I can see the value in the Ziyech fee as he has proven himself at the highest level. I'm not knocking Havertz but the eye watering fee scares me on someone so young. Its a risk and Roman must know that. I remember Joe Cole saying how good Hazard was before he signed and I felt really confident about the £32m fee. I've seen quite a lot of clips of Havertz and he has lot of different skills and is initiative. He is a little gangly and his movement sometimes reminds of, wait for it, Tore Andre Flo, who was also pretty decent. £90m? Lets see how he faces up to crunching tackles from the likes of VVD and Maguire.

I just can't see how Ziyech has proven himself in Ajax and Kai hasn't in Leverkuzen. Both of these clubs are not grands. At least Kai has played against more difficult competition. One miracle campaign in CL is not a proof of anything. They didn't even reach the finals.

so this is still the big missing piece. I started negative about this but now I'll be super disappointed if it doesn't happen. Havertz and a goalie may add up to Premiership and if you can win that the champions league is a possibility.

Same people who told us Chilwell is done at 50mill and Silva us signed up have told us this deal is agreed the fine details are just being done. So hopefully soon.

Kai will be amazing but he's still just 21 so he needs to be protected by Lampard, by the rest of the squad and also by the fans. Kai is like our Zidane from Juventus to Real Madrid, or our Joao Felix.

These are all fair comments on Havertz. If you look it as an investment you realize it is not a risky buy. If he fails at Chelsea and he is let's say 24yrs old we can recoup the whole transfersum back from any club in for him. His path to this point is so good a couple of slow seasons in England won't change a thing. He is just that good.

It's probable that BL are wanting to announce his replacement or give their fans other goods ahead of his exit...much in the same way that Leicester announced new deals for Vardy and Maddison before the Chillwell deal was made public...

Last I saw there was talk that BL want to secure a replacement before letting him go, as of course the price will shoot up once they have the Havertz money burning a hole in their pocket! Although given that signing any replacement guarantees they'll be selling and getting the money anyway makes it feel a bit pointless, but it kinda makes sense. Either way, the bigger deals do tend to have finer details to work out and various things to align etc. first so as long as all the rumours/news are still positive I think it's just a matter of time.

I hope so. I think they are still handwringing over minor details but who knows.

I reckon this deal will get done, but hell Leverkusen is dragging it out as long as they could. They won't get this much money in 6-12 months time, and they can't have their best player sulking on the bench. Unless their problem is with Mariana and Chelsea, which I highly doubt it.

This is more of an issue with Bayer now needing to replace Havertz and the clubs they are dealing with are playing hardball with them.
