - here is the lad post-match interview
January 7, 20197 yr Love this kid. Never looks fazed or out of his depth, really hope he can be a Chelsea mainstay for many years to come.

January 7, 20197 yr Lampard made an approach to take Ampadu on loan at Derby for the rest of the season but was knocked back, looks like he's staying here. Might be promoted to 4th choice centre back if Cahill does leave for Fulham.
January 7, 20197 yr Sarri said we dont need another CB if Cahill leaves because we've Ampadu. Thats good to hear.
January 7, 20197 yr with his versatility we would be silly to let him leave, he can even cover Azpi too if Zapapcosta leaves.

January 19, 20197 yr This stud is all we need for the coming years right here: That's the smile that unzips bras btw, learn while you can brethren.
January 23, 20197 yr I'd honestly have him ahead of Christensen at this point, and the ability to adapt into midfield to replace Cesc
February 21, 20197 yr Major changes have emerged for Ethan, turns out he's been training at RB, and tonight he came on as sub for Cesar down the right. Held his hand up most of the night looking for the ball, comes off the right flank sniffing for the ball and a quick switch from left flank to right, nice to see him trying to be active. Dont think it's a permanent move, but just to help out Cesar who is looking very tired and slow of late. But great time for Ethan to get minutes.
February 21, 20197 yr CHO right winger, RLC Right center midfielder, Ampadu Right back - Chelsea academy new generation

I am not criticizing - I a glad that he is getting minutes, but i think he has played in a DM and a CB role in the past, No ? Seems like he may be our answer for total football

Seems like he may be our answer for total football I personally think he looks better as a midfielder. Where in midfield, I'm not too sure yet, but I think he's bit reckless to be a defender. He tends to charge out a lot instead of containing and likes to go to ground a lot when tackling. It may be just because he is young, but I do panic a bit when I watch him defensively.

So heir apparent to David Luiz then ..... :P
