I firmly believe he deserves to be put alongside legends of the game like Beckenbauer, Matthaus, Baresi and Maldini

he trained alongside Maldini ❤️  and when Nesta retired he called Silva his heir

Signed from Fluminense in December 2008, in accordance with the rules on non-Eu players Thiago Silva had to wait until the start of the following season to make his debut for AC Milan. During the six months he could not be registered, the Brazilian studied under his role model, Paolo Maldini. The apprenticeship under Maldini proved incredibly fruitful, as Thiago Silva's natural talent was refined leading him to become one of the best defenders in the world. A perfect of Brazilian flair and European tactics, with Alessandro Nesta he formed one of the most effective defensive partnerships in football.

Is Thiago Silva your heir? «I like him very much: he has the physical and technical characteristics of a champion. In one-on-one he is very strong, he must learn to play in pairs with the other central. But with Nesta he will do it quickly and he will need to train with Favalli and Bonera ». Nesta-Thiago Silva like Baresi-Maldini?

Didn't play for Brazil until he was 23yo, maybe that's why he is lasting so long ?

We must try to keep him after he retires from playing, we could do with a hero figure like him to entice South American talent.

Once more feel particularly bad for him and Dave, they deserve much better than they have had from their teammates and manager these last 2 games.

Just looking at last night he was abysmal and Benzema completely dominated him.  About 80% at fault for the 1st goal for losing Benzema's run and leaving him wide open, and about 50% at fault for the second.

I really hope he wins fans player of the season. He's the only player in the entire squad who has been faultless from day 1.

Some are saying Rudiger, but I think Silva has been on another level. Rudiger is just more eye catching.

Plus he has played an insane number of games too.

Let down badly by his team mates these past few months.

If you look specific at his performance only, you can have the meaning of world class player.

Of course that if we were winning more trophies and reaching the semi/final in CL, world will be talking more on him.

He's our top performance since the beginning of the season, he's top defender in the world and deserves to get credit for it.

Ones of my favourite ever players, and completely ecstatic that he played for Chelsea, and won the CL with us.  I was worried that he'd be too old etc, but he's been phenomenal.  I'm not sure how he'd have fared in a back 4, but I don't care because that's hypothetical.  Plus his wife is a riot on Twitter

Thiago Silva vs Everton : Most clearances in the game (3), Most interceptions (4), Most passes completed (62), Most accurate long balls (5/9), Joint most aerial duels won with Kalidou Koulibaly (3) and most blocked shots.

At 39 he's still a Rolls Royce of a defender. For me he should have been our Player of the Season 2 years in a row. One of the best signings we've ener made

I know he's getting older, but he's not that old just yet. He's turning 38 next month

"Thiago silva is one of the greatest ever, the only thing holding him back is he's never won the champions league"
