This time last year 29th January Utd lost 2-0 at home to Burnley.

fans attacked Woodwards house, death threats,   wanted OGS out.

now look, they were champions last week.!

What about them? still play boring football, usually play on the counter attack. Lost at home to Spurs 6-1, 0-1 to Arsenal, Drew 0-0 to us, 0-0 with City, and drew 0-0 with Liverpool. What am i missing? everything is going for Utd at the moment and nothing is going for us, they get a last minute deflected goal Vs Wolves, deflected goal vs Burnley, a soft penalty Vs Villa when Villa were on top.

Not even prime Mourinho would do much better with this squad.

By the way why does nobody question Lampard regarding the situation with Alonso?

After recent performances from Chilwell maybe it's time to give him some rest.

Sorry, although I agree with your comment on Chilwell, he is poor at the moment and never looks to play forward quickly; I do think a manager with a tactical plan could get these players to challenge for the top 4.

He needs to just do a ton of 1 touch passing and pressing drills.  It seems our CB's are the only ones who touch the ball while in possession while not being on the sidelines.  Too predictable. Too slow.  Too sideways. Same with out pressing. It reminds me of people in practice doing enough to appear they are trying, but dialing it in still with no real intensity.  Night and day difference to watch our pressing versus some opponents like Leicester.

Not enough people running off the ball.  It's like they know where they are supposed to be on the pitch, and mainly just wait there.  There's no space on the pitch our attacking players should be aside from where there is space to receive the ball....ie, they shouldn't be standing still until a freaking whistle blows regardless if we have the ball or not.

One year we were city champions (not football) it was because, as our coach told us, "I think you're the most talented team/roster in the league.....but that's not why we are going to win.  We're going to win because we are going to be the team that's the best drilled, and hardest working just incase a team with a bit more talent pops up we will still win because we will have wanted it & prepared for it more."

And we ran and drilled our asses off......and it paid off.  I think we were the most talented team in the league, and that despite that it was the coaches' method and not our talent that won it all end of the day.

Too much standing around on or off the ball.  Not enough smart energy being spent in the press.  These aren't talent issues.  These are application issues.

Frank needs a to ring up SAF and ask to borrow the hairdryer.

Roman and the board could easily have appointed an experienced manager, but they didn't they went with Frank.  If they're aren't willing to give him more time what the hell were they thinking in the first place.

The leagues congested at the moment, we are closer to the top than we've been in ages, I mean you can't believe the likes of Man Utd, Villa, and Leicester are going to continue this run of form till the end of the season.  They are bound to get dips in form and we will get back to winning ways, that's how football works.  It sounds like some of you think its already mathematical impossible for us to get top 4, we're still in the mix.

Believe it or not, a lot of managers wouldnt have taken the job with the ban in place.

I think the post illustrated the fine margins between a manager being flavour of the month, and on the scrapheap. If I remember correctly United got a lucky last gasp penalty against Brighton that probably saved Ole's job. I agree they aren't suddenly as good as their results suggest and I suspect they will ultimately stumble again. Frank probably needs a run of luck to turn this around too. Looking at last night for example. No doubt we deserved to lose but lets say that we get luckier over that penalty decision and it doesn't get overruled. Could have been 1-1 and a different game. We got a break against Fulham but I think it may take a few more things to go our way and then suddenly heads may lift again. No guarantee that happens under Frank of course.

This is exactly what I expect they will let him see out the season hoping it gets better if it doesn’t they have someone in place ready to go

Would be extremely demotifying to see someone like Avram Grant taking over for the rest of the campaign.

I think FA Cup, Wolves and Burnley are games we can win and turn this around. But it needs drastic changes from Frank.

I do realise that this can never happen but it is a real shame that we cannot do with Frank what the clubs do with inexperienced young players and send them out on loan to they can learn and grow then return as better players.

I don't really know a football fan in the world who supports their team and doesn't want them to do well? (Other than seemingly a few chelsea fans who would rather we lose with lampard so we can honour a contract / go back to the glory days of the 80s)

I want chelsea to win. If they don't win, I will talk about what needs to happen to make them win. I'm fairly certain Swindon Town fans have the same conversations. It's not unique to a top team

It's not the end of the world if we don't qualify for the champions league. But I would much rather we did! And the way we do that in my opinion, is by a change of manager.

