Keep the faith, weren’t Liverpool 8 points clear last February.

No - at the start of the New Year maybe, but even then I think Man City had a game in hand.

Losing from here will be even more of a choke than that was.

As for Chelsea, a big win. Maybe we didn't perform quite as well as the scorecard indicated, but who cares? It's better than the alternative.

Pleased that our academy products played such a big part in this one.

I don't think they are in trouble, maybe the hunger and consistency just isn't at the same level as it has been in the last two seasons. I think they are desperate for the Champions League now, that is their main goal this season.

I think they might be in relative terms (relative to their money, recent success and what’s expected of them). q is how long does Pep want to stay there. I don’t think it will ever have the same appeal to foreign managers that some of the other clubs have,  no matter how much money they throw at it, and Pep seems like someone who tends to get itchy feet

Although we scored the majority of goals and attacked more in the 1st half I was much happier with the 2nd as we showed we can control games and see out a lead. 2 of our more maligned players in Willian and Alonso were our best players today, along with Tammy who battered the saints defence in a very Drogba like display.

I thought people were really harsh on CHO, he's only 18 and I thought he had a good game, got the assist, a bit sloppy at times though but he caused a lot of problems.

Same. I just think some people have unrealistic expectations for him because there has been so much talk about him. He had a solid game, nothing spectacular, but it was far from a poor performance. I thought he had a few bright moments, he held the ball up well, he set up the first goal with a perfect ball over the top for Abraham, had a good chance to score. If he was playing like that every week, then we would probably ask for a bit more, but it's first start at this level since recovering from a 5 month injury.

Overall, I'm more than happy with his performances since his return. 1 goal, 3 assists, creating chances, getting chances for himself, and getting more match fit with every game. How can people not be happy with his return?

Dont really care about Liverpool winning the league, they won the champions league last season and it hasnt been that bad, the media have always been bias around Pool and ManU so its not like we are not used to the Liverpool sucking up (they are a pretty good team as well). But this Chelsea has been absolutely so fun to watch and it seems everything surrounding the club lately has been positive so i couldnt be bother  about Pool winning the PL.

Really pleased with our ascademy products again but i feel i need to tip my hat to those that i have been particulary critical of this season.

Willian, really good performance. Probably the best i have seen from him for many a season.

Alonso, really solid performance. Didn't get bested at any stage, Didn't deliver a huge amount but solidly defended. Dave, same. Not sparkling going forwards but defending solidly with both fullbacks providing the foundation for the young attackers to perform.

Jorginho the same. Again without doing anything stunning, it was a competent, professional performance and pretty much always looked in control.

With four senior players al giving 8/10 perfromances provided the confidence for the rest of the youngsters to perform.

That's the level of leadership that we need.

....and despite the natural instinct to temper this with some negative comments, i'm leaving it there. Thanks for the entertainment today Chels!!

People expect he's the complete version of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pulisic did more in 5 mins than CHO did during his whole time on the pitch.

Even against an abysmal Southampton, Callum failed to step up and show he deserves a place in the starting lineup. As Frank has said, the young players have earned their right to be the team, but Callum hasn't. For the time being, CHO needs to be a bench player for league games.

Anyway, not the greatest quality game, but you have to be happy with a 4-1 win away from home.

In a nice position going into the break.

WOW. What a win and an emphatic one. Willian MOTM by far for me. Brilliant defensive work, constantly chasing back and regaining possession and also setting up Mount superbly for our 2nd. Should of had another assist if CHO scored too. That was a brilliant solo run. So many positives to take out. Another game where an academy player sets up another academy player (this time CHO for Abraham). Mount scoring. And we are in 2 points of City. If someone said we would be in this position after the 2nd game of the season, I would have laughed my head off. We got a nice set of fixtures coming ahead too. Good to go into the international break with a win for a change. Lamps has won me over already, must say :bluescalf:

Whenever he plays, he either gets a goal or assist.

Play nicely today!. We could be Spuds fans.

No complaints here about anyone from a 4-1

Winning the Europa really helped with tolerating the Liverpool love-in. Obviously it pales in comparison to the but it helped majority.

It's because some Chelsea fans have massively over hyped him saying we have a future world star on our hands. So far, he's done absolutely zilch in league games to deserve any level of hype.

Let's stop hyping him and saying he must start league games. Start him in Cup games and bring him on as a sub in league games. If he starts looking good as a sub he:ll then deserve a start.

This is his first league start this season... He has barely played and he he's played well.

I can understand the hype, he's an extremely talented player. I just think people are being too harsh, your post takes the biscuit though.

He's just back from injury, has played 130 minutes and have one goal and three assists to his name already.

If that isn't good enough then what is?

No he didn't. Pulisic set up goal, Hudson-Odoi also set up a goal. I'm happy with both of their contributions.

Hudson-Odoi is getting a lot of unfair stick. People seem to be criticising him unless he is anything but brilliant.
