I'm usually optimisitc about any cup final, but I have never seen us look so bad in a build up to one before. I was more optimistic of winning the Champions League final without Terry, Ivanovic and Ramires than I am this one.

You're absolutely right, I was much more positive in the Champions League final than I am here, and we had much worse players then against a really powerful Bayern side who were possibly the best in the world at the time under Heynecks.

Now we're afraid of losing more than just 3-0.

every body is expecting us to get owned big time in this game, so it really would not surprise me if they go out and nick it, stranger things have happened, i think

Although not expecting us to win, like you it wouldn't surprise me if somehow we did. Probably the 1st Cup Final we've played at 'new' Wembley, when literally the whole country expects us to get tonked big time?.
'Stranger things have happened'.... Wigan beating City in 2013 cup final, 4 years ago Bradford coming back from 2 down to put 4 past us. Think i'll stop there.

We did beat City with 'sarri ball' earlier this season so lets be optimistic.

CHO must start drop Jourginio.........................................................................................................................no sorry still no chance both are not going to happen.

Only thing to be optimistic about & what is going to happen, is that it will be a mild day for the time of year instead of freezing cold.
That's a bonus as means hopefully i'll be having less pee's!.

I'm trying to gather as much positivity as I can before this match but I absolutely cannot shake off the feeling that we're going to lose embarrassingly. It would really help my nerves if we can see some sort of improvement (as small as it may be) against Malmoe first.

It's a Wembley cup final, might not have the support we did v City last time we played city in a final, (youngsters on here it was 86 full members cup final), but I'll be in my finest gear, having traditional pre match fry up at 8am, then on train to Victoria followed by a couple of warm up pints at globe baker Street, before going to torch for a few, yes we will get stuffed with this clown in charge but it's a Wembley day out.

That wasn't really "Sarriball" though, was it?

We sat in our own half, maintained our defensive lines, and tried to play directly on the counter attack. 38.7% possession we had in that match.

I honestly thought that game could be a turning point, Sarri finally showing that he can adapt to an opponent, and coming so soon after the disaster against Tottenham and getting turned over by Wolves. Talk about a false dawn...

I'm sure I read a report of that game where it suggested Sarri-ball went right out of the window because City pressed us so hard we ended up camped in our own box and ironically City in effect suffocated themselves and we caught them on breaks. So yes, I agree with PloKoon13, it was about the one game this season where Sarri-ball wasn't used (although not exactly by choice).

I can remember thinking was that our players deciding to ignore Sarri because it was City? Or was that part of Sarri's tactical nous.

After the match Sarri said that was not Sarri-ball, so think our players ignored the gaffer and we won.

If he's picking the same 11, we may as well call the game off and concede 2:0, at least it gives us a 7 day break until the next league game.

Seriously, if Sarri wants to win this game, spend the week doing defensive training and watching some Jose park the bus games, we need every player to run their feet off covering the space ,  frustrate them, get them to throw 10 players around our penalty box, and hope the counter attack click for once, or twice. Forget about playing stylish football, this is the  game only a win matters.

Managed to shuffle some work commitments so I can now come to the game. A big thanks to @12medals for doing me a solid and sorting a ticket for me. I had doubts about coming and seeing us being tonked but this is what it's all about right? Getting behind your team win or lose. I'll be there singing my heart out. There's always hope. As @the real shed end says, get down with your mates and have a good day out.

Let’s be honest, it’ll be the same old line up we always see. Nothing will change.

The players might be right up for it at the start so they don’t get embarrassed again, we’ll maybe survive until about 10/15 minutes in this will wear of, city will smash goals in and we’ll slump to a heavy defeat.

Not sure I’ve ever approached a game with this much dread. As others have said, I was more confident going in to the CL final with a makeshift team than I am going in to this one.

Chelsea 0-4 Manchester City.

Here’s hoping we’re all wrong and we can scrape a 1-0 or a win on penalties, but we look toothless upfront and leak goals left, right and centre. I can’t see anything other than a hiding unfortunately.

I never like or wish to come on here and say I think we shall lose, however based upon his presser today when he said there's nothing wrong with his tactics ("the system is a false problem") I have to assume the bloke's a tin or two shy of a six-pack. Therefore IF City leather us again on Sunday, and Roman carries out his ultimatum- then Sarri can trot of back to Naples and invest his pay off dosh in a nice little tabaccaio. On the other hand if he changes the system to a 4-2-3-1 and brings in Kante deeper to protect the mid and thus give more natural balance to this group of players, set up to play on the counter and not make ball possession the b all and end all we may have a chance.

Perhaps the players will ignore Sarri and just park in our half with 10 men behind the ball and play counter attack.
Trust me, I will like to have that surprise, Pep won't expect it. But we don't have any leader in the team that can have the courage to initiate that plan.
City obviously have a better, so I think it's suicide plays Sarri's attacking game. We only make it so easy for City to win the game.

I kind of think we have a number of experienced players that realize this may be our only chance of silverware this season and know we can't beat City openly so might chat amongst themselves when Sarri, Higuaín and Jorginho are not in earshot.
