January 27, 20197 yr Decent 80 minutes, could have taken the penalty but didn't want to. Great movement and understanding of his role and good work rate, based on this first game he looks better than Morata.

January 27, 20197 yr A lot of intelligent runs in behind, shame Barkley and Ampadu were too slow to react. I can see him doing well with the real first team.

January 27, 20197 yr I thought that Higuain was quite anonymous against Sheffield but this is only his first match for us. He will definitely improve in time.
January 27, 20197 yr Yeah expected to see abit more from him but he didn’t really have a lot to work with. I specifically watched him and most of the time, his back was to goal as our build up play was slow. I did like his aggression in the box and half chances, he goes for it. Nice to see a striker be aggressive. Seems abit of an alpha male - exactly what every striker should be

Can't believe that! He has only been here 5 minutes and already you want to see him at Madrid. Give the guy a break.
January 28, 20197 yr It is very difficult for any striker to look good against a team that is defending so deep. I thought he looked really sharp and very clever when the ball is around the box.
January 28, 20197 yr Higuain needs to work with the squad a couple of weeks to really gel in. He doesn't really know who will pass to him or when to make a run. I think he will do well though. He already looked hungry to score much different to Morata who always looked like he was thinking what do people think of him. People who've made comments on his fitness are just idiots. Probably just frustrated Milan fans. He looks like he can really do 90 mins easily. Really looking forward him to exchange with Eden.
January 28, 20197 yr Nice movement and touches. Could have done with some service from CHO, never mind though.
January 28, 20197 yr Looked great. Especially in the first half he was making some lovely runs, and just oozed class. Already very excited to see what he can do for us this season.

Real first time... as in Real Madrid first team I believe was the joke
January 28, 20197 yr Looked pretty starved of decent service so can't really judge him on his first game too much. Wednesday were sat really deep and I'd expect most other teams to show a little more adventurousness. That said, I don't think our approach play for the most part this season has suited a traditional number 9 so will be interesting to see if or how we adapt in future games.

That much i think is guaranteed, don't think Sarri would of pushed so hard for Higuain, if he wasn't basically going to change how we get the ball into him, or provide goal scoring opportunities

January 28, 20197 yr Very good movement and his first touch is so much better than what we’re used to seeing (Morata & Costa). Didn’t really get any service so hard to judge.
January 28, 20197 yr That was probably the worst kind of match to judge a new centre forward by since it was quite an experimental line-up and there was very little for him to do, although off the ball he seemed pretty sharp. I actually thought Giroud looked better when he came on but by that time we had made a few other changes (and it's usually easier to have a good impact off the bench when the opposition are tiring) so it's not really a fair comparison. Hopefully we'll get to see him playing with the usual first 11 against Bournemouth.
January 28, 20197 yr Yeah, I don’t think he could have done much yesterday. Barely got the ball. Sarri knows Higuain so I imagine he will be coaching players to make forward passes in training, and he also needs time with the players. It was very clear the players didn’t know him well, didn’t see half of the runs he was making. However from what I have seen so far I think he’ll be a success.
