Kai Havertz

Now confirmed the package to bring Kai Havertz to Real Madrid will be much cheaper. Talks about a total deal of around €50-60m + bonus payments as Chelsea has to sell players. (via @Plettigoal / @SkySportDE)

Imagine that overspending then the footballing world now knows you in a desperate situation and now have to sell as a loss on all the players who are leaving. What a bunch of idiots Ted Lasso and his gang are!!!

Talks are now underway between the Real Madrid hierarchy and representatives of Kai Havertz. He has been thinking about saying goodbye to London for a very long time and because of the constant unrest at Chelsea. A move to Real Madrid excites him very much. (via @SPORT1)

I think that Havertz will do well at Real Madrid, mostly because the slower pace of the defending at La Liga. He's got the quality, he is just not the type of player that will flourish under the high intensity PL, and he won't be their main striker at Madrid as they are looking for a substitute for Benzema.

or alternatively, we are getting 45m for a 45m player that Marina paid 72m for ... 🙂

Well Marina was not always the best at getting us cheaper signings, just squeezing every penny out of sales lol.

Another day another potential Chelsea player leaving the club!

Looks like Kai Havertz could be leaving us to go to Real Madrid due to Karim Benzema leaving Los Blancos for a club in Saudi Arabia. I don’t really know what to make of this as Havertz will always be appreciated as big part of our history due to scoring the winning goal in the champions league final of 2021. He had a very disappointing season just gone but who didn’t for us really. Going to Real Madrid would be a great move for him personally but I can’t see him working out as a number 9 over there. He didn’t really suit it for Chelsea. I think he’s better off as a forward playing off the striker than actually leading the line. If he does make the move I hope it’ll work out for him. He’s a very talented player and if Ancelotti can find a system that suits him then he can flourish in Madrid colours.

Chelsea are reportedly already looking for a striker this summer so I don’t think Havertz leaving will be a big problem for us. With Christopher Nkunku’s arrival imminent it means we already have a like for like replacement in terms of a forward who can play off the striker.

It’s gonna be fascinating to see what team we have going into the new season. Hopefully Pochettino can find the right formula and get us competing with the elite again.

Madrid are rumoured to be after Kane to replace Benzema so not sure they will also go for Havertz.

They aren't mutually exclusive. Real Madrid need a goal scorer (Kane) and they need a versatile forward (Havertz).

Really is funny seeing Madrid fans on the social media space make comps on Havertz and only show his performances from Bayer 😭

I agree they could go for both yet if FFP comes into play then surely Kane is the priority.

To the point where clubs walked away and we end up giving dross like Bakayoko and Batshuayi extensions.

Lol yeah those two were unfortunate...

He was very important for Tuchel due to his work rate and pressing, so I'm not sure I agree about that. I wouldn't put much thought into what happened after Tuchel left as everyone pretty much gave up.

Havertz work rate and pressing was never that impressive under Tuchel though. The players around him worked and pressed a lot better than he ever did.

He’ll do well at Madrid next season but he’s unlikely to play the season after with Mbappe going there by all accounts.

£50 mill or anything north of that is great business imo.

Like Mount, I don’t see where he plays next season for us so get all we can for both.

I doubt they will get more game time at Madrid and Man U respectfully

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the price we would likely ask is €60m/£52m, however its important to note that this is the base fee and there will be add ons. With add ons the deal could include an additional €10-20m maybe potentially more.

With 2 years left on his contract and some of his closest friends gone, it appears this will be the end of the Kai Havertz ~ Chelsea project. We didn't see the very best of him and he will likely go on to be the generational talent we were told he would be.

Shades of Salah and KDB perhaps, people will say he got more time which he did and he won us a UCL and CWC. The difference here being we will get a good price if we do sell whereas for the two aforementioned players we got below value based on their potential and we still sold for profit.

Bundesliga is more hectic than PL.

I don't see any shades of Salah or KDB at all. If they got as much game time, we would never have sold them.

I dont have a problem with Havertz leaving on a good price, not going to play against him anytime soon given where we are next season. The bigger issue is with so many players leaving, it's basically another reboot, and we seems to have a reboot just about every 1-2 seasons. It's really a difficult task for Pochettino, I'm sure he will do better than Lampard and Potter, but realistically can't expect too much

I would think very carefully about selling Kai, say what you want about the lad in terms of consistency but he does love the club. Scored one of the most important goals in the history of the club and is still at the age where he can kick on and really cement himself as a top class footballer.

Kai actually looks like a Pochettino type of player, all he needs is regular work on his finishing because he has all the other attributes in his locker to play AM. Maybe Pochettino could have reinvented him as something else idk but I could have envisioned a scenario where Nkunku, Kai, Sterling and a world class number 9 formed a strong attacking front 4 in a 4231.

Such as what though? Surprisingly weak for such a big frame, lackadaisical attitude and work rate, not particularly creative in any metric, average first touch, not quick and one footed.

The idea of Havertz is much more appealing than the reality.
