Kai Havertz

Surprising amount of people here saying we'll regret selling him. He's been sh*te for 90% of his time here and he's been here for 3 years, we can't just hope he suddenly gets better, he might end up being great at Madrid but he will never be great for us so keeping hold of him would be pointless

He hasn't been sh*t for 90% of the time. Not one striker has been able to score many goals in this team. If he was sh*t for 90% of the time how come Madrid are so interested in him after scouting him extensively and playing 6 times against him?

your profile picture is Mudryk, you think he is better than Havertz?

The 90% is an exaggeration but I've only seen him have two good patches of form where I can say he's a top player. The first 4 months of Tuchels career, and that stint he had when the sanctions were looming and we started picking up points to get top 4.

Besides that I can't really think of anything? This season he's had 1 good game for every 10 bad, was pretty rubbish under Lampard both times also. I just don't see it to be honest, he lacks consistency and his forward play is truly embarrassing at times. He's usually one of the worst for ruining counter attacks.

Another day another potential Chelsea player leaving the club!

Looks like Kai Havertz could be leaving us to go to Real Madrid due to Karim Benzema leaving Los Blancos for a club in Saudi Arabia. I don’t really know what to make of this as Havertz will always be appreciated as big part of our history due to scoring the winning goal in the champions league final of 2021. He had a very disappointing season just gone but who didn’t for us really. Going to Real Madrid would be a great move for him personally but I can’t see him working out as a number 9 over there. He didn’t really suit it for Chelsea. I think he’s better off as a forward playing off the striker than actually leading the line. If he does make the move I hope it’ll work out for him. He’s a very talented player and if Ancelotti can find a system that suits him then he can flourish in Madrid colours.

Chelsea are reportedly already looking for a striker this summer so I don’t think Havertz leaving will be a big problem for us. With Christopher Nkunku’s arrival imminent it means we already have a like for like replacement in terms of a forward who can play off the striker.

It’s gonna be fascinating to see what team we have going into the new season. Hopefully Pochettino can find the right formula and get us competing with the elite again.

“I’ve been told Kai Havertz price is £43-51m plus bonus payments” (@Plettigoal @SkySportDE) #CFC

If that’s true, it’s not the value we were expecting i think. I suppose £45m isn’t too bad.

If true another black mark on the negotiating skills of Winstanley and Stewart.

Not an unsurpring price though, we don't have Marina anymore to get us top sale prices.

I have no idea why they're interested in him because he's been awful for ages. It isn't just about goals though is it, it's his overall performance. I'm not gonna slag him off too much but I don't think k anybody would say he's lived up to the expectations we had.

As for Mudryk I don't know, he's only been with us a few months and Havertz has been here 3 years. Nobody can say we haven't given Havertz a fair chance.

you will see soon enough why they are so interested in him

it's obvious that he's a very good player who is far from playing at the levels he can reach, and that's Chelsea's fault

not one player in recent memory has lived up to expectations

only Thiago Silva

but oh well he will probably win multiple CL's with Madrid

Apparently he’s scored 32 goals these past 3 seasons more than any other player.  Hasn’t really thrived and fulfilled his promise at Chelsea , 24 now stick or twist. More chance of trophies realistically now with Los Blancos than Chelsea, pay ain’t bad either.

It's either a long contract extension or he's leaving, I tend to believe he's leaving. Very few players will turn Madrid down. Should we let Havertz go, surely there are money left to retain Mount. Regardless how poor we have been this season, it's always a huge risk to offload half of the regular starters, and expect new players to fit in straight away.

If this interest is real then Kai should do all he can to make this happen.

How quickly we recover from all we are going through is an unknown, but Real Madrid are Real Madrid. Grab the opportunity with both hands lad, if it is real.

I don't even really think it's a pace problem with Havertz, it's an effort problem.

I am not even sure it is effort problem.

I really wish we can see Kai behind a st for extended period of time.

or alternatively, we are getting 45m for a 45m player that Marina paid 72m for ... 🙂

The only thing I would say, is with him and RLC leaving, and us probably playing a back 4, I'm a bit nervous about our height next year for set pieces.

Fingers crossed that Broja (191cm), Chukwuemeka (187cm), Casadei (186cm) can all kick on next season, as they will be useful in that regard.

I think this is going to be a very bad decision for Havertz. Real Madrid is a very hard club to play at because their fans are probably the least forgiving in the world and Havertz playstyle just makes it very easy to criticize him. I also don`t think he is even close to being good enough to play for Real Madrid. If we can get 40+m GBP for him I think we did very well.

The fact Havertz might go on to do well at Madrid has nothing to with him being at Chelsea, and is not a reason we will regret selling him. He hasnt played well for us, and the likelihood is he will continue being poor, so why would him dont well at Madrid mean we regret selling him?

It was bloody stupid to let Werner go... and then they sacked Tuchel... how many other Germans have we got?

Think Havertz is the last one on our books. We also lost Rudiger to Madrid on a free transfer from summer last year…………

Well said.. and to add to that, he is effectively a placeholder till they can sign their main targets Mbappe/Halaand.

He was very important for Tuchel due to his work rate and pressing, so I'm not sure I agree about that. I wouldn't put much thought into what happened after Tuchel left as everyone pretty much gave up.

means we spent 10 million a year on the bag of onions... if we can get 40 million for someone better suited to a dole queue than a football pitch id say we're robbing them...
