Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

Featured Replies

It seems obvious that we have to choose between Kante and Jorginho.
Two good players, two different ways to play, but the only world class player we have is Kante.
In theory it will be the one that best fits what Lampard seems to want for the future, because one cannot imagine Timo Werner playing at the pace of Jorginho, but it is also increasingly difficult to understand Lampard.

Anyway, one of them will leave.

It's a bit obvious at this point who will leave...

Billy Gilmour will walk in the starting lineup if Kante picks up an injury again and judging by the fact that he plays as much as possible the risk of another injury is there.

You could argue if he is start deep & not playing an all action box-to-box role the risk is lessened.

True!

Lampard said that he's still counting on him. But Gilmour is also ahead of Jorginho at this point so it makes no sense...If the club wants ti sell him his value will down down while he's not playing so that's counter-productive, unless Lampard actually just wants to get rid of him no matter what.

If kova and kante are out, i would start him ahead of gilmour, who has looked off the pace so far.

No need to rush gilmour, jorginho can at the very least do a job against the likes of palace.

Funnily enough I think it was when we played Watford last season when he had the headband that he came of age as a Chelsea player.  Odd to see him as an unused sub. Especially when Kante got injured and we really just needed the hold the ball and see out the last 10.

For me I can see why he is benched, the way we have played since the restart has been very open with both full backs ahead of the ball and often both midfielders ahead of it too. In that situation with a dodgy centre back pairing and a poor goal keeper you've got to have mobility in that role to be able to sprint and make challenges. Sometimes even Kante hasn't been able to make the difference, but Jorginho's lack of mobility wouldn't work.

I was surprised to see him still on the bench when we were two-nil up and really needing to hold the ball, stay solid and see out the win. But much like Pedro and Giroud in the first half of the year when you're on the out you're on the out, which is a shame because I've no doubt he has something to contribute when we are seeing out games.

I'm pretty sure he's been sold, it's beyond belief he couldn't get a minute after 5 games ( even Emerson got a game for god sake). In today's game it made so much sense for him to come on to keep the ball moving and see out the game, instead of putting Gilmour out there.

Hello guys.  New user

If Jorginho is sold, it certainly is not for Juve. They just bought Arthur for that position.

Can see your point. Not sure it's Arthur's game though. I think Juve will be trying to move on quite a few of their midfield so could easily see Jorginho fitting in as well.

We would know by now if he is moving just like we know about Werner. There is no reason to hide such a thing...

Lampard simply changed the tactics (whatever that means)

2 different players, Arthur’s presence doesn’t affect them buying Jorginho.

Not playing doesn’t affect his value in any form. I reckon there is an agreement in principle with Juve, they just need to move on a couple of players (Ramsey, Rabiot, Khedira) to free up some funds.

His departure seems now increasingly obvious.
Unfortunately Kante and Jorginho can't stay both, you have to choose, for what seems to intend Lampard KAnte makes more sense.

Whoever contracts Jorginho will hire a great player.

It will be an important sum of money to hire another player or a direct exchange for that same player that the squad may need.

It's always hard to tell if a player has a future at the club or not under Lampard. So many times this season we have seen players disappear for a long time and then suddenly return to put in a few good performances.

Giroud, Pedro, Barkley, Tomori, Emerson, Alonso, Christensen, Zouma, and now Jorginho.

I personally wouldn't mind if Jorginho is sold in all honesty. I think Gilmour can do everything he can do and more, he just needs to gain some experience, and Kante is taking up the deeper role, so we seem pretty covered in that position. If we have any injury problems, we can always get Reece James to fill in as a DM.

Kovacic can also play there and no 8 position. Also have Gilmour, Even Ampadu and even Rice can play there if we bought him. I dont think we have missed Jorginho at all.

Totally agree with this Scott. I honestly think there’s already an agreement in principle with someone and the club / Frank don’t want to risk him getting injured.

It would be interesting to see who's coming in if he's on his way out. Should get a pretty penny for him and he was a key player for us before the break so would need replacing one would assume.
