Messi can't do much now that the best Spanish generation ever has retired part from Busquets. In the big games he just continues to look like he's not interested.

The fans will blame the club but Barcelona actually bought so many great players to help Messi out...

This is PSG without Neymar, Di Maria. I wonder how much better is Atletico Madrid than Barcelona right now, I see them as favorites against us but I wonder if we can expect to get anything out of that game in Madrid...

Once Messi leaves in the summer, they'll be rebuilding for years.

Leroy Sane says hi.

Eh was he really their best player? Pep wasn't fussed on him, very rare played him. Sane is very talented, not sure what the beef was, but Pep clearly wasn't fussed on him. It's nowhere near the same as us losing Hazard who was touted on leaving for years prior to go to the big clubs in Spain. When does that ever happen to City? They have ridiculous leverage in the market.

"Premier League clubs have rejected many of Uefa’s proposals for the new Champions League after 2024 – including the awarding of places based on historical performance and a scheduling change that would see the Champions League games played in every month of the domestic season.

At a video call for all 20 shareholders, the clubs considered the “Swiss model” proposed by Uefa in greater detail – with fears that it will take broadcast value away from the Premier League and redistribute it to an expanded Champions League dominated by Europe’s so-called elite.

Among the proposals put before clubs was a new calendar which would leave no room for the League Cup, currently one of the key broadcast revenue earners for the Football League (EFL). Getting rid of the 61-year-old competition would mean that the EFL lost a major part of its earnings and would have to be compensated. No decisions were made on that and discussions will begin with the EFL.

In the expanded Champions League, including a 36-team league stage in which all clubs play ten fixtures, there are proposals from Uefa that games are played all season long – in every month. That was rejected by the Premier League clubs who would see it as directly rivalling their own games and diminishing broadcast revenue. The Premier League will ask Uefa that any new expanded competition completes its group stages or first round by Christmas.

In addition, the clubs studied the four places out of the 36 which will be awarded on the basis of past performances over the preceding five years – known as the Uefa coefficient. Of those four places, one is the “Champions path” place which is almost certain to be awarded to the winners of Holland’s Eredivisie. Another is reserved for France’s Ligue 1.

The remaining two coefficient places would potentially benefit all the clubs who qualified for the other two European competitions – the Europa League and the Europa Conference League. Of those clubs, the two with the best Uefa coefficient would be given an “access boost” to the Champions League. The Premier League has asked Uefa to come up with better options. "

10 group games would be terrible, its basically UEFA just wanting more and more money.

Isn’t that what it comes down 99% of the time.
If it was more financially beneficial to the Premier League they would probably support it but as it stands they’re trying to protect their golden nugget.

You can only squeeze so many games into the calendar, Uefa want to take away parts of the premier league calendar and replace them with their version, probably promising more money to them, but the clubs are not daft, EPL is the golden goose, no way it stops laying.

Yep, they want more games over a longer period of the season. The groups are a joke now anyway, only there to make money. How often does any lesser team get through them, its pretty much the same clubs every season in the knock out rounds.

So currently that's our 4th place cemented, unless Villa were to win their next two games, other than that as it stands with all teams playing 24 teams no other team can overtake us but Villa. That's good... At one point it looked like top 4 was gone completely.

I still don't bank on Liverpool dropping out though, Leicester and Spurs are likely our rivals for that 4th spot, we need to make sure those two keep dropping points.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Liverpool climb back to second with a late flurry as their injured defenders start to recover.

I don't see Spurs as a threat. Leicester and Liverpool will be our biggest headache.

It’s difficult to see Liverpool playing so badly until the rest of the season. They have too many good players. I think we’ll find out how good Tuchel and this Chelsea team is over the next few games.
