Mount is becoming everything we hoped RLC would be.

Mount's becoming everything i hoped Mount would be.

It was clear before he even stepped up to senior football (never mind our first team) that his game intelligence was light years above Ruben's. The latter has explosive moments in games which gives the impression he's (in the context of his whole performance) playing better than he actually is.

It’s a shame non-Chelsea people will never rate him, too much of a school boy, well spoken, well mannered, good upbringing. Football usually dislikes those types, hence why Lampard had his own issues with gaining respect he deserved in the community. The culture kind of celebrates those gritty Grealish types with a bit of northern edge to them or a council estate Foden ‘come good’ story, even though vulgar types like Maddison is out posing with Ferrari’s, Grealish is crashing them and married men like Foden is out banging prostitutes.

I wouldn't say others don't rate him, I think more and more neutrals and rival fans have taken notice. It will be in the Euros where he finally gets nationwide adoration and then we will be laughing because he's all ours!!

I've come close to blowing a gasket on here over the last 13 yrs, but you have to go some to get barred , unless you're an obvious WUM, free speech et al, as long as its not spiteful or deemed as bullying, the 'Fanboys' on their subjects can get a bit Moist, but its handbags usually😎........KTBFFH

So this season Mount has played the following positions: Right Wing, Left Wing, False 9, RCM, LCM, Double Pivot, Number 10, Right Forward & Left Forward. He has not looked out of place in any of those positions and considering he did this across 2 Managers at the age of 22 is even more impressive.

Has ha staked a claim for backup keeper yet? 😉

And yet the Havertz groupies whine on about "he's gash because he's not being played in his right position, that's the only thing that stops him being able to recognise a football or a team-mate"

It would be impossible to do it worse at No 10 than what we actually have there (bar Larry the cat), so I'm tempted of leaving Mason there for the next 3 1/2 years...

Gritty?  Grealish? The Fop with the ponytail who falls over if someone farts in the next postcode?  That Grealish?

Now I've heard it all ( but then again, probably not)

He’s northern and quite a ‘lad’ flashy cars, getting in the press, drink driving etc. Mount is an upper-middle class schoolboy, a PC gamer geek who was sheltered from day dot in the Chelsea system, Jack took the school of hard knocks in Brum and worked his way up through the football league. It’s just all about perceptions.

For about 70% of the match Grealish does this. He’s anything but gritty

I was talking about social class, you’ve misunderstand the entire thing as did the other poster before you.

Mason will suffer the same fate as Lampard with Gerrard in never getting the plaudits due to the football culture we have here. Gerrard was born on the bluebell estate in Merseyside, Lamps with a silver spoon in his mouth. More extreme example but who you are and how you came to be always seems to seep into everything, sheltered and ‘perceived’ teachers pet Mount has had it too easy for onlookers who want a hero, someone who’s not had it so easy.

Never thought I'd see him rested, but another great example of rotation by Tuchel.  The reason the rotation works is we now have a system, not a collection of players.  Mount offers so much.  Does Havertz offer a little more?!?

Bit of an aside, but a mate of mine (admittedly a famous bullsh*tter, but one who grew up in the same area as Grealish) claims to once have been drinking in Grealish's family's local.

Supposedly he has quite a stern dad/grandad who would always kick him out if he tried to come into the pub to get pissed as a young player.

I imagine he's tough enough .. apparently played Gaelic football from age 10-14 and you can't exactly be a pussy in that game ! For sure he's picked up a nasty habit for going to ground too easily in football though ...

Perhaps you have misunderstood the meaning of the word "gritty"

And as for "Lamps with a silver spoon in his mouth." I think you are just taking the piss, or don't understand what that phrase means either.  Lampard was born in f**king Romford, FFS.

And " onlookers who want a hero, " is bollocks.

"onlookers", or fans, as we call them, want good or great players, regardless of how societal norms or twitter twats perceive them.

Gaelic football at that age is just running around, with none of the fun, games and delicate interactions of the adult version

Yes I expect you are right ... probably works like rugby does for younger age groups these days. Tap tackles and so on ...
