United are the worst I have ever seen them. They have spent a ton of money on sh*te, their young players are nothing to get excited about and their best players are overrated. They are closer to relegation than they are top 4 and have scored less goals than over half of the teams in the league, 4 of their goals came in one game.

Their youngsters may turn out to be good but they are being thrown at the deep end. Poor management from OGS. Look at the likes of Mount, James, Tomori, Abraham. They have gone out to lower leagues to experience a taste for first team football.  They have reaped the benefits out of that and performed like men in a time when we need them most due to transfer ban. United have got rid of Sanchez, Lukaku and only bought one outfield player in James. Look who they bring off the bench? Kids with no first team experience. They should look at our policy for an example. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw they sold Lukaku and did not buy a replacement. Rashford needs a break and look who they have to look at? 17 year old Greenwood who is a kid and Martial injured. Logic out the window. Look at the subs that came on today. Chong, Grenwood, Rojo. I will say no more...

All can be true... he can still be fantastic, good enough for Bayern, and not as good as some fans think!?

Exactly!

I want him and all our youth to make it big at Chelsea! I just don't rate him all that highly at the moment. For me, he hasn't had a single league performance even close to the levels already shown by Tammy, Mount or Timori. Until he does he'll continue to be an overhyped player.

The only sad thing about this is that we don't play Spuds next week...or Manu....bring on Ajax!!!

Spurs will pick up form again and be top four contenders.

Utd are just very, very ordinary and thought that even after beating us 4-0. I can't see them being in contention for top four, but football being the game that it is, it wouldn't surprise me to see them end Liverpool's run in their next game.

Pleased with us scoring 4 away at Southampton.

Liked some of our movement and work rate, both on and off the ball.

Thought the midfield was decent today, we're still learning as a team.

Tammy, again, was excellent,

On the bright side it's healing time for RLC and Rudiger, it shouldn't be too long now. We might have a fully fit squad in a few weeks fingers crossed.

Good shout,

Don't want to get carried away as I remember a similarly convincing away win at southampton around this time last year and we all know the dullfest and some humiliating record defeats that followed...but there is so much pace and quality in this side..we are one of the teams to watch right now, so entertaining. Defending is still a concern but we are doing much better than I thought we would at this early stage.

I hope Mount scores, he grew up supporting Portsmouth apparently so I’m expecting him to go out all guns blazing.

I should start joining in with that prediction game you guys have got going on :good2:

Were they giving him both barrells before the goal? Jeez he enjoyed it!

Quite happy with my own predictions: Multi with Chelsea to win, both teams to score and Abraham to score first. Very tidy return.

Also a nice win and a very important one too. So often when our rivals lost over the last couple of years we have found a way to lose too. Not today, we look so good going forward. Only issue is our defence again. Tomori had a couple of similar moment to Lille, hope it doesn't affect his confidence. We need Rudiger back and badly.

Cool off mate. You're acting like he made a crap performance, fact is, he was decent, faded towards the end yet he provided an assist and occupied Soton's right side until he was subbed. Yeah he missed some chances but we ended the game 4-1.

We can't expect an 18yr old on his 2nd senior season to produce worldies every game. That being said he didn't make a mistake as bad as Tomori did nor did he look as off pace as James did. Got an assist and even troubled Soton on a couple of occasions. What else do you want from an 18yr old coming back from a long term injury?

We played well, could have been 5-6, but after a bit of a crazy first half, we went for more control in the second half to kill off any chances of their fight back, and it's absolutely fine. Abrham is fast becoming a good striker, not just finishing, I thought his movement is getting better with each game. Mount, Timori and even Zouma played well, we had a bit of problems playing out, partly due to they have 4 in the front like to press us, and with youth we have to take into account the mistakes they will make to develop. Pullisc looked good in his little cameo, I know he's not Lampard's first choice, but he has racked up quite a few assists that people seem to ignore.

Let's hope the International break doesn't hurt us too much, with Spurs and United fast fading, we really should get back into the top 4 before Christmas.

