Keeping Courtois gets my vote, if £70m is the going rate for goalkeepers then get another year out of Tibo and do everything we can to get back in the Champions League.

Offer him a new contract because he’s better than most others out there so might as well invest in a new contract rather than dropping tens of millions on a replacement.

If he leaves after a year, then so be it, then we can focus on a new keeper but right now I think we’ve got too much of an overhaul of the squad to do.

Whoever we sign. I imagine his distribution will be a big factor.

Whatever we do, we can not go into next season with Caballero as our number 1. That would be a disaster.

My vote goes for Kasper as a short term fix if Courtoiis leaves.

Gone for donnarumma.

Very highly rated but not the finished article.

We seem good at turning good young goalkeeper into world class ones.

The reported £30m price seems reasonable.

AC Milan have just signed reina, do you would think they will be open to selling.

Allegedly Leicester would want going on for £50m for him. Don’t think he’d be short term in that sense.

Areola, because if he has a few iffy games we can say "hes doing OK, just needs a few tweaks"

I think me, you and @Davey Baby  misjudged this a bit, mate.  It looks like most people are actually taking it seriously!

Pope is infallible and would also be very good with crosses.

Btw Pope is also the best passing gk in the league if you discount all the 5 yard passes Ederson does. There's a surprise for you

Personally I'd keep Tibo for the year because we won't be able to get a similar level or better keeper within the next few weeks.

It's a £30 million hit but that's peanuts to us in the longer term given a CL places brings you double that amount plus we have plenty players who can be sold to get that money back who are not vital to us.

Other than that I'd go with the Milan keeper who is highly rated and can improve still. They however are under Chinese ownership and simply do not need to sell. It would take a big bid and I'm not sure even then it would be enough.

If we can keep a top class keeper for this season and spend the time recruiting a new one who we can sound out early on and tie up then that's well worth the £30 million hit.

I doubt we will do it though, we have a tendency to allow players to leave when they make their decision clear.

Milan need to sell. They have just been banned from Europe for 2 years due to ffp penalties.

They also signed pepe reina, and Donnarumma has an awful relationship with their fans.

I think the main stumbling block would be dealing with mino raiola.

I seen that but do they NEED to sell? I mean they have been banned so will they not look to just take that hit and retain their expensive squad and just wait till the ban is over to star spending more wisely again?

I'm not that up on FFP so not sure if they have to get their wage or expenditure down before they ban is over.

I think they would be happy to sell Donnarumma and reinvest the money to improve other positions. His salary (6 mln/year + 1 mln for his brother) doesn't match with his today contribution on the pitch. He's very promising but still makes lot of errors, after last year lots doubt about his qualities. His problem is the price, due to his hype milan asks for him lot of money and he has already a very expensive salary,so Raiola would ask even more for a transfer, and don't know if any  team would pay 7/8 milions in salary for a player who is still 19 and needs some years to reach maybe one day top level.. But around milan nowadays there's lot of confusion, I don't really know what will happen to them, they have never been chinese, now they are already americans:biggrin: The chinese president never existed,he was just a Berlusconi's friend who helped him to move his hidden moneys in the world to Italy, the mission is done and the chinese is gone(one of the reason of the euro ban). Now the property of Milan is Elliot, who  is going to sell them another time when they find someone who pays what they ask,so they just try to revalue the team and the brand withouth losing more moneys..

They would definately have to sell before they buy, and I would imagine they need to reduce their wage bill.

The Chinese owner is struggling to pay back the loan he took out to buy them, so financially they are all over the place.

Donnarumma is a high earner, I reckon £30m - £40m should get it done.

If he has a good couple of years with us, he would probably be the most valued goalkeeper in the world given his age.

The Pope for me, plus a bid for the last great hope of Italian goalkeepers (Simon Scuffet) as third choice. This lad was the last big thing before Donnaruma, and has been plying his trade down in Serie B. Didn't work out too bad when we signed Carlo Cudicini!