If I remember correctly  you were a fully paid up member of the Sarri cult a couple of years ago?  A manager who couldn’t be arsed to connect with the fans, and played the worse football in years at Chelsea, and then f**ked off, when Juve came calling, now if your a fan who just looks at football manager on the Xbox or plays fifa then your choice, but I go week in week out to Chelsea spending at £1,000’s a season, and personally a good day out and a manager and club and players I can connect with, and I wouldn’t dis us who were there in 80’s as those times were wonderful even though we won f**k all, and the fan base then was as loyal as f**k compared to what I’ve been reading today, ‘win or lose up the blues’

Exactly. Last season Frank was doing a job that very few established managers fancied. Perhaps if we had just finished 6th or 7th last season the expectations would have been a little more reasonable this season. I think the fact that he overachieved led to some unrealistic expectations for us to quickly click with the new signing this season.

I understand why the board offered Frank the job but they must have been hoping for steady upwards improvement throughout his tenure even if it had a few bumps along the way. However, this appears to be worse than a few bumps as Frank is looking lost on the side of the pitch and in team selection. For the last few weeks, there has been no discernible progressive style and even with two weeks of no mid-week matches to train for specific games, there has been sadly no improvement. He either needs more help or I have no doubt he will be replaced.

Top tier elite Managers probably wouldn't have but there are plenty of good experienced Managers who would've taken the job especially the one who beat us last night.

Was talking about managers who have no club at the moment.

If Lamps does leave and we are talking of ones at clubs he would be a good one, so would Brandan, he was tactically spot on yesterday.

If the day comes, give it to Ralf not Brendan.

Also listen to Maddison and Rodgers post match interview they say something along the lines of they knew we would be easy to play against and knew they would beat us, which is telling as it appears opposition now think we are easy to nullify and play against.

Which while being true is highly disrespectful, you dont do that to fellow professionals.

The old days? How about 5 years ago, remember when one of our players got fouled in the PSG game and literally all of our first 11 were surrounding the player to get him sent off. My memory is fuzzy on who it was at the time, but I remember the PSG fans complaining about it. And even though we got knocked out that game, that was still a proper Chelsea team that won things.

The title win of 2017, let alone 2005, seems like a lifetime ago after watching the mediocrity we’ve become

How about this one then,

on Filbertway  Leicester fans site...July 12th after Leicester lost 2-0 to Bournemouth, headline "... RODGERS OUT"

" Horror performance, clear relegation. candidates next season"

Tactics, team selection etc wrong. Interviews after game hard to understand....

now look, they are the current champions with a top manager !

Sorry but again the problem is that Rodgers had bags of experience and success to fall back on. Frank's bags are kind of empty.

Thing is we will happily play a young player like Reece James and when he makes mistakes like last night, we will say he will learn from it and we persevere to play him knowing all the experience he gains will help him become a better player.  How come a young inexperienced manager isn't afford the same luxury?  You cant become a top manager without going through some sh*t times, its how we come out of it that matters.  If the board thought it would be all rosey after giving the managers job to a manager with 1 year of experience then they need sacking first.

When we lost at home to Liverpool last season the fans stayed and applauded our team off the pitch.

when I looked at the players surprise and gratitude I felt the fans, players and the club had a special bond , together as one.

That's what matters to me,  I've seen enough rubbish but it's always " win or lose up the Blues"

Great post. I wouldn't underestimate the impact that a lack of fans has had on our team, and Frank for that matter who always enjoyed a great rapport with the fans. It was noticeable that probably our best performance of the season was Leeds at home when we had some fans back and they cheered the team throughout. Our fans have often lifted our players when they needed it most, especially away from home.

Yes I was a person who liked what Sarri was doing and was optimistic that we were going to play exciting football the next season. He f**ked off so that didn't happen. I don't think Lampard is getting us playing good football and I don't think it will be any better next year when we can both go to games again

I Don't give a sh*t about a manager connecting with the fans, I only care about the football on the pitch I watch when (shock horror) I also go to games.

At no point does anyone who wants lampard sacked say they want to stop following chelsea, win or lose I'll back chelsea but win or lose I won't back the manager. I'm certain that when you were going in the 80s (I'm too young to know supporting since the mid 90s), you hated some players, you hated some managers, you hated the board. You didn't blindly back chelsea and everyone associated. You blindly backed chelsea. That's what everyone here, lampard in or lampard out is doing.

They were plenty to do with him and on those days he got it right but they were matches and not seasons of success or even cups/titles.

And even if we win those games (highly doubt it) nothing will change. We still have no style or vision and top 4 will be a mystery.
