It's the COVID-19 equivalent of deliberately getting sent off (or a fifth yellow) the game before the Boxing Day game.

Ah, the old ‘pulling a Diego’ routine! Except he remained on holiday mentally for the rest of the season.

This is a discussion for another topic but certainly people in general aren't taking this too seriously.

The 'I'm not gonna catch it' mentality is pretty common and that is the heart of the matter. That is why I think some players should show a bit more responsibility in this situation, at the end of the day they represent role-models for millions of kids around the world. It is also proven that this virus can damage one's vital organs, and sportsmen aren't an exception to this.

As @bluedave explained it above, the travelling itself is not a problem, as long as you respect social distancing and all other advices.

Does this shamming of our players extend to Drogba and Terry (both of whom were in Greece with Mount and co at one point) or are we scapegoating young men because narrative?

Absolutely! I don't care one bit if Drogba /Terry was there too. It could be Martin Luther King i would say the same thing. If what is likley they had a party with all the other geniuses from around the world they should be called out.

I know they are young and stupid things happen but most of us don't directly called them out you know, only the responses from some people on this forum to explain away the situation are kinda ridiculous.

You could see from the pictures and videos of Slabhead and teammates out in Greece that social distancing wasn't being taken serious. Seems to me that plenty of youngsters and celebrities was going out to Greece all at the same time and chance of catching Covid was pretty high in my opinion. Young people going on holiday together just comes across as stupid to me but then I like to think I have abit of common sense.

We just want our players to have a full pre-season, we're only thinking of our footballing pleasures, not exactly selfish but Chelsish

Yep and to friends and family too...stop being a selfish asshole for once in your life a give up a little for your fellow brothers and sisters..

Thing is they may not do it deliberately but subconsciously..take a moment and think
Exactly. Why are they even taking a salary right now!
Surely they should be giving up their entire wages until there are no poor people left in England?
Bloody selfish the lot of them. Living their lives. Following the rules.

Am sure they donate already and I didn't mention anything about salary stop reaching for what is not there. This whataboutery is exactly why thousands are dead...

Boris said use common sense but not everyone is blessed with the same level of sense...

Considering you raised children in poverty as a reason why they shouldn't go on holiday, your comment on whataboutery is extremely rich.

Anyone going on foreign holidays during the crisis are selfish bastards and deserve to be spat on by the foreigners.

1) I think this is all very micro level thinking.. Maybe this is the best thing for local Greeks and countless others in the Adriatics who make a living from tourism, they need this.. At no point i am saying that players had this intention when planning their holidays.. but rather right now from an economics standpoint most governments need people to continue to spend rather than save to ensure economic activity. Infact footballers are actually great for the economy - most of them are loaded and very few of them actually save anything.. so in a contracting economy them spending on extravagances while may feel insensitive is going to only help in the long run

2) The problem i will have with our players is if they break legal rules or dont take care of themselves.... as far as i could research while there was no law in place requiring people to wear masks but our players should have done so as professionals especially they knew that its a very short pre-season this time. Having said that we as fans are very hypocritical. If the last weekend scenes are anything to go buy, the general public within UK are not much into adhering to social distancing and masking themselves so to blame players is a bit rich.

3) Its really difficult to comment on how others need to donate and conduct themselves.. we blame players a lot because they are always in the public eye...  But none of them are even in the top 1000 richest people in the UK.. have you gone about questioning them aswell? The only people connected to football or Levy and Sullivan - one of them asked the govt for handouts and players to take paycuts..

i hope the above settles this debate and we can move on to discussing football.

Haha, do you really think this small? Very sad opinion. Who is to say a foreign holiday is more dangerous than Bogner Regis or a night in Mayfair.

The sad bit is the twats who cant do without travelling abroad for leisure during a pandemic. f**king idiots deserve all they get, you included.

Frank took over: masses of excitement, unknown, transferban, youth influx.

After the positive first season: masses of signings, pressure mounting, youth out-loans.

This is not meant to be a negative post I am just saying we are back to being Chelsea. I have no problem with it. I always thought the type of season we had is an anomaly.

With that mindset might as well shut the lot down. Sports, restaurants, leaving your own home anytime. Any social contact is a risk, especially with cold and flu season approaching. You know a new CDC report in US identified 94% of deaths have an underlying health condition?
Anyway not worth debating here, this thread is for SFL. Agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Moving back to Football..... With Kai Havertz all but confirmed I wonder what would be Lampards preferred midfield 3 considering we are not overwhelmed with injuries again.

I reckon Kova-Kante-Kai, Mount will most likely rotate with Kova but I reckon Kova would get the nod ahead of him in the preferred starting 11.

If you end your comment with "agree to disagree" don´t spout some stupid comment beforehand. You are right though it´s not worth to debate it here.

I see the same line-up although i hope Frank doesn´t play favours here. Just have a feeling Mount will get the nod over Kovacic but if he really thinks Mount is best for the balance of the team i will go with that.

Every position is up for grabs. The best thing is now we have stiff competition in most positions, no player can relax thinking they are 'first team'.
