Mason Mount

Featured Replies

After the first half I thought Mount was having an average game. He was the only player who really took it to the next level in the 2nd half. Everyone else dropped off, Callum helped the pace of the game but he wasn't performing too well, very wasteful. Mount on the other hand, was the only one who was trying and making a difference after we got the goal.

I can't believe how stagnant we got after we equalised, the effort just vanished completely. But Mount can hold his head up, he was really trying and making things happen.

The ONLY bright point if this team is Mason. He continues to improve his game  each week and his work rate and passion for club is excellent. Give him the armband.

Give him a couple of years when his decision making improves we will have a very good player on our hands. He did well tonight after the early blow of the card , will be missed second leg.

He's got Tuchels nudes now.

Southgates, Lampards, Tuchels, who's managers cock is he going to store on his harddrive next?

He's like those scientist's trying to stay one step ahead of virus mutations only he's working out our manager changes in advance to give him a head start collecting the required material.

Word is he's got a plane ticket to Leipzig ready for when lockdown is lifted.

The moment the ball went to Werner, I knew nothing will happen

CHO was open at the far post if he could have just beaten the first defender with his cross.

He will be missed in the second leg a lot but we have Pulisic, Ziyech, Havertz and even Kante to fill in that position.

See this is where Werner can improve, right then he needs to anticipate that we will win the ball and make a more centeral run. I get he got on the wing and made a good pass attempt that would have been a certain goal by Giroud if not blocked.

However, if he had a made a more centeral run he could have shot himself. We play down the wing too often, if we have pace lets use it to shoot 1v1 centeral not always down the wing to give them chances to get bodies back in the box.

I am not sure what do you mean by central run in this scenario. His run was perfect, outside to inside, mason mount pass weight was good, he need to beat his man.

Look at the positioning of Giroud, at the start of the move he's pulled the defenders out of place. There's a huge gap through the middle that's where we need runners.

Its no coincidence that we don't score regular counters (1v1 break aways) under Thomas. This move sums it up, we are too safe in attack. By time timo takes on his man to put in a pass to Giroud they already have numbers back because Giroud is not fast so its not hard to keep up with him in a race to the box.

Timo shouldn't need to beat his man if Mount is playing perfectly weighted passes, he should be running centeral and attacking the heart of their defense while it was unorganised.

I think it was more of a case of a poor first touch which pushed him wide, his first touch should've been to push the ball on the inside and run across the defender which couldve resulted in either a pen or allowed him into a position to either shoot or play a much simpler ball to Giroud or CHO.

We are going to massively miss Mount in the return leg, he brings a lot of energy, creativity and forward impetus to our attack, pretty much the only one that does from deep. Havertz will likely replace him in the team but he needs to really hit some form to get anywhere near he impact on the team Mount does.

It's the areas of the pitch he does it in too dkw. Only Kante on his game covers as much space and can inject that same tempo IMO.

I thought last season Mount struggled when turning and holding the ball in the oppositions half, but this season he has improved so much in that aspect. The ball is almost glued to his feet at times. This is what Havertz needs to work on. In the Bundesliga he looked comfortable on the ball, maybe it is just a matter of time (I'm hoping so) but this is desperately what Havertz has to do.
