July 15, 20206 yr Same tactics as Spurs away; Kepa Zouma - Rudiger - Azpi James - Kante - Kovacic - Alonso Mount - Tammy - Willian
July 15, 20206 yr Do a Jose. Man-mark Fernandes out of the game, congest the space. Rashford is not smart enough to find pockets of space, don't let Martial and Greenwood find any space. Frustrate Pogba enough that he starts complaining and throws tantrums. Smash them on the counter with Giroud bullying Lindelof.
July 15, 20206 yr We will be the underdogs and that has suited us in the past but recently they have been just beating us so it's important for some of our players not to enter the game being all scared or nervous... It's almost 99% granted that ManU will play their usual 4-2-3-1. I'm not sure if Kante is back but I hope that we avoid playing the 4-3-3, our midfield can be easily broken regardless who's playing and if we want to save ourselves our tactic must protect the back-line for most of the game. One thing that they have as a huge advantage over us is that none of their midfielders is shy to shoot from distance, in fact I believe that they will be instructed to test Kepa as much as possible and they have several players that are capable of shooting from distance. I would like to see us play 4-2-3-1 with Mount in front of RLC and Kovacic. Pulisic and Willian are clear starters so the only question for me would be if Giroud starts or Tammy...I would once again start Giroud because even if he isn't as sharp he is getting into good positions, something that Tammy has been missing ever since the break; Kepa James Rudiger Zouma Azpilicueta RLC Kovacic Willian Mount Pulisic Giroud RLC has been decent but he's not daring to go into the tight areas in the final third yet, so IMO he would benefit the most from playing deeper this game and distributing the ball and since he's tall he can win areal duels and help Kovacic to get into a good space where he would in turn carry the ball a bit as he does it the best in our squad. Mount is there in front that can help both of them and also if he has a good game there will be space for Pulisic and Willian to try and create something. Now there is this argument that Barkley should be starting since he has been playing really well in the FA Cup so far, but I would be happy with this lineup. Edited July 15, 20206 yr by Gol15

July 15, 20206 yr Hope we can handle both targets. People used to mock Arsenal for finishing top four without winning a trophy
July 15, 20206 yr They’ve beaten us 3 times this season, that hasn’t happened for decade(s) ? I say play the strongest team but keep Big Willy between the sticks, Wolves result earlier means realistically we won’t finish below 5th Imagine Dave hoisting the FA Cup above his head next month, it would cap off a right mental season with one more Trophy while Spuds & Arse finish below us.

To right, shame can't have a day out at Wembley, but the FA cup is always something important to me, will never forget that hot May day in 1997.

I know you can point out we managed to mostly shut City down. Yes with them playing no striker and Sterling missing a key chance. That was a big slice of luck. Liverpool are not missing their front 3, they will be rested and rip our defense to shreds. Our chances are not much better against United but liverpool are a few steps better than them. No idea who we should pick for the game, any of our defensive options are woeful. Maybe we should go 3 -5 - 1 - 1 Kepa Rudiger Zouma Azpi James Kovacic Kante Barkley Alonso Mount Giroud Congested the midfield, sit deep to deny space behind to Rashford, Greenwood and Martial, counter with long balls to Giroud. If it works repeat it against Liverpool. I absolutely disagree we have no chance against Liverpool. We've already beaten them this season in the cup and been competitive against them in the League. They are tough decisions but I don't see willian and pulisic as being able to stay full7 fresh for the last 3 games. We play on the 20, 23, 27. Each game is not just physically challenging against a top opponent but mentally as well. Willian and Pulisic have both showed clear signs of going off their best (not due to lack of effort) due to the heavy demands. If you look at professional basketball even the best players sit out some minutes every game. Coaches have a tremendous incentive to overplay their best players at times like this but in my view freshness is a huge advantage. CHO looked good for the few minutes he was on against Norwich. Does that mean he would do a good job starting against ManU? Who knows but if he makes Wan Bissake work really hard even if we lose the cup we might still do better in the league. Resting Mount already gives us one fresh face and if Kante can be patched up that's two. But its the front three where the sharpness is really needed and where there has been little or no rotation out wide.

July 16, 20206 yr I give us a great shot Sunday against United and want to win the Trophy and Top 4. See no reason we don’t have enough players at key positions to compete in FA semi and at Anfield. Four key matches now until kickoff at Liverpool. The results we cannot have are both Leicester and United each taking all 6 points in their two games each. If this happens, we are in a unique situation should not get a result at Liverpool. If we lose Wednesday and they both get 6 points, you are looking at Leicester 3rd (65), United 4th (65) and Chelsea 5th (63) with one game to play. United plays at Leicester. All they would need to do is draw, 0-0 or 10-10, whatever, and even if we beat Wolves, we are fifth on GD tiebreaker with us all on 66 and they both make Top 4. They would know at kickoff if this is the case and I just can’t see how they would not draw. This means we really need one of them to lose or draw one of their games. We need to enter the last game with one of these happening so we are not frozen out by the draw scenario above: One of the teams draws or loses a match so that at least ONE club is even with us on points or below. OR We get a result at Liverpool. Just ONE point could be huge. Of course, if one of them would just lose their next two matches, it’s over and we are in! ? Will be an interesting watch while we prep for the FA semifinal. And YES, Leicester match at Spurs will end before we kickoff against United Sunday. We will know a lot by then. Come on you Chelsea!!
July 16, 20206 yr I feel this is our best chance to win them all season. Still we are underdogs. Frank needs to adjust the system and probably sit a bit deeper. They are not thriving against congested defences either and our ca potent with Pulisic should make them think.

Fair enough, I guess I just see it differently - assuming they start their strongest XI Man Utd are bang on form whereas Liverpool's form has been erratic recently. We should play the opponent not the occasion imho. Personally I think we can win at Anfield with something along the lines of; Kepa Zouma - Christensen - Rudiger - Emerson CHO - Barkley - Jorginho - Kovacic - Pulisic Giroud Edited July 16, 20206 yr by the special one

Winning at Anfield where they haven’t lost a game all season, in their last home game, after a week’s rest & on a day when they are handed the PL trophy will be a tough ask. I will take a point now & need everyone fully rested for that game.

This is 1 chance to win against them this season and 1 chance to go to the FA Cup final, even if we lose against Liverpool away we still have the last game at home that will probably settle everything. There is no reason to be ARse and play a third team.

Fair point; only problem is if Utd & Leicester win their next 2 games, they can both afford to play a dour 0-0 & drop us into Europa game as their final game is against each other & that superior GD comes into play. In the minority but not bothered about Lamps record against Ole at this point of the season, & City will most likely win the FA cup.
