September 22, 20205 yr I find the latest BBC articles pointed towards Chelsea FC, both of them mention Chelsea in the titles. Seems like somebody can't stomach our transfer spend. For me it's not really about Abramovich but its a clear coordinated attack on Chelsea. Why mention the club? It's a targeted attack. Nobody is saint but 2 articles in a day, c'mon BBC what a joke! February 21, 20215 yr Didn't we hear recently that Roman was still ambitious and wanted us challenging for the title? Where has that ambition been for the past 5 seasons? Won the league under Conte, didn't back him and was sacked. We have wasted 300m+ on average players or players who aren't helping us achieve what we need to. City spent £300m and they won the league consecutively and close to winning the league again this season. Meanwhile, the past 5 seasons we've dropped out of the top four twice and haven't been close to winning the league since Conte left.
February 21, 20215 yr Roman has always been ambitious. We've always or more often than not spent more than our rivals. Problem is we've signed too many players that have flopped. Similar to Utd.

Some terrible signings but also some terrible sales - de Bruyne, Salah, Lukaku, Rice, Ake etc. I understand the argument about the benefit of hindsight, but surely a proper ‘football man’ should have been able to spot the potential in at least some of these cases?

March 19, 20215 yr First time I’ve seen this thread and I’m actually in disbelief there’s any Chelsea fan that thinks he isn’t one of the best owners in world football or questions his ambition given how much we’ve just spent on players. After Frank was sacked I watched The Kick Off podcast and there was Rory Jennings telling True Geordie that he doesn’t want Roman as the owner anymore. So much so that I wonder what the role of the so-called "contributor" Lee Igel was and whether he actually spoke to Roman or just got sent a written statement. It certainly can't be drawn from the article that he asked any questions, usually a key aspect to any interview. Don't get me wrong, I think Roman is a brilliant owner and even more so after these latest statements. I just feel like we're overcrediting him a bit on the interview aspect. Because giving an interview - particularly as a very private person - is a naturally risky and delicate endeavour, and it doesn't feel like that was the case here.
