Mason Mount

Featured Replies

I posted in the Palace match thread earlier, that Mount's drop in form is probably the most worrying aspect of the midfield's issues. He looks a mile off the pace, gives the ball away far too much, has lost the goal scoring threat and don't get me started on his corner taking !! From our best player of the last two Seasons to a lad that really shouldn't be getting a shirt in the starting XI.  What has gone wrong? He scored for England last week, but that is honestly the only plus point I think he can take from this Season so far.

We have a perfect replacement in Connor Gallagher to give Mount some well needed rest. The only problem would be that he would be upset about it as its world cup coming up and his place might be under threat if we were to drop him.

I see Gallagher taking up Havertz' role.

Zakaria or Ruben for Mount.

Is Zakaria still with the club? I've heard nothing of him.

I think so too that gallagher can replace either Havertz or Mount. If rumours are true than nkunku will compete with Havertz/mount too next season which probably means that Pulisic and Ziyech will be sold/loaned.

However, in my opinion Zakaria and Ruben are more suited to the positions that Jorginho and Kovacic play, especially Zakaria.

Mount could be rested for the next month and Southgate will still pick him. Look at Maguire!

And I fear it could be permanent.

He hasn't actually had a proper break since breaking in the team (lockdown doesn't count).

It was a truly astonishing and beautiful assist by Pulisic the other day, even Messi would have been proud of it.

Thank goodness for him, if it wasn’t for his 0 goals 1 assist we’ll be f*cked!

Facts don't give a f**k about your feelings, to be honest. And I just ran a fact through you. Never mentioned Pulisic.

I think he looked bright today, form is temporary class is permanent. He's burnout, but that's normal for a guy that's played non stop for 3 years. I'm convinced that average football fans are so obsessed with goals and assist stats nowadays that they completely miss the concept of football being a team sport.

Imagine if every player on the team was as obsessed with their own stats as certain fans my god this would become such a selfish game. Mount is one of the most selfless players you will find and he's homegrown. What a blessing it was to have 5 homegrown academy players all on at the same time today.

If you don't rate Mount that's fine football is a sport full of subjectivity, but if Messi the greatest player of all time says he likes a player and picks them out from a young age....something tells me this is a player to watch.

When asked about Pulisic after tonight's game, Thierry Henry noted that it is a little worrying for the player that he hasn't been trusted by 3 managers now (in my opinion a little early to make that assumption about Potter so far). But on the flip side it is clear that Potter is now the 3rd manager we have had who holds Mount in very high regard. That says a lot about his qualities and what he brings to the team.

Henry has got this wrong though. Lamps absolutely trusted Pulisic. He played him whenever the American was fit. Even gave him the number 10 shirt. Still worrying for Pulisic that Potter seems to trust him even less than Tuchel.

I used to think you were amusing in your staunch defence of Pulisic in the face of fact, now I just think youre a pathetic twat.

Was always a matter of time until Mount showed his class again.

His cross field pass to Reece James while surrounded was an absolute thing of beauty, genuinely one of the best passes I've seen in a long time. To even see that was ridiculous, to be able to make it under so much pressure was even more ridiculous.

Hard to say in this day and age and market what he's worth both in terms of wage and transfer fee. I'd say he's pretty essential to Chelsea FC's identity like James. Completely agree he deserves a similiar deal. The longer the better, I think ~£150k is reasonable considering age, performance, contract length and game time. With a stipulation that it could rise to say £170-175/180k in a couple seasons provided he reaches certain performance bonus etc.

Edit: I reckon what is taking so long is his camp will point out how guys like Werner was on close to £200k a week and Mason constantly outperformed him. If he was a new signing how much would we have to offer him to entice him to join. I'm confident the deal gets done, it could just take some time.

Yeap, to be a key player for multiple managers is a clear sign of quality. Mount has been a very important player for us even if he sometimes lacks consistency but that was bound to happen as he played so much and has been our engine for quite a while now.

Pretty sure we will land on 250. That what James is on.
