Considering his numbers so far indicates that he's a 1 in 3 sort of striker is already on the cusp of world class.

The only people who can better that ratio is Messi, C. Ronaldo and possibly Lewandowski on a good day.

Strikers miss chances, that's a given. The important thing is that they keep going and keep creating more 1 on 1's and attempt shots after shots.

Exactly this, strikers miss, all of them do. Wasn't Salah's strike rate something sh*t like 1 in 4 last season, he misses a huge amount.

The most important thing, we get 3 points. You can miss as much as you want when we get 3 points.

Agreed! That's the most important stat!

I agree. I believe he will score more once played central too. He’s the sort who will score one and miss 4 one week, then finish 3/3 the following week.

He cannot be dropped in big games though. His workrate and press is undervalued. He almost makes others look lazy due to the high intensity press all game. He’s the sort of player who will have loads of muscinjuries when he hits his 30s. Defenders panic near him and it’s refreshing to see this happening to opposition as opposed to Christensen/Rudiger.

Hopefully he get the much needed rest mid week, he was below par in the last few games, probably fatigue kicked and playing every game on the left really pull him off of his usual efficiency in front of the goal.

Werner playing wide makes him half the player. He should play in the middle and Pulisic should come back into the starting lineup. We are yet to fully experience the Pulisic-Werner-Ziyech attack.

I agree. . . I don't understand why they don't play Hudson-Adoi out on the wing when Pulisic is hurt and put Werner back in the middle.

Werner on the left wing much like Mason Mount was before is pretty out of position on the left wing.

I want to see Werner back in the middle, I think he'll surprise some people there.

For me he's only playing on the left side due to Pulisic being injured, I just don't think Werner plays at his best there. Well... I hope he doesn't, for his sake.

The Southampton game at home, those 2 goals he scored is what Werner is all about playing centre forward. I have no worries about him what so ever, play him centre forward he will score plenty.

Aguero is the same height as him, and he's one of the greatest strikers the Premier League has had. He scored a good header (which was ruled offside) in the Renns game, I don't think height is going to be that much of a decisive factor as some people think it is.

He plays best at Center forward but he's also got a lot of competition there too.  I mean you have him, Tammy, and Giroud.  Giroud has been sort of treated as the 3rd option at center forward and just scored 4 times in the Champion's League.

The thing about the left wing is that there really isn't a ton of quality depth there.  Which is why Lampard has experimented with Mount there and Werner there.  I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't experiment with Havertz there, especially with Pulisic being a guy who at this point even when fit you want to manage his minutes.

I got to disagree there. I think CHO plays at his best on that side, and Pulisic when in form is unplayable. But I can still see why Lampard persisted with Werner there to make those outside runs.

Completely agree. His game is all about movement and pace.

Another game where he could be with 2-3 goals.

I really like his speed and dribbling forward, he also took well his assist to Pulisic. He's hard worker and he deserves to play, but he also deserves critics on his finishing lately.

If it was Abraham, then the reaction on him was much worse.

He’s a born winger. In ‘classical’ terms, a number 11 with all the right attributes (primarily pace), not a number 9. Am surprised there’s even any debate about this.

It's due to the fact that he played as a centre forward most of the time in a different formation where he loved to move on that left wing but he was still a striker and not a winger. He was taking a lot of shots as well, scoring a lot but not being the most clinical at the same time.

He did have a good game in fairness but I can't let the misses slip.

I really expected him to be more clinical. I mean they are Torres and Morata level misses, that's how scary it is. The only difference is, he isn't dropping his head and sulking for 90 minutes because of it. That's a blessing at least, but still, it's concerning to see.

Fair enough. To an old timer like me he looks like the classic speedy winger in the mould of an Overmars or Kanchelskis.

I don’t know Slojo. He may not be the most clinical finisher, but I think his pace is a huge asset and that the rest of his game  is certainly good enough to keep him in the starting 11. I’m sure his finishing will improve.

I'm hoping so, but I thought we signed him to fix this clear deffeciency we had last season. Last season we had the 2nd best chances created and possession, even above the title winners. It sounds like I'm being a moaning bastard because we are winning games but I don't want to jump on this Werner bandwagon as soon as results don't go our way. I would rather say flat out now that we have an issue with Werner's finishing while things are still going well.

He's still a great attacking threat however, I'm getting strong Morata vibes on those sitters.

I think a “glass half full” way of looking at it is (very crudely) if with his pace he can create twice as many chances for himself, then he only needs to score 50% of those chances to break even with a more clinical striker without the pace. Morata had neither the clinical finishing nor the pace. I know this is simplistic but you get my drift?
