Absolutely buzzing, bring on the final!

We really never do it the easy way! Really tough night, a lot of leggy performances and not a great deal of alternatives on the bench.

Just about did enough defensively to avoid a 2nd away goal which would've ended it. Luiz and Zappa with two excellent clearances to keep us in it.

Wasn't a fan of the booing for the Loftus Cheek substitution, Barkley did well and it was clearly an injury related swap.

Jorginho MOTM again for me, most of our better play came through him, covered a lot of gaps defensively, and took such a calm penalty when the pressure was on.

Wasn't our best football, probably deserved it over the two legs but Frankfurt certainly made us work for it. Lets hope we can wrap up a difficult, but progressive season with a Europa League win!

This Jorginho bashing every game is just so tiring now ....its beyond boring it really is.

He's not the only one getting stick for his performance tonight, Luiz, Hazard, Giroud, Higuain, Willian they have all received a lot of criticism too. The reason why people bring up Jorginho's poor performances more than others is because he is performing poor more often than the rest.

Too many players to mention didn't turn up. How much do we rely Kante...but thought Jorginho was the best out of a tired/bad bunch.

Frankfurt were good and Kepa redeems himself after what happened in the League Cup...bring on Arsenal.

Expect there could be a bit of trouble later.

We really got away with that. So many individual bad performances. Pedro was dreadful when he came on. Running around like a headless chicken and losing the ball constantly. Our strikers were woeful. Huguain even worse than Giroud. Hazard’s mind was on his new team for next season. Dave had one of his worst games for us.
That said,we somehow got there in the end. Credit to Kepa and the players that stepped up for the pens. Need to step up massively against Arsenal. We simply cannot lose that game.

 Bizarre substitutes as well.

Really?

Willian for Pedro was expected. Willian wasn't having a good game.

Christensen was injured, and Zappacosta had a positive impact when he came on and kept us in the game with his goal-line clearance.

Barkley for RLC - don't know the exact reason but RLC faded in the second half so it's likely his fitness was a concern yet again, and Barkley also had a positive impact.

Giroud for Higuain - Another expected substitution, Giroud had a bad game and needed to go off.

So is someone saying he had a "fantastic game" when he most obviously didn't!

of course I'm not gonna argue that Higuain isn't good enough as well, but he was absolutely berated after the United game, yet not the same reaction was seen when Giroud put in similar performance few days later in the first leg of the semi.

and personally, I think the whole "Giroud links up better" & "Giroud brings the best of Hazard" is overstated tbh, people say that because a few nice goals between them earlier in the season, but oftentimes Giroud playing has no effect on Hazard like we witnessed today. just my two cents though

Compare it to the impact Jovic, Rebid and Haller had. All occasionally isolated but great at finding space and bringing others in.

Giroud and Higuain stone statues by comparison.

Higuain had a worse game and needed to be put down. If Sarri wants him for next season that should be a sacking offence.

Good points. Had my doubts at the time (and am still haunted by that Man U game earlier in the season), but Zappacosta was arguably a runner-up for MotM after the obvious choice. RLC fitness probably the reason he came off, as you mention, especially with extra time looming.

RLC did fade after a good first half and looked like he was saying to Sarri what was causing it as he was coming off. Must be his back again...from carrying kovacic.

I think that when we look back at the highlights tonight and these were a couple of decent saves from Kepa, a Sideshow clearance off the line and the same from Zappa, followed by Kepa in a penalty shootout, there can be no glossing over this performance.

Yes, Jorginho kept us moving but his care of the ball, (along with all of the other players tbf) on a number of occasions was criminal.

RLC in the frst half showed some purpose but i fail to see any singer player can come out of this match with credit.
