We are one of the best run clubs in the world. I seriously think that. And I really try to be objective although it can be a bit hard.

If you take out the managerial merry-go-round which is sort of our thing the football-side and club-side of Chelsea are run brilliantly.

Now all this will change. The new ownership will bring new people in. I cannot see us being taken over by an enthusiast like Roman. It will be some sort of group of owners.

Actually losing the managerial merry go round is one of the things I fear the most with new ownership.

The thought of having to deal with our version of Ole or Arteta for the long haul makes me wants to throw up.

Well, Arteta has seemed to have turned things around at Arsenal, so the slow hook for him looks to be paying off.

He's gone on these mini runs many times now (Ole did the same). They'll revert back to type soon enough.

A truly sad day for everyone connected to Chelsea football club. We've had ups and downs for the decades i've been following them but before it was like 'Ah well we are Chelsea' and just got on with it. This is numbingly different. Thanks Roman.

The sad thing is that is the new owners will be a step DOWN compared to Roman. It’s not like with Newcastle- that was an upgrade from Ashley.

We have to just hope that whoever buys, knows what they’re doing. I would hate us to have owners like the Glazers, Spurs and Arsenal.

This part of Roman's statement made me emotional:

"I hope that I will be able to visit Stamford Bridge one last time to say goodbye to all of you in person. It has been a privilege of a lifetime to be part of Chelsea FC and I am proud of all our joint achievements. Chelsea Football Club and its supporters will always be in my heart"

We've been blessed. It can't be said enough.

I'm not so sure. They've been doing things the right way, buying well, young players who will improve.

Just because they are on a good run right now doesn't mean Arteta is the way forward.

The youth players there that has serious potential are Smith-Rowe, Ramsdale and Saka. Everybody else is average or not young.

These youth projects never work out the way it's planned as they should know more than anyone. Many won't live up to the hype and the one's that do will eventually get fed up.

There's already talk about Saka stalling on a new deal because he wants assurances over the clubs ambition, if that isn't the definition of deja vu I don't know what is.

An unusually positive perspective from football365, and a nice counterbalance to the Henry Winters and the Chris Bryants of this world:

Abramovich the scapegoat
Does anyone actually read the news or analysis before wading in on punishing Chelsea and Roman for the war in the Ukraine? Did he have corrupt and morally dubious business practices? Yes, no doubt.

He bought shares from workers after the collapse of the USSR at lower than market value but for more money than most of the workers had ever seen, at a time they didn’t know if they would keep their jobs and salaries were never paid on time.

He bribed politicians for access, which was standard practice for politicians and police to be corrupt. At the time UK visitors were advised that trumped up charges by the police was common practice and to keep spare cash to pay off the police.

So based on today’s standard he was corrupt, but at the time in Russia is was seen as normal.

Now, going onto what he has done since, he left Russia, and moved most of his assets out of the country. Settled in the UK for the most part until we removed his visa and he became an Israeli citizen due to his Jewish background.

He is also one of the few Russians trying to help the Ukraine negotiate with Russia after the Ukrainians reached out to him through the Jewish community.

PS going to someone’s birthday party in 1999 doesn’t make you chums.
Rich (not actually a Roman spokesperson and can’t speak a word of Russian)

And from a Liverpool fan on the same page:

Why is everyone going in on Chelsea?
First I’d like to prefix this mail by stating I’m a Liverpool fan from the city of Liverpool, I say this because my view seems to be a lot different to my brethren.  Why is everybody going in on Chelsea? I know I should see it as an opportunity to stick the boot in too but I honestly hate it. Chelsea as a football club haven’t decided to invade Ukraine have they? Abramovich wasn’t on Putins war council when they decided to invade. Chelsea and it’s owner have nothing to do with the war in Ukraine so why are the snowflakes saying they won’t watch Chelsea anymore “because Ukraine”? This attitude is indicative of the times we’re currently in, this cancel culture nonsense that has no room for facts or nuance just optics.

Just watch the footy lads, it’s there to take your mind of the horrors of war, not exacerbate it.

Some rumours that the post was fake - but think it’s likely that Marina, Pete and Bruce Buck will all leave when Roman sells.

Massive loss if true.

And now this, from The Times:

Oligarchs, including Roman Abramovich, may not be sanctioned for months - The Times

Russian oligarchs such as Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich may not be sanctioned for months, after the government was unable to build a case against them, The Times says.

The Foreign Office and the National Crime Agency have not been able to prove that there are "reasonable grounds" against the Russian businessmen, and have been unable to link their finances to the Putin government.

According to the paper, officials tried to build a case against Abramovich in 2018, but was told that the government could be sued for millions if decisions were made on a flawed basis.

Would be a real shame if he's forced to sell the club but doesn't even get sanctioned at the end of it all.

I don't believe that. Roman probably has inside knowledge from the government and they have given him time before the sanctions.

Nooooooo….Marina has released a statement to say that she won’t be continuing after the sale!

Fake, she does not have LinkedIn. But...whatever. I'll be super surprised if she remains with us after the sale.

Don't talk daft, Roman isn't stupid, he has clever advisers, but any retard could see what was coming his way if Putin continues with his WAR. It's been coming since 2014.

Labour and the UK government could have threatened Roman in a letter or something and that could have worked.

Damn the poster of her in my bedroom will have to come down ...😪

Interesting that Blair's assets were never taken away. Yet he absolutely made a decision (with Bush) that ended with hundreds of thousands, even millions, dead and displaced in the middle east. He still comes on TV, bold as can be, and talks about current affairs. Madness.

Now I don't know if Roman has absolutely had a hand in any invasions or wars during the period of his wealth building. If so, and there is definitive proof of this, fair enough, but it seems he's guilty by association at the moment.