Willian MOTM.

Loving the way our team is playing.

Willian MOTM agreed just ahead of Alonso and Jorginho for me. They were excellent too.

think Lampard has done a good job on team morale. Boys all look very motivated. However its going to get tougher when RLC and Rudigier fit. Kovacic is unlucky really not to get more minutes but Mount did score the goal and was good in the attacking third even if less visible in the back half of the field.

We definitely struggled bringing the ball out from the back for the first 70 minutes and that's because Mount doesn't drop as deep as Kovacic would to create more room. And we still have the 4th worst goals against column.

Also our defence is weak down the  left because of Alonso's lack of pace and CHO doesn't do defence yet.

So a good team might really punish us as we try to play out from the back but that's for another day.

Young guys mostly looked pretty tired towards the end of the game

willian for me. Incredible amount of effort, some great runs and for once some end product.

Kante is always MOTM, even when he's not playing. After that I thought Alonso had a good game. Cant remember if he contributed to their goal but it did come from his side. He's what we need at the moment for his physicality. I'd probably keep him ahead of Emerson when he gets back.

Cant believe I just said that.

Great result and great performance yesterday. Even moreso due to the fact i won £420.00 off the back of it ?

What did you bet on, score or winning margin or other?

I had two separate bets.

1 - Tammy first goal scorer and Chelsea to win 4-1

2 - Chelsea to win 4-1 and the order of the goals (So 0-1, 0-2, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4)

put £2.50 on both - the first one returned £167 and the second £252 ?

Obviously had a really strong feeling for 4-1 haha.

Inspired!

I had a small win on Newcastle yet couldn't read our match thought it was going to be close.

I was very encouraged by our ability to create scoring chances but it has to said that Southampton looked very shaky at the back and they invited trouble on a number of occasions. Our press put them under pressure but we will come across better defences.

Overall we played well and I think if anything we are overachieving at the moment. Frank and Jody seem to be doing a good job of mixing youth and experience and long may that continue. Frank must be overjoyed ATM. Its not easy breaking into premier league management but after a tricky start he is starting to get his team together.

I agree with the comments about Willian and Alonso but think we need to give CHO a break. The guy is 18 yrs old and coming back from a bad injury. Give a dog a bone. He hasn't had the opportunity to go out on loan to get first team experience and this works against him. He will have to do it the hard way and earning £120-180k a week doesn't make him a great player. He will have to get his experience at a high level and he got that on Sunday. He took a hard hit in the second half and I thought it was a good move to substitute him. Firstly it protected the injury but it also put the thought in head that he isn't automatically in the team. My only worry with him is his attitude. He's young and needs to learn that learning never stops. If he buckles down and works hard he could be a great player.

Tomori showed some weaknesses in his decision making on couple of occasions. His back pass was awful and I thought he could have done better on their goal. He did some good stuff but he does have a mistake in him at the moment. I maybe on my own here but I think Zouma is our best available centre half at the moment. He has a confidence about him and when Rudiger comes back I think they are our main two. Christensen is good but lacks a bit of strength so for now I think rotate him with Tomori.

The future looks bright based on this result.

Don't necessarily agree with this but i will say i thought Zouma was superb yesterday. Not just defensively, but his passing was brilliant too. He sprayed a couple of 50-60 yard diagonals and it looks like he has been working on that as his passing is usually suspect.

I think it was also great to see that we didn't look as vulnerable from set pieces as we have been looking over the season however that may have been down to us being a more physical team than Southampton. At times we did seem to have a mix of Zonal and man for man marking which I think is a lot better than having a purely zonal system.

On a separate note as someone who appreciates the talent that Southampton has provided to the global footballing community it is sad to see how poor Southampton appear, they are easily the worst side we've played this season and unless we see some dramatic changes they could be headed down to the championship, this is not purely based upon the game on the weekend but in general they have been well below par especially when they lost to a 10 man spurs team last weekend.
