August 28, 20223 yr Unfortunately, that won't be under Tuchel! All Kepa can hope for is an early-round League and FA Cup run!
August 28, 20223 yr With Mendy in such dire form and costing us goals/chances, the time has come for the worlds most expensive keeper to rise like a phoenix from the flames and step up, first nailing down the number 1 spot, then moving on to world domination. Come on little Kepa - you can do it. In the words of Mariah Carey - there can be miracles, when you believe!

October 2, 20223 yr Good performance from Kepa at Palace imo. Will he be Potters number one, at least till the January window is done? For Mendy to return Potter would need to ditch the sweeper keeper role imo. Mendy is too slow and, as we all have seen, terrible with his passing and ball control.

His confidence is increasing every game. So much better with his feet.
October 2, 20223 yr He had a decent game, no chance with the goal, it was really poor defending from 2 defenders let the attacker got ahead of them. He made some decent saves, looked right with balls at feet, and couple of times came out of his area to sweet the ball. Be mad to put Mendy in as soon as he's fit, he has to earn it somehow.
October 2, 20223 yr He deserves to keep his starting place on current form. With so many fixtures in the next month both keepers should get some games though.

Funnily Mendy was amonngst our 3 fastest players in a chart that showed each player's top speed last season 😅. But I get what you mean. He's too slow to react and to indecisive, which is far more important than top speed, when talking about playing the role of sweeper keeper. Just wanted to share this fun fact. October 2, 20223 yr Potter definitely likes a keeper that can pass - if he doesn't fulfill the role sufficient, wouldn't be surprised if we got Sanchez from Brighton.

I can see this as well. I mentioned Raya from Brentford in another thread as I had read that on one of those News Now websites. I do think he will want a proper ball playing keeper. We talk about Kepa being good with his feet but he isn't really and never was a ball player. He is just better than Mendy on the ball.

There's a reason he hardly starts over Allison for Brasil, and I don't even rate Allison that highly. Both average shot stoppers. If Courtois had distribution he would arguably go down as one of the greatest keepers in the modern era, along with Neuer. Honestly why I have high hopes for Slonina as he has all the tools. Courteous is top notch, whatever people think about him or the way he left. Like you said there’s a reason Allison starts over Ederson. I actually rate Allison highly and IMO is the best keeper in the league. Anyway, hopefully Kepa will get a run in the team now and Mendy will have to raise his game if he wants to get back in the team. Our defenders ain’t as nervous playing the ball back to Kepa and therefore strikers will close him down less compared to Mendy where strikers probably believe there will be one big error in every match.

It will be a shame if Mendy is not back in the team! All GKs have their gaffes ie Lloris and De Gea or bad games but still remain the teams No 1. Mendy losing this will be more to do with his pay demands. He is one of the lowest lowest paid players in the team and rightly deserves much more! People forget we won the CL with him.
