Kai Havertz

Featured Replies

Madrid were somewhat interested in him, would be great if he turned up and showed them what they missed out on.

As much as we're all clamoring for an out striker were Havertz to play like this regularly (every 1-2 games) we wouldn't even have to consider a £100m transfer for another striker.

Tbh imo if we do win the champions league I don't think we should unless its Haaland. I don't thnk many would be an upgrade on what we have, keep Tammy sign a 3rd striker that is cost effective and see what Tammy and Kai could do. That is off were we to win big ears.

So will his 2 goals earn him a start against Real and if so in place of who?

Timo and Mason seem undroppable and Pulisic scored our goal ok the first leg and had a good game there.

Difficult call.

The most droppable is timo but he is suited against real plus he is is droppable so far.

Timo is actually undroppable IMO

Nah timo is droppable but against real he should play. I will play him over puli, but it is difficult to drop puli when he scored against real in first lg.

Shame about that goal that was offside, makes it look ridiculously easy, the complete diametric to Werners struggles, he looks like it’s just 5 aside with his mates.

With a proper pre-season, he’s going to be awesome..

For me he is the only one upfront that offers us genuine pace that keeps defenders on their toes. Everyone else wants it to feet. You look at the teams above us, one thing they all have in abundance is pace upfront. That is why we are slow in transition, and score so little.

Not really puli more than happy to run behind, tammy is more than happy to run behind. Is werner the best at this, yes.

Team above us:

Leicester with vardy, yes.

United:Cavani doesn't run behind all the time, he drop, link do everything.

City : They don't even play any striker.

Transition isn't about getting behind. It is about getting the ball forward asap. You want better transition you need either passer from midfield who can do long ball or player who are expert at dribbling at distance. We used to have hazard and Willian who are damn good at this. Now kante and kova are our two best (maybe cho) but they usually pickup the ball too deep to do it constantly and they are not as good as those two.

Just watch how often willian and hazard play critical role in this highlight.

Love how direct he is. Needs to run right through four Fulham defenders but sees the gap and takes it.

Such a relief he's turned it around. There is top competition for the spots up top but I think he's earned a spot in our best XI as it stands.

Kai showed his class again yesterday, and hopefully he is hitting a bit of form just when we need someone to get us over the line. Silky player.

Agree with @LongtimerLurker in that if this bunch of players win us the champions league, then we should not be looking to spend big on a striker, UNLESS that striker is Haaland. Timo with another season under his belt, Kai playing more advanced and with a pre-season, Tammy as a 3rd choice, Bats/Anjorin as a 4th choice would be ok with me. At least would prefer that than shelling out £100m on Lukaku!

Against Real, I personally think that Kai should not be starting, and would instead keep the 3 of Mount, Puli and Timo, with Ziyech and Kai to come on to turn the screw later in the game.

Unlike Timo.

Its not like Kai didnt miss 3 chances against Crystal palace after scoring or miss twice against Leeds. Give them both time and they will come good. Productivity wise Werner has been more influential with his goals and assists plus his effortless running which opens up space for the others.

That was a good assist from Timo as well, Fulham didn't defend at all they probably expected him to start running with it as he usually does but he just casually solved the game with that through ball

He’d be great if he could play against the like of Barnsley, Palace and Fulham every week

Don't forget Everton as well. He looked decent against Liverpool under Lamps as well in false 9 before the red card we looked well in the game.

Tino would be more of a backup to Mount and Zyiech than to Werner and Havertz.

Far as bats goes I believe Armando Broja would be a much better 3rd option (given I expect Tammy to leave).

So I've just had a look at our previous fixtures and Kai has started all our knockout games that are home. Following on from this trend I think he has a decent shout at starting. TT has hinted at potentially playing a false 9.

If we look at Pep's blueprint for making the UCL final he has played false 9 all the way through. Dominating possession and having ghost strikers from all over the pitch. As a football fan you can't help but enjoy it. Its like he has evolved the false 9 to an even greater level.

When we play Havertz there we play a more similar version to Klopp's at Liverpool with Firmino or Barca with Messi. I think it would allow ghost runs from Pulisic and Timo in behind. The only issue would be what about Mount. Considering he play two 90 min games and Jorgeeh and Kante for the most part were rested Kai could potentially line up with Timo and Pulisic.
