Call me old fashion but getting in the top four is a nice bonus at end of season, but unless we are up there fighting for title, it means Jack sh*t to me, rather win a cup and have a good day out at Wembley. From the day I saw Colin pates lift the full members cup to Wisey lifting fa cup in 97 and the manyy more since, nothing gives more pleasure than seeing us lift a trophy!!!

I agree mate. A cup win is always something to celebrate, especially if we beat Spurs on the way to the final.

Game Day !

 Come on Chelsea.

Just beat them !!

I have absolutely no confidence in this, I can't believe I'm saying this, but sitting back and looking at the two teams and how they will probably set up, how the hell are we going to score twice, with more than likely a sulky unmotivated side, I hope i'm wrong but I have no expectations tonight. The bridge better be rocking early doors to maybe wake players up. UTC.

Big test of whether Sarri's Chelsea can cut the mustard when it matters most.

Spurs have got a few injuries and I'm expecting them to sit back a little, try and soak up some pressure and hit us fast and direct on the counter bypassing our high press.

I have a feeling Sarri will pick the Hazard in the false 9 for one final swansong before Higuain comes in to save us from the failed experiment.

Personally I'd like to see us line up as:

Kepa

Dave - Rudi - Luiz - Emerson

Kante - Jorginho - Barkley

Pedro- Giroud - Hazard

How I expect us to line up:

Kepa

Dave - Rudi - Luiz - Alonso

Kante - Jorginho - Kovacic

Pedro - Hazard - Willian

Hopefully we smash the absolute granny out of the spuds and Sarri takes a massive step towards winning his first trophy.... But I'm bracing myself for a frustrating game of not being able to break down a deep and organised opposition despite 70% possession.

I would like to see

Kepa

Dave rudi luiz emerson

Jorginho

Kante   barkley

Cho.         Eden

Alonso

Alosno might actually do beter than giroud and anything is better than the false 9 crap we have been doing the past weeks...

Tomorrow I would like to see a team effort that feels like the Chelsea of old. I want to see us play every trick in the book. I want to see us ‘leave a bit’ on one of their players early on and set the tone of the game from the first minute by playing aggressively and on the front foot. Surround the referee when they foul Hazard and demand he draws a card, he’s our star man for goodness sake, we need to protect him! Get the crowd on side and really go after them from the first minute, rather that letting them play on their own terms as we did against Arsenal.
My ideal 11 would be
Kepa
Azpi Rudiger Luiz Emerson
Kante Jorginho Barkley
CHO Giroud Hazard
I don’t expect that to be the 11 we go with but I can hope!
Regardless of who starts let’s really press them and force them into mistakes, rather than vice versa. Be aggressive and let’s have back some of the nastiness that we’ve really lost over the last year or so. I want us to be the team everyone loves to hate because we’re a horrible bunch to play against, not the team you know you can roll over if you’re aggressive and rough them up. For years Wenger bemoaned how aggressive teams were against his Arsenal side which was utter rubbish. Please don’t let us go that way.
KTBFFH
I know we need goals but I always prefer Kovacic starting against a top team or when we are playing away from home.

What I'd like to see:

Kepa

Azpi
Rudiger
Christensen
Emerson

Ampadu
Kante
Barkley

Hazard
Hudson-Odoi
Giroud

Ampadu would be playing in DCM, not Kante. Kante would be in his correct box-to-box position ;-)

He was awful in the World Cup though and it’s more a case of France won the Cup despite having Giroud as their frontman. I can’t really fault the manager if in 31 appearances (12 starts) in the PL since he joined us he has only scored 4 goals.

I know the stats are poor however the France team rated him as a valuable player as he is still a goal threat and occupies the defenders, he makes room for other attackers something that Morata and Hazard dont do when they are up front (Hazard is a double loss in that role as he isnt creating and while he does get onto defenders its not the same direct threat)

Yes if you have a Griezmann and Mbappe playing off him, but we don’t have any player of that ilk.

true, however Hazard plays better off of him and CHO would have a target man in the box

Puzzled why he hasn’t been loaned out to a West Ham to run down the last 6 months, and allowing Tammy to audition for his long term future till the end of season.

Giroud is very undrated. He was a very important piece in the french Jigsaw. Mbappe and griezman wouldnt have shown has much had Giroud not being playing and occupying the oppositions centre backs. He is a focal point and something we lack with Hazard as a false 9. I really hope Giroud starts today

Might be controversial, but i would consider benching Eden for 60 mins for this game. He's not been himself lately, and i think we could get more out of him in 30 mins off the bench, despite spuds scoring late in games, they also have shipped nearly all their goals in the second half.

We could start CHO on the left (we need to do this at least), Giroud up the middle, either or Pedro Willian on the right. Back to a conventional front line.

Then with Eden off the bench with Willian or Pedro we can adopt a plan-b attack and change things if needed.

:wtf:

I doubt we will see many, if any, changes from the team that started against Arsenal. Maybe Giroud insteas of a false 9 (hoping at least). with the fixtures aheas I suspect we will see youth/fringe players against Sheff Wed and then back to mostly the usual lineup against Bournemouth with Higuain starting up top.

Ffs Nibs its only a cup game against spuds reserves,:laugh2: get a grip, dont let a few defeats to rottenham scare you, be brave.

Hopefully Sarri doesn't try to force a front line of Pedro, Hazard, and Willian again. Hopefully he makes some adjustments because clearly the false 9 with Hazard isn't the best way to utilize him. Would love to see CHO on the right, Giroud as striker and Hazard on the left.

Sarri's gotta learn to adapt especially in the premier league. If he doesn't he might not make it long at Chelsea.

Just beat these bastards, Chelsea
