Mason Mount

Featured Replies

Mount's been in a recent slump, but part of me wonders whether he's physically burnt out.

Played a lot of football non stop (both domestically and internationally) for the past 3 or 4 years.

I think that's definitely the problem, its easy to forget just how young he is when you look at the amount of games he's played the past 3/4 years. His game is based on energy and effort as much as skill, we relied on him for pressuring defenders so much. This will definitely effect him along with playing almost every single international game too.

I always think Mount is better when James is playing RWB as they have a good understanding.

Shame he is not dispatching his chances better.

He was a bit unlucky with his chance in the first half last night. He hit the ball well but there was a bit of spin on the shot and it curled the wrong way. I think a goal would do his confidence the world of good

Same here, not sure if you're on Twitter but its the popular choice at the moment to blame Mount for everything and pretend he's sh*t.

On SofaScore Mount ranked higher than Auba, Kai, Kovacic and Raheem last night, but its Mount that's the problem for some reason.

Higher than Raheem? What game were SofaScore watching?

I'm worried it will finish him early, if it hasn't already.

It happened to Oscar and he didn't have anything close to the intense schedule Mount has had since coming into this team, he's practically had little to no rest (lockdown doesn't count).

Oscar's demise was being a jack of all trades, master of none.

Maybe eventually in terms of being a starter but he had a massive decline in productivity from 2015 onwards and unlike most of the rest didn't recover under Conte.

Not mastering any ability will always lead to a player's demise though. Oscar didn't excel at anything. He was limited technically and was only utilised because of his work rate by Mourinho. When a team goes out of form, these players are the first to be picked out because they simply look average. Not a player you build a team around.

Mount for me is following a similar route.

Of course, you can make compilations about every player to make them look crap, but stuff like this happens every game. He needs to massively improve if he's going to be a player that starts for us.

What I’m seeing is a young player with a really good vision. Once he fine tunes his passing he’ll be a top player. I don’t see the likes of Havertz or Pulisic attempting these passes, probably because they don’t have the balls to take a risk.

You've just shared a BCT tweet, which shows you're either a child or lacking brain cells. This is why no one takes you serious.

BTW he is a player that starts for us, and has been for three years now if you hadn't noticed.

If that's your idea of really good vision, I'd go to a different optician. Taking risks is fine if the risks come off more than they don't but that isn't the case, every game is full of missed opportunities to play an important pass for Mount when he actually bothers to get involved in the game.

The age excuse is wearing thin, if he was making these mistakes when he was 19 that's one thing but he's 24 in a few months and has barely improved since he was integrated into the team with this season being his worst yet. As much as I want academy players to succeed here we can't carry on with the blind loyalty towards him, you mention Havertz and Pulisic and they're both rightly being criticised by most Chelsea fans, but Mount is being protected despite all of them being roughly the same age.

Mount has an average match rating of 6.73 in the Prem, compared to Jorginho's 6.47 this season. Focus your energy where it can be useful x

The fact that you've referred to 'BCT' as if it's supposed to mean something to me is hilarious.

Yep Mount has started for us for 3 seasons and he's still underperforming, Jorginho has been a starter for about 5 seasons and you think he's sh*te so what relevance that has I have no idea.

The funniest thing is at least half of those passes are good passes lmao

And this is point proven that you've got the football IQ of a pigeon.

Ok I'll live in this world where these subjective match ratings mean something, so that 0.26 average match rating difference is the difference between a player who you think is sh*t (Jorginho) and a player you think is great (Mount)?

And I've been very critical of Jorginho lately, his performances over the past 18 months have declined and he currently isn't playing at a standard good enough for a team like Chelsea. Just a shame you can't be critical of a player that you like, when you want a grown up conversion about football without resorting to acting like a 7 year old feel free to reply.

this video is laughable .. i wonder which side of the world this comes from. He is performing poorly in a team which is averaging hardly a goal a game and have had a manager sacked. all the haters (not targeted at you) but seem to be crawling out from everywhere.. Play him in behind a decent striker and lets see productivity. I am surprised so many CFC fans still to think he should not be a starter for us.

It should bring targeted at him, that video is abysmal and so one eyed a cyclops would be embarrassed by it. Any Chelsea "fan" using it to highlight how bad Mount is should be ashamed.

It is interesting that many people think Mount is not good enough but he kept being selected by Tuchel, Lamp or southgate.

It is understandable if there is very little competition for his position but for the last two years we play with 3 attackers and we have 500 attackers in the squad and it is the same case for England.

I love Mount but we could make the same case with Jorginho and he was one of the most important players for italy that won the Euros.

Personally I think Mount is just going through a rough patch like the entire team but he would still be the first name in the team for me and would choose him as my captain after Azpi retires.

I won't comment on Italy situation because I don't know.

But our midfield situation is completely different than our fw. We have 3 midfielder (2 are injured all the time) competing for 2 spot. Even Lampard played Jorgi again after dropping him.

grown up conversation about football lmao you're sharing fail comps of a player you reprobate.

People think Mount is bad because of the stupidly high standards he's set for himself in the previous two or three years. He's not performing badly, just not world class like he has been.

He created the same amount of chances from open play last season as a LWB from Brighton. Thats a big problem if he is supposed to be a main creative player in our team.

Lukaku and Werner made good runs last season and were always ignored for a safer pass. He has been very poor so far this season. Most of his G/A last season were vs 16th placed team and lower. Criticism of him is justified.
