And if we don’t come out a better team, does it matter? We gave it a go, and we go again, it is only football after all

so what is the reason behind giving Lampard more time than other proven manager? Simply because he is our club's legend?

Yeah this thread is gonna get ugly...I will bow out and say that I respect everyone's right to opinion on this matter, just respectfully disagree on the immediate need for trophies and being out of the CL being a disaster.

For fans this is okay. I am okay with it. If we have a long term plan, good. We just know this is not what Roman's Chelsea is. Maybe he changes it. He can. I just don't believe it before I see it.

The job is too big for him.  I mean, that cannot be argued.  Surely?   He is still a very inexperienced manager

But yes, we all wish he would do well with us.  And still hope he can.

People saying two years of no CL football is fine, yeah it may be fine for you but definitely not fine for the clubs bottom line so I don’t think that will wash with Roman.
One season is okay two absolutely not, again turning us into Arsenal losing the winning mentality that’s what got us so many great memories.

I am sure the board would want to avoid that happening. However as it stands we are still in this season's competition. While top 4 currently looks increasingly out of reach we are only half way through the season too.

I think it is less about his status as an ex-player and more about the board's ambitions to implement a strategy that incorporates players from the academy. Roman has been keen on that for a long time having invested a lot in the academy. Many big name managers would probably not agree to that.

f**king brilliant, and total sense spoken in amongst all the bollox spoken by others, I will ask the question, why the hell did all these JCL’s decide to support Chelsea, and now we haven’t won every game this season, it might be worth them supporting someone else

I don't really know a football fan in the world who supports their team and doesn't want them to do well? (Other than seemingly a few chelsea fans who would rather we lose with lampard so we can honour a contract / go back to the glory days of the 80s)

I want chelsea to win. If they don't win, I will talk about what needs to happen to make them win. I'm fairly certain Swindon Town fans have the same conversations. It's not unique to a top team

It's not the end of the world if we don't qualify for the champions league. But I would much rather we did! And the way we do that in my opinion, is by a change of manager.

Everyone opinion is valid whether you agree with it or not, whether you have been a supporter for 50 years or 10 years.

When the dust settles however only one opinion matters and that’s Roman, will he accept no CL for years, no trophy for years along with what we see now as average football just so we have a club legend as manager while still expecting to invest millions in players?

This was always going to get ugly because of who the manger is and probably will get more toxic for at least another year.

I still maintain Lampard is safe until season end.

Also listen to Maddison and Rodgers post match interview they say something along the lines of they knew we would be easy to play against and knew they would beat us, which is telling as it appears opposition now think we are easy to nullify and play against.

Sarri integrated the academy. RLC and CHO developed into first team players under his watch. lampard played Mount because he knew him and integrated Tammy because he had to. Reece James would have been in every managers team in the world.

It just happens to be that no one from the academy was good enough before Sarri. Not one academy player has been world class for another team.

Lampard isn't even that good at integrating the academy! Look at how many academy players have played this year? Billy is overlooked for Jorginho, Tomori has been binned off, no one else has had a look in who wasn't already part of the team he had to play last year. We played an incredibly strong team against Morecombe. Maybe we should revisit this view of him.

This time last year 29th January Utd lost 2-0 at home to Burnley.

fans attacked Woodwards house, death threats,   wanted OGS out.

now look, they were champions last week.!

Well that was because they weren't investing in the tean. Then they bought Bruno.

Perhaps If those fans had been happy with their lot they wouldn't be doing so well.

I wonder what Petr Cech is thinking and advising the board. He must be conflicted with Lamps being his mate. He will likely have some input I’m sure. With Petr being a data man, I’m sure even he can see things are not right.

I don't think there is anything there. Sad for Frankie for sure but life goes on.

Hopefully this is the case.

This is exactly what I expect they will let him see out the season hoping it gets better if it doesn’t they have someone in place ready to go

I like Hassenhuttl but the way he started life at Southampton and the 9-0 loss against Leicester he would've been out of the door fairly quickly at Chelsea.

He was afforded time by the board and he managed to change things around well, it could've gone one of 2 ways and all credit to him to for coming out strong. Considering how much criticism Lampard is getting who is one of our own I can only imagine how he would've been treated if something similar happened to him here.

I agree on your main point that the 9-0 wouldn’t have gone down well but the club knew from his previous experience that he could turn things around. All we can do is hope as Frank does not have either success or experience.

Roman and the board could easily have appointed an experienced manager, but they didn't they went with Frank.  If they're aren't willing to give him more time what the hell were they thinking in the first place.

The leagues congested at the moment, we are closer to the top than we've been in ages, I mean you can't believe the likes of Man Utd, Villa, and Leicester are going to continue this run of form till the end of the season.  They are bound to get dips in form and we will get back to winning ways, that's how football works.  It sounds like some of you think its already mathematical impossible for us to get top 4, we're still in the mix.
