Happy for him with the timing of it too, way in advance of the summer and gets to plan around his family life etc. Top pro, just goes to show how far the right attitude/talent can take you with the games evolution in science, nutrition and training advances.

Really good news to see, been a solid dependable professional for us, with positive performances for us even as he is in the twilight of his career, should be great to have for another year in our defence - nice to get some positive news about some extra stability at the club, especially at the moment!

I love how even a lets say fairly well off man, gets excited at the idea of a free pen !

I hope it’s better than the free pen I got from Chelsea - it was lovely until it fell apart in my hand.

He’s easily our best centre back. What I love about him is he just loves football, there is no drama about him, he’s a great professional and he sets a great example to young players.

Imagine him 10 years ago playing alongside a prime JT...wow

I know @Gol15suggested a back for with him in it. Is no coincidence that we made thar switch with Silva out. TT has said before now a back 4 does not suit Silva, he needs to be the center of a 3 to get the best out of him.

TT could have stuck with a back 3 yesterday. He had 3 guys who can play CB and his LWB playing, only would have meant CHO or CP starting at RWB.

But he did not do that he used a 4, why? Cause Silva was out. I believe a back 4 will be a more real option for us when Silva is used less or out, but when Silva plays I expect we stay with the back 3.

Well as someone said we probably go back to the back 3 as soon as possible. But Tuchel said that we didn't have the players for that against Spurs, we were forced to not play it.

But if it worked out with Dave and Alonso, maybe it could work with T.Silva too, he can still make smaller sprints if needed. But against Man City we simply have to play our best style and hopefully we don't lose.

This quite touching from the man:

Thiago Silva on his relationship with the Chelsea fans:

"When you see images of the fans chanting my name at the end of the Champions League final, even if I hadn't  played all of the games because I'd been injured, for me it also feels like a recognition for everything I have done.

For me it's great, I never imagined I would live this experience in my career. I felt it a bit in Milan, also in Paris, but here (Chelsea) it has been like this since the first day 💙🔵"

Now this is how you get fans on side, a certain someone could learn a few things from Thiago Silva.

Who?! No, don't tell me, it'll come to me 🤔

What a player, that Thiago, I'm so pleased he's signed for another year.

Stayed behind for around 5 minutes to applaude the away fans at new 3 point lane. Even danced along to his song according to reports.

Don't think I remember a Chelsea player hit legendary status so fast in to their career with us.

Have also read his wife is very pro Chelsea as well as is his family happy here to. May well be he tries to play as long as he can with us and retires here. If he is lucky with injuries and health I can see him staying at the top until 40 or so comfortably with how he looks after himself.

If only he was as young as he looks. He looks about 25.

Still a world class defender at 37 and he's been one of our best signings in recent history as far as i'm concerned.
