Mason Mount

Absolutely insane for the club to be letting Mount go. Have they learnt nothing from last season at all?

If you don’t rate Mount, then you simply have zero knowledge of football. One of the brightest and most talented players in the country, who has come through the academy and they’re just going to let him leave to another big 6 team?

No doubt his replacement will be yet another overpriced player from abroad, with no Prem experience who will flop harder than Mudryk.

This club is a total mess.

Mount is ditching us, not the other way around. When are some going to get this into their head? He wanted to leave, we wanted to keep him. He's leaving us after a terrible season, for the club and himself. All I see is a player leaving us at our lowest, not a player that is "proper Chels"

You think hiring lampard was a good idea?

Hes the worst manager in the history of the premier league LOL

Lampard is not the worst manager in the history of the Premier League, what complete nonsense.

An FA Cup final, a top 4 finish (in a season everybody said we would finish mid table) saved Everton from relegation a few seasons back, almost promoted Derby to the Premier League. There are coaches that don't achieve anything like this in their career. Is he a very good coach? no, if anything, his move to the top probably came too soon, but he is nowhere near the worst I have ever seen.

If the reported money is accurate (£55M, up to £60M) I think we should take that.  As much as I'd like to see him stay at the club, his team is giving no impression they want to be part of the journey we are now on.  We can't get burned by players running down their contract - simply can't afford it.  Selling Mount, just like Kai (albeit 2 years) is a smart move.

3rd and final (apparently) bid now in according to Matt Law, 50m+5m in addons.

For a player in the last year of his contract and a player who does not want to stay, we would be a bit foolish to reject it. It's not as if any other clubs are in for him right now.

I'd push towards the club's suggested £75m now. Club has the leverage to wait to get what they want.

- Havertz, Kovacic, Ziyech, Mendy, Koulibaly, and Kante are now gone which has recouped a lot of funds + freed up a lot of wages. (FFP surely settled now)

- This is the same market where Declan Rice is going for 100m with 2 years remaining on his contract.

But isn't he going into the final year of his contract?

If we can get 50-60 million for a player on his final year I think that's good business. Especially from a player who's had very sketchy form for the past two years.

Its a good deal for how long his contract is but lets not rewrite history and pretend he's an average player.

Let's not get into this again 😄

If we don't take the £55m  what happens then? He obviously wants to leave. Whats the point keeping him, he won't be 100% committed and in a years time we get nothing. Am i missing something?

While some of the above sources are very rarely wrong in the details some others have said the total value of the deal, including add ons is 50mill, not add ons on top of 50mill.

In either case call Uniteds bluff and turn it down. Mason can either accept an offer from a club willing to pay our price of rot for a year of his career with the under 21s.

If we allow Mount and United to push us around, and add to that cave to Lukaku and Inter, nobody will ever take these owners or their directors seriously.

We lose money now but we gain reputation for not being the idiots that spent 62mill on Cucurella anymore.

If he had 2 to 3 years left on his contract how much do you think he's worth?

Declan Rice's stock has risen every season where Mount has stagnated. He's not going for more than Rice or Bellingham, 55 is a good deal when all things considered.

And United risk us re-signing him within that time after scrambling over 10m.

What are the chances of that though? It looks like he's clearly made his mind up to me, if a player doesn't want to be here, let him go. We were even saying this for Hazard who was an absolute magician, and Mount doesn't compare to Hazard. If Mount wants to go I say let him, I don't think they are bad offers at all from United.

I would say we are the ones with more to lose here, United just get to sign him in a years time for absolutely nothing.

The difference being that Real Madrid paid the asking price without trying to bargain and Hazard stayed one more year as the club asked him rather than forcing his way out. Hazard cared for this Club while Mount appears to be forcing his way out.

Sooner this saga ends the better, I don’t want this as a distraction for Pochettino and the players during pre-season and at the start of the season.

He wants to leave get the most we can and close the door on the way out. I get the feeling he’s over estimating his importance and may find life extremely difficult at United when he’s not performing which has been for a long while now. Just look at Sancho!

Get it done close that chapter and all parties move on.

I still don't see how we have the leverage here if he's to go for free in a years time. 50-55 million isn't bad at all for a player who has been out of favour and has one year left on his contract. The chances of us resigning him are slim, and it's left a sour taste in everyones mouth regardless.

Yes, that is true, but we are not in a weak position because, as Sconnie Blue (I think) has pointed out, with the players that are outgoing, we have probably mostly covered the FFP issue. Without the hurry to get within FFP, we can take our time and stand our ground until the end of the window, they'll come back for him if they really want him. We don't want to look weak, we need to stand our ground.

I can see both sides to this, difficult at best and unfortunate. But as said get back on board or go. Don't need any more unrest, as we are starting a new chapter/season.

What a nonsense argument, he almost got both everton and us relegated this season! Hes the worst chelsea manager I think ive seen tactically, and his win record shows it.

Im truly stunned! Not proper chels, not a legend and most certainly does NOT get it

Marcos Alonso's chelsea career >>> Mount's

I wanted to keep but have thought in the past….
Crap first touch.  Always thought he was a round peg in a square hole when playing in a front 3 (not skilful enough to be a winger).  Rather have a proper winger if we play 4-3-3.  Pressing is a strong point but would say his stats are not great (goals and assists for an attacking player).  Would have preferred him in the middle 3 of a 4-3-3.  Thought he was lucky to get his 2nd player of the year award as I thought Thiago Silva was nailed on for that (was shocked when at the Bridge for last game of that season that Mount was named player of the year).  When your Dad is your agent always trouble.  The same with Christensen but his Dad did us a favour, Christensen was absolute sh*te….

your time's up old man, football isnt just about hoofing the ball up and showing passion anymore. Its about technical ability and playing with a brain. your kind of "fan" is slowly fading away and I think you're struggling to come to terms with it
