Tuchel himself may be another stepping stone until Nagelsmann is available in 18 months. That would explain the relatively short contract.

Who is another stepping stone until hasselhut is free in 36 months, who is himself a stepping stone for the SECOND COMING OF SARRI!!

I think the missing piece here isn't just the results. Chelsea bought what you can only assume they thought from top to bottom was a special player in Havertz.

If you are Lampard and you don't build the team around Havertz- then you better win, that simple. I don't agree with those suggesting we were building for the long term. A long term lineup would have looke more like this 4-2-3-1 Werner as the 9, Pulisic and CHO as wingers, Havertz 10, and Gilmour / Mount deeper. The only time you saw anything resembling that, is when it seemed FL knew he was already gone. The modern plan for Werner / Havertz always should have been those two interchanging the 9/10 role.

I don't know if we have realistic time left in this window but going forward I would sell one of : Mount, Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic and one of : Zouma, Rudiger, Christensen, and one of Alonso, Emerson, and buy the best central defender you can find for the money.

If we had relied on Werner and Havertz we'd be fighting relegation! If it wasn't for Tammy's and Giroud's goals we'd be so many points worse than we are! And then you go and suggest selling Mount, who's been our best midfielder this season (and I'd argue last one too with Kovacic)... What next, playing Kepa as first choice and sell Mendy?

If this is true, Tuchel might also fail pretty fast and not even live to see the summer transfer window. Allegri next in line...

I know most of us are not happy with the sacking of Frank but give Tuchel a chance, it's grotesque to say he will be sacked for only making top 4. It is midseason and a new league for him only if he finshes outside then you may have a point.

I hope for the best but the board makes only short term decisions.

I also hope the new manager is going to improve the young players Frank brought through. I hope CHO gets more chances, I hope James improves his defending, I would love to see Mount dominate games rather than flashes of inspiration and I hope someone can teach Tammy to react quicker and get in better positions than he is currently. I know I am saying that after a hat trick but it really should have been more. I would also like to see wee Billy playing more of a part rather than just the odd run out he has been getting as he is one of the most forward looking DMs we have. All of these players now have a chance to learn from a truly tactical manager and could improve their game greatly.

I understand you don't rate Lampard tactically but you don't need to take digs at Lampards tactical limitations in each and every one of your posts.

He is right though. It‘s been a terrible performance of Lampard this season. To be fair, he failed in every single department and there is not one thing justifying it would have got better had we kept him for any longer. I mean, there are reports now about players complaining they didn‘t receive any tactical orders from him. I believe that after watching our matches week in and out.

Some people here will have to be strong when they see us playing with tactical strength and accepting that Tuchel is lightyears in front of Lampard (who can‘t be blamed, it just wasn‘t meant to be. He will surely suit clubs like Derby)

This season, it’s felt like we’ve been waiting since August to “kick in” and it’s never really happened. Even the 17 game unbeaten run, we didn’t really beat anyone of note.

It’s all a mastermind plan.

Frank goes to different clubs for managerial experience. We hire 5 stepping stones in 6 years.

Tuchel, Nagelsmann, Hassenhuttl, Benitez and Avram Grant.

Tuchel is sacked after complaining about not being backed in transfers, despite the board spending 400m.

Nagelsmann walks out after he complains about Rudiger hustling him out.

Hassenhuttl resigns with Southampton, said he missed the lovely Sunday roast near his old house.

Benitez is hounded out by the fans after claiming Liverpool fans were better than Chelsea fans.

Avram Grant did a grunt and is sacked after a string of poor performances.

In the 7th year, Super Frankie and Terry comes back! We win everything! With Mason Mount as captain!

No. Mourinho twice, Ancelotti, Di Matteo, Conte, they were all sacked the season after winning trophies. Tuchel will be the same if he wins a trophy, he will be sacked as soon as we go on a run of poor form. It's becoming harder and harder to get excited about the future of the club when you know the manager will be sacked and we have to start over all over again.

It's been the same since 2004 though Scott. We are all still here supporting and doing what we did back then. This is just modern day football and we epitomises it more than most.

Romans way of running us is one which brings success and trophies, it's not ideal because we don't get the chance to have a real bond with a manager because we all know its short term but we know the script by now.

It's far from ideal but if it's what keeps us at the top end and collecting trophies then I'll have to stomach it.

Frank, Jose, Carlo and Robbie will be forever loved at least in my mind for what they done for us and they will know that too.

Modern day football is a hollow sport but one I choose to keep coming back to because I love this club regardless.

Lots of good points. But I'm not sure Roman's approach does make us successful. I think his spending does but his approach to sacking the manager every 5 seconds probably undermines that and means we waste a huge amount of money. Have a look at Kepa and Jorginho. 120m to sit on the bench because the new manager didn't want them. For the money we spend we should arguably win more.

But we won more than united and (maybe?) city whilst spending less.

I am too lazy to check but pretty sure more than united on less nett spend?

What else was he supposed to do with a transfer ban in place? Clutching for straws 🙃

Gilmour disappeared from the starting XI suddenly, Tomori out on loan, Lamptey loaned out and doing amazingly there. Let‘s not exaggerate.

Gilmour was injured, no one truly knows what happened with Tomori,  lamptey requested to leave due to James being ahead of him. Anyone downplaying lampards efforts with our academy players is a moron.

It's not an exaggeration . It's a fact .

Billy disappeared because he was injured.

14 posts and calling Lampard useless in every single one of them. Most likely a troll, and probably an Arse.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good mystery. Having said that I would like to know where Kovacic disappeared to this season? Was he kidnapped by Rudiger and replaced by a useless clone?

I think you could be onto something here. The site seems to be in need of some pest control in recent days.

Looks like he was the pathetic little sh*t who's been banned a few times. Hilarious seeing how upset he gets each time.

That'll be news to Brighton fans about Lamptey being on loan !

United are a basket case and hardly a benchmark for anything.

We've won 3 trophies in 5 seasons. After 2 of those the manager was then discarded immediately. We've also yoyoed in and out of the top four and haven't looked like serious challengers for anything substantial in about 4 years.

It is immensely short sighted, and has left us onto our 4th manager in 5 years who will no doubt have ideas in mind for signings so we'll spend a little more and then thrown him out and start again in 18 months.

James playing over the captain, Mount starting every week.

With Tomori leaving on loan, we are down to 24 players in the first team squad, of which 3 are goalkeepers. Apart from losing a left back, you really can't trim it down any more than that. A couple of injuries and suspensions and we would be down to bare bones when you consider the fixture schedule, recovery times etc etc.

Thing is the max squad is 25 usually (did they change for Covid?) but you usually have 22 actual starters and fill it in with 3 youth players.

Our youth players are all starters by too big a squad I mean we have too many senior players or players that will expect to start
