Fantastic news. Our total number of confirmed centre-backs for next season has just gone up to two:

Earlier than expected but I always expected him to stay for the world cup year. His family is happy here and so is he.

It is probably his last season with us but is great he remains one more year.

That's excellent news.

Silva, Chalobah, plus 3 others from Rudiger, Christensen, Sarr, Colwill, Kounde, Szalai would be a good centre back unit for next season 🙂

No Silva, Chalobah AND Colwill, plus 2 from your list. Unless Colwill in unable to play it would be as foolish as letting James go out on loan if we don't include Colwill.

Works for me, but I think the club will probably want him to do a PL loan for a year.

Assuming Rudiger, Christensen are both leaving, I'd go with Silva, Kounde, Chalobah, Colwill and Szalai myself (on Szalai, I'm choosing to believe what I read about TT's Hungarian assistant coach recommending him)

That would be my 5, 6 if Dave stays.

I am thinking if the Szalai rumours are true he comes this window.

Such a wonderful player to watch, everything seems easy for him on the pitch, even at 37  years old and in the most demanding league physically he's one of the best.

If Dave leaves does he get the captains armband next season?

Best freebie since I shoplifted The Queen is Dead on vinyl from Tower Records as a 13 year old.

Piccadilly Circus ?

I once met Christopher Lee in the Classical music department there LOL. Heard him before I saw him ... unmistakable voice ! Spoke to him for a couple of minutes - nice bloke !

Also worth pointing out that clearly it is possible for someone who actually wants to stay at the club to sign a new contract which I am sure he is well paid to do.

Yet Rudiger and AC are treated like they are being offered bowls of gruel to stay...

I imagine Jorginho would be next in line.

Aye I expect so. However given is very likely Silvas last year with us would be a nice touch.
